  • Josh H. Smith SS | TEX

Rangers' Josh Smith: Starts at first base

Smith started at first base and went 3-for-4 with a walk and an RBI in Tuesday's 6-1 win over the Red Sox.

Smith started in center field Sunday and appeared to be line for regular duty there after the Rangers placed Leody Taveras on outright waivers. Since then, the team called up Evan Carter, who will get playing time in center. The Rangers want to get Smith's bat into the lineup, and first base seems like a good spot. Tuesday's start at first base was his third start there this season and first since the club sent Jake Burger to the minors last week. Blaine Crim may start against left-handers while Smith starts against righties. Smith is rolling right now, going 12-for-26 (.462) with a triple, a home run, five RBI, three walks, one steal and four runs scored over his last seven contests, the last four while batting atop the order.

  • Zachary Neto SS | LAA

Angels' Zach Neto: Two thefts in win

Neto went 1-for-3 with a walk, two stolen bases and two runs scored in Tuesday's 8-3 win over the Blue Jays.

Neto remains sizzling at the plate -- he's hit safely in his last 11 games. In that span, he's 16-for-45 (.356) with seven steals and seven extra-base hits. The shortstop missed three weeks at the start of the season while finishing up his recovery from offseason shoulder surgery. It hasn't taken him long to settle in -- he's batting .290 with four home runs, eight RBI, 10 runs scored, seven steals and five doubles across 65 plate appearances.

  • Carlos Correa SS | HOU

Twins' Carlos Correa: Smacks second homer of 2025

Correa went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and an RBI single in Tuesday's 9-1 win over Baltimore.

Correa gave the Twins a 5-0 lead in the third inning, when he took Cade Povich deep to left-center field for a two-run blast. Correa added an RBI single in the seventh frame and finished with a season-high three RBI in the blowout win. He has recorded at least two hits in six of his last 10 games, and over that span he has gone 15-for-43 (.349 average) with six runs scored, one home run and six RBI.

  • Mariners' Felnin Celesten: Making plenty of contact

Celesten is hitting .333 with two home runs, six steals and a 16.3 percent strikeout rate in 22 games for Single-A Modesto.

Celesten and Sebastian Walcott of the Rangers were the top two shortstops in the 2023 international signing class, but injuries early in Celesten's career led to him falling behind. This year marks his first exposure to full-season pitching, and while his 26.0 percent hard-hit rate isn't amazing, he should have no trouble growing into plus power, and his 81.7 percent contact rate is a very strong mark for a 19-year-old with his tools.

  • Rangers' Sebastian Walcott: Solid start at Double-A

Walcott is slashing .245/.363/.372 with two home runs, six steals, a 14.2 percent walk rate and a 21.2 percent strikeout rate in 25 games for Double-A Frisco.

Even though he played five games at Double-A at the end of last year, Walcott, who turned 19 in March, is the second-youngest player at Double-A (behind Ethan Salas), and he's two years younger than the youngest pitcher at the level. He has plus-plus raw power, but Walcott has been making too much weak contact early on (34.5 IFFB%, 31.7 Soft%) as he gets adjusted to this challenging step up in competition. Walcott has yet to play a position in the field other than shortstop in 2025.

  • J.P. Crawford SS | SEA

Mariners' J.P. Crawford: Gets aboard four times Monday

Crawford went 2-for-4 with two walks, one stolen base and one run scored in Monday's 7-6 extra-innings loss to the Athletics.

Crawford continues to sizzle -- he's hit safely in his last 13 games, going 20-for-52 (.385) with an 8:9 BB:K in that span. The shortstop is up to a .294 batting average with an .820 OPS, three home runs, 17 RBI, 18 runs scored, one stolen base and three doubles over 33 contests. His .417 on-base percentage ranks fourth among qualified hitters in the majors through Monday's games. While he doesn't have the speed of a typical leadoff hitter, he's taken over the role amid his recent surge after often hitting ninth to begin 2025.

  • Jacob Wilson SS | ATH

Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Continues tear with clutch hits

Wilson went 3-for-6 with three RBI in Monday's 7-6 extra-innings win over the Mariners.

This was Wilson's fifth multi-hit effort over his last six games. Not only did his bat stay hot, but he got his knocks at the right time -- he delivered a game-tying hit in the 10th inning before walking it off one frame later. He's already logged 13 multi-hit games in 2025, including four three-hit performances, compared to just five hitless games. The infield prospect is batting .341 with an .816 OPS, three home runs, 20 RBI, 19 runs scored, one stolen base and six doubles through 34 contests.

  • Bobby Witt SS | KC

Royals' Bobby Witt: Pilfers two bags in victory

Witt went 2-for-3 with a double, two steals, a walk, one RBI and a run scored in Monday's 3-0 win against the White Sox.

The Kansas City superstar swiped second base twice off starter Shane Smith in this game to push his steal total to 11. Witt also roped his MLB-leading 14th double in the fifth inning. The 24-year-old shortstop is well on his way to another stellar season, as he's now slashing .314/.389/.504 with four homers, 22 runs scored and 18 RBI across 157 plate appearances.

  • Anthony Volpe SS | NYY

Yankees' Anthony Volpe: Receives green light to play Monday

Volpe (shoulder) will start at shortstop and bat sixth in Monday's game against the Padres.

Though rain in the New York forecast Monday night could result in the series opener being postponed, the Yankees are comfortable enough with Volpe's health to have him play if the game goes on as planned. Volpe felt a pop in his left shoulder Saturday and sat out Sunday's 7-5 loss to the Rays as a result, but he avoided a significant injury after an MRI and X-ray cleared him of any major damage.

  • Trey Sweeney SS | DET

Tigers' Trey Sweeney: Provides jolt in Sunday's big win

Sweeney went 4-for-5 with a home run, two total runs scored and six RBI in Sunday's 13-1 win over the Angels.

Sweeney tied his career high with the four hits and set a new career best for RBI in a game. It was actually the first time this season that the shortstop had multiple RBI in a contest, and just the third time that he recorded multiple hits. Sweeney is now riding a modest five-game hitting streak, during which time he's gone 8-for-20 with two home runs and seven RBI.
