Montgomery was recalled from Triple-A Charlotte on Friday.

A first-round pick in 2021, Montgomery has spent the past couple seasons at the Triple-A level, slashing .215/.319/.398 across 814 total plate appearances. He has put up 11 homers and a couple steals over 55 games this season and will now get his first look at the major-league level, presumably as the starting shortstop for Chicago. He replaces Vinny Capra on the active roster.

Story went 4-for-5 with a home run, four RBI, three runs scored and a stolen base in Friday's 11-2 win over the Nationals.

Story laced a two-run single in the fifth inning and later added a two-run blast in the eighth, notching his first four-hit game of the season as well as his first time homering and swiping a base in the same contest. The shortstop is riding a six-game hitting streak and has hit safely in eight of his past 10 games, with the latter stretch including seven extra-base hits, 13 RBI, nine runs scored and three stolen bases. For the year, Story is slashing .252/.293/.404 with 13 long balls, 51 RBI, 42 runs scored and 14 steals across 349 plate appearances.

Neto went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, a stolen base and three runs scored in Thursday's 5-1 win over Atlanta.

The homer was the 13th of the year for Neto, who broke out of a 1-for-17 skid at the plate over his prior six games. The shortstop has proven to be a strong source of power and speed at a premium position in fantasy leagues to this point. Through 280 plate appearances, Neto is slashing a strong .270/.311/.487 with 13 long balls, 16 doubles, one triple, 49 runs scored and 14 stolen bases.

Montgomery is expected to be recalled by the White Sox to make his major-league debut Friday, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports.

Montgomery was viewed as one of the top shortstop prospects in the league following a sensational 2023 season. He's underwhelmed at Triple-A Charlotte for each of the last two years with a .717 OPS in 185 games, but the White Sox are still ready to give him a chance to presumably take over as their starting shortstop. The move is not yet official, but the promotion will shake up the White Sox's infield, with Josh Rojas looking like a potential playing time loser.

The Angels selected Stevens' contract from Triple-A Salt Lake on Thursday.

Stevens has been with Triple-A Salt Lake all season, slashing .307/.383/.542 with 14 homers, 43 RBI and 48 RBI through 298 plate appearances, and he'll now get his first look in the majors following Christian Moore's (thumb) move to the injured list. The 26-year-old Stevens will make his MLB debut Thursday as the Angels' starting second baseman, though Kevin Newman figures to be the favorite to start at the keystone most days for the Halos going forward.

Bichette (knee) remains out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Yankees.

Bichette tweaked his right knee when he stepped on a ball during batting practice prior to Monday's game versus the Yankees, and he will wind up being out of the lineup for all four games of the series. Blue Jays manager John Schneider said that Bichette should be available off the bench, however, and it's "very realistic" the shortstop will be back in the lineup for Friday's game versus the Angels, per Mitch Bannon of The Athletic. Ernie Clement will again handle shortstop, while Will Wagner will be to Clement's right at third base.

Astros general manager Dana Brown said that Pena (rib) could resume baseball activities this weekend, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Pena has been resting for the past few days after landing on the 10-day injured list Monday with a small rib fracture on his left side, but it sounds like he could start ramping things up soon. A timetable for the shortstop's return could become clearer after he advances in those activities.

Correa is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Marlins.

The Twins and Marlins are closing their series with a day game after a night game, so Minnesota manager Rocco Baldelli likely viewed Thursday as an optimal time to give Correa a breather, after the shortstop started in each of the past 23 games. Though the oft-injured Correa has proven to be relatively durable thus far with 74 starts through the Twins' first 87 games, he's in the midst of the worst offensive season of his career, batting .259 with seven home runs, 32 runs and 29 RBI.

Duran started at third base and went 1-for-4 with two RBI in Wednesday's 6-0 win over the Orioles.

Duran made a second straight start at third base, where there could be additional opportunities for him in the near term in the wake of the Rangers optioning Josh Jung to the minors. Duran and Josh Smith are expected to fill the void while Jung works on his swing at Triple-A Round Rock.

Witt went 2-for-2 with two walks, two runs scored and a stolen base during Wednesday's 3-2 loss to Seattle.

Witt reached safely in all four of his plate appearances, drawing two free passes and logging two singles. He supplied the Royals' only runs in the loss and swiped a bag for a second straight night. The superstar shortstop is riding a six-game hit streak, going 11-for-25 (.440) with three doubles, eight runs scored and five RBI during that stretch.
