Paul DeJong SS | DET
Cardinals' Paul DeJong: Expected back Friday
DeJong (ribs) is likely to be activated for Friday's game against the Cubs, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
According to Cardinals' manager Mike Shildt, DeJong is expected to play all seven innings of his Triple-A rehab game Wednesday and might take some additional at-bats in the second half of the doubleheader, after which he'll return to St. Louis for an evaluation. The 27-year-old hit a lowly .177 in 124 at-bats before landing on the injured list May 13, but he still displayed his usual pop with seven homers.

Trevor Story SS | BOS
Rockies' Trevor Story: Likely to return Thursday
Manager Bud Black said Story (elbow) could be activated from the 10-day injured list ahead of Thursday's series finale in Miami, Kyle Newman of The Denver Post reports.
The Rockies initially expected to get Story back from the IL for Tuesday's series opener with the Marlins, but he ultimately wasn't activated ahead of the contest. He'll remain on the shelf Wednesday, but Story took a notable step forward in his recovery from a right elbow strain by throwing on the field and taking batting practice over the past two days. If Story checks out fine once re-evaluated early Thursday, he'll likely slot back into the starting nine right away.

Ehire Adrianza 3B | LAA
Braves' Ehire Adrianza: Remains on bench
Adrianza isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Phillies.
Adrianza will be excluded from the lineup for a second straight contest, although he went 0-for-1 as a pinch hitter Tuesday. Abraham Almonte will start in left field and bat sixth.

Javier Baez SS | DET
Cubs' Javier Baez: Remains out of lineup
Baez (thumb) isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Padres.
Baez has been dealing with a right thumb contusion since Sunday, and he'll be held out of the lineup for a third consecutive game. He didn't appear off the bench in either of the last two games but could be available if needed Wednesday, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports. Sergio Alcantara will start at shortstop and bat seventh.

Brandon Crawford SS | STL
Giants' Brandon Crawford: Slugs two homers
Crawford went 2-for-3 with two home runs, four RBI, three runs scored and two walks Tuesday against the Rangers.
Crawford was one of the driving forces behind the Giants' offensive effort, first slugging a solo home run in the sixth inning. He followed that up with a three-run shot in the eighth frame and now has 14 homers for the season. The effort also extended his hitting streak to a modest four games, three of which have been multi-hit efforts. Crawford is now hitting .269/.363/.575 with 41 RBI and 35 runs scored across 193 plate appearances on the campaign.

Javier Baez SS | DET
Cubs' Javier Baez: Not in lineup Tuesday
Baez (thumb) is not in the starting lineup Tuesday against the Padres.
Baez exited Sunday's game against the Giants after grounding out and was later diagnosed with a right thumb contusion. He sat all of Monday's game and remains out of the starting nine Tuesday, though it's unknown whether he could be available off the bench. The shortstop can continue to be considered day-to-day for the time being; meanwhile, Sergio Alcantara mans shortstop Tuesday.

Corey Seager SS | TEX
Dodgers' Corey Seager: Targeting early July return
Manager Dave Roberts said Tuesday that an early July return for Seager (hand) is a "totally fair" timeline for the shortstop, Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Roberts said earlier Tuesday that the shortstop's fractured right hand is healing faster than he expected. While the skipper didn't necessarily rule out Seager being activated by the end of the month, the club appears to have its eyes set on the beginning of July as a likely return to the Dodgers' lineup.

Trevor Story SS | BOS
Rockies' Trevor Story: Remains close to returning
Manager Bud Black said Tuesday that Story (elbow) is "very close" to being activated from the injured list, Patrick Saunders reports.
Story was thought to be on track to return to the lineup Tuesday, but he was not activated ahead of the game against the Marlins. Despite the delayed return, Black noted the shortstop went through a full throwing routine Tuesday, which indicates that a Wednesday activation from the IL is well within the realm of possibility. Story has been out since May 27 with inflammation in his right elbow.

Nick Ahmed SS | TEX
Diamondbacks' Nick Ahmed: Sitting Tuesday
Ahmed is not in the starting lineup Tuesday against Oakland.
Ahmed will get a breather after going hitless across the final two games of the series against Milwaukee. Josh Rojas will shift to shortstop while Ildemaro Vargas mans the keystone Tuesday.

Corey Seager SS | TEX
Dodgers' Corey Seager: Hand healing quicker than expected
Manager Dave Roberts said Tuesday that Seager's broken right hand is healing quicker than he initially anticipated, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.
Roberts's update doesn't necessarily provide a lot of insight as far as a specific return date to the Dodgers' lineup, though it may indicate that a possible activation from the IL could be bumped up a few days. Seager, who is traveling with the team on its current six-game road trip, will continue to target a mid-June return.
