Jacob Amaya SS | ARI
Marlins' Jacob Amaya: Pushing for promotion
Amaya is slashing .362/.423/.553 through 52 plate appearances in May for Triple-A Jacksonville with four doubles, a triple, a homer and a 5:6 BB:K.
The 24-year-old may not ever be a true asset as a hitter in the majors, but Amaya's glove is big-league ready and all he really needs to do is demonstrate he won't be a liability at the plate before he'll get a chance to take over as the Marlins' starting shortstop. That could happen before the All-Star break, considering that Joey Wendle has had trouble staying healthy and has gone 3-for-28 (.107) to begin the season when he has been in the lineup.

C.J. Abrams SS | WAS
Nationals' CJ Abrams: Another multi-hit game
Abrams went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, an additional run scored and one steal in Monday's 10-3 win over the Mets.
Abrams recorded his third straight multi-hit game Monday, and during that stretch, he's hit two home runs and collected five RBI. Across 39 games (142 plate appearances), the shortstop is slashing .258/.305/.417 with four home runs, 22 RBI and 16 runs scored. He's also 5-for-7 in stolen-base attempts. Despite some occasional struggles, Abrams figures to be an everyday player for the Nationals, who are currently in last place in the NL East.

Orlando Arcia SS | MIN
Braves' Orlando Arcia: Reaches four times in rout
Arcia went 2-for-2 with a home run, a double, two walks, three total runs and two total RBI in Monday's 12-0 win over the Rangers.
Arcia's perfect game at the plate included a two-run homer and a double that came before Ronald Acuna's two-run shot. Before Monday, Arcia hadn't gone deep since April 6 against San Diego, though he missed nearly a month soon thereafter with a wrist injury. The shortstop is slashing a robust .333/.395/.551 with three homers, 10 RBI and 14 runs through 20 games on the season.

Tommy Edman 2B | LAD
Cardinals' Tommy Edman: Collects four hits in big win
Edman went 4-for-5 with a home run, four total runs and two total RBI against the Brewers in an 18-1 win Monday.
The Cardinals racked up 16 hits in the rout, and Edman was responsible for a quarter of those with his first four-hit performance of the campaign. Two of his hits came in the eighth inning, as he led off the 10-run frame with a solo homer and later notched a two-run single. This was a much-needed big game for the second baseman, as he had gone just 3-for-24 over his previous eight contests.

Casey Schmitt SS | SF
Giants' Casey Schmitt: Delivers another two-hit night
Schmitt went 2-for-4 with a double in Monday's 6-3 victory over the Phillies.
For the first time in his brief career, Schmitt didn't have a hit Sunday. He responded with his fifth multi-hit game of the season Monday. He's only played in seven games. He's slashing a hilarious .464/.464/.821 to start his career. Even with Brandon Crawford back in the lineup, Schmitt is likely to stick around with this incredible production.

Geraldo Perdomo SS | ARI
Diamondbacks' Geraldo Perdomo: Knocks two-run shot
Perdomo went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer, two runs scored and a walk in Monday's win over the Athletics.
Perdomo got the scoring started with a two-run blast in the second inning. He later added an insurance run in the fourth inning. The 23-year-old was stuck in a 1-for-19 slump since his last multi-hit game May 3. Perdomo improved his slash line to an impressive .341/.426/.545 with 11 extra-base hits and 20 RBI through 32 games.

Matt McLain SS | CIN
Reds' Matt McLain: Batting second in debut
McLain will start at shortstop and bat second in his big-league deubt Monday in Colorado.
The lineup placement is a favorable one for McLain, who should be a popular DFS option Monday while the Reds face a right-hander (Connor Seabold) at a hitter-friendly park. The rookie infielder earned a promotion to the majors after contributing a .346/.464/.713 slash line with 12 home runs and 10 stolen bases across 168 plate appearances with Triple-A Louisville this season.

Matt McLain SS | CIN
Reds' Matt McLain: Officially added to roster
The Reds selected McLain's contract from Triple-A Louisville on Monday.
McLain is expected to take over as the Reds' primary shortstop while also seeing the occasional start at second base. He slashed .346/.464/.713 to go with 12 home runs and 10 stolen bases across 168 plate appearances with Louisville this season and will get to break in at the major-league level at Coors Field for his first series. McLain is worth rostering in most formats where he might be available.

Jose Barrero SS | BAL
Reds' Jose Barrero: Expected to fade into bench role
Barrero is expected to cede the Reds' everyday shortstop duties to Matt McLain, who will be called up from Triple-A Louisville ahead of Monday's game against the Rockies, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.
Even while McLain had been in the minors, Barrero was already beginning to lose traction as the Reds' clear-cut top shortstop, as both he and Kevin Newman had made three starts apiece at the position over the past six games. Neither Barrero nor Newman have impressed defensively at shortstop this season, and while McLain isn't regarded as a polished defender at the position either and probably profiles as a second baseman over the long haul, the Reds are hoping the toolsy 23-year-old can provide an offensive upgrade over Barrero (.618 OPS in 104 plate appearances) and Newman (.596 OPS in 99 plate appearances). Newman is likely to remain a utility infielder once McLain's call-up is official, and though Barrero has a minor-league option remaining, the Reds may prefer to keep him on hand as insurance in center field while TJ Friedl is day-to-day with an oblique injury.

Matt McLain SS | CIN
Reds' Matt McLain: Joining MLB club Monday
The Reds will select McLain's contract form Triple-A Louisville prior to Monday's game in Colorado, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
McLain is one of several quality infield prospects in the Cincinnati system, and the 23-year-old has dominated the International League with a slash line of .346/.464/.713 to go with 12 homers and 10 stolen bases across 168 plate appearances. A first-round selection out of UCLA in 2021, McLain should receive immediate regular playing time with the Reds, and while there may be an adjustment period in his first taste of major-league pitching, he's talented enough to be worth rostering in the majority of redraft formats. He's most likely to settle in as the Reds' everyday shortstop, given that the team has struggled to get much production at the position from Jose Barrero and Kevin Newman this season.
