Nick Allen SS | ATL
Braves' Nick Allen: Rare day off
Allen is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Mets.
Allen's streak of 71 consecutive starts will end Saturday, as Vidal Brujan steps in to play shortstop and bat ninth. During that 71-game stretch, Allen slashed .211/.277/.240 with six doubles, 19 runs scored and nine RBI.

Otto Lopez SS | MIA
Marlins' Otto Lopez: Still out Saturday
Lopez (illness) isn't starting Saturday's contest against the Blue Jays.
Lopez had to be scratched from Friday's lineup due to an illness, and he's slated to miss at least one more game. Maximo Acosta is Miami's starting shortstop Saturday with Lopez out of action.

Francisco Lindor SS | NYM
Mets' Francisco Lindor: Swipes two bags in win
Lindor went 3-for-5 with a walk, a double, two runs scored and two stolen bases in Friday's win over Atlanta.
The shortstop stayed hot as the Mets' leadoff hitter, extending his hitting streak to 10 games -- a stretch in which he's batting a stunning .512 (22-for-43) with four homers, four steals, eight RBI and 12 runs. Lindor's surge has pushed him back up to a .797 OPS on the season, and he sits three stolen bases away from his third straight 25-25 campaign.

Maximo Acosta SS | MIA
Marlins' Maximo Acosta: Goes yard in second straight game
Acosta went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Friday's loss to the Blue Jays.
Starting at shortstop and batting ninth as a late replacement for Otto Lopez (illness), Acosta took Yariel Rodriguez deep in the eighth inning. It was the second straight game with a homer for the 22-year-old infielder, with the two longs balls accounting for his only hits in 14 plate appearances over his first four MLB contests. Lopez isn't like to miss much more time, but Acosta is beginning to make a case for more playing time over the final weeks of the season.

Willy Adames SS | SF
Giants' Willy Adames: Launches two homers
Adames went 2-for-4 with a pair of solo home runs in Friday's 5-4 loss against the Brewers.
The shortstop opened the scoring with a blast off Jose Quintana in the first inning and added another solo shot against Aaron Ashby in the eighth, giving the 29-year-old his 21st and 22nd homers on the year. Adames has now gone deep in back-to-back games and recorded his third multi-homer performance of the season. Across 127 contests, he's slashing .224/.312/.410 with 65 RBI, 76 runs scored and six stolen bases.

Marlins' Otto Lopez: Scratched due to illness
Lopez was scratched from Friday's lineup against the Blue Jays due to a stomach illness, Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com reports.
Lopez was a late scratch from Friday's lineup, though it sounds like he may not have to miss any additional games. Maximo Acosta will start at shortstop and bat ninth due to Lopez's illness.

Maximo Acosta SS | MIA
Marlins' Maximo Acosta: Late addition to lineup
Acosta will bat ninth and play shortstop Friday against the Blue Jays.
Acosta will enter the starting nine Friday after Otto Lopez (undisclosed) was scratched. Acosta has gone 1-for-10 with a solo home run in his first taste of MLB action. The 22-year-old posted a .711 OPS in 431 plate appearances with Triple-A Jacksonville.

Joseph Ortiz SS | MIL
Brewers' Joey Ortiz: Hits IL
The Brewers placed Ortiz (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list Friday with a left hamstring strain, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Ortiz left Thursday's game against the Cubs after grabbing at his hamstring while running out a groundball, and further testing revealed he's dealing with a strain. Per McCalvy, it's a low-grade strain. The 26-year-old shortstop's spot on the 26-man roster will go to Jake Bauers (shoulder), who's being activated from the injured list in a corresponding move. Look for Andruw Monasterio and Brice Turang to handle most of the action at shortstop while Ortiz is idle.

Mookie Betts SS | LAD
Dodgers' Mookie Betts: Continuing resurgence
Betts went 2-for-3 with two walks and two runs Thursday in a 9-5 victory against the Rockies.
Betts got a turn in the leadoff slot with Shohei Ohtani (thigh) given a rest day. The outfielder-turned-shortstop set the table well in the series finale, reaching four times and scoring twice. Betts went through an 0-for-20 five-game stretch from late July to early August that brought his season batting average down to .231, but he's bounced back nicely since, slashing .351/.415/.491 with two homers, nine RBI, 14 runs and a 6:4 BB:K over his past 14 contests. Betts' .689 OPS on the campaign is still tracking toward his worst career mark by far, but he's at least surging at the right time as the Dodgers head into the stretch with a one-game lead over San Diego in the NL West.
