  • Anthony Volpe SS | NYY

Yankees' Anthony Volpe: Swats 10th homer

Volpe went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a loss to the Mets on Saturday.

Volpe temporarily brought the Yankees to within two runs with his 408-foot solo shot in the seventh inning. It was just his second long ball over his past 27 games and his first since June 21. Volpe will look to use the homer as a springboard to busting a slump that has seen him bat just .129 (9-for-70) over his past 20 contests.

  • J.P. Crawford SS | SEA

Mariners' J.P. Crawford: Pushes hit streak to seven games

Crawford went 1-for-3 with a double and a walk in Saturday's 1-0 win over the Pirates.

Crawford extended his hitting streak to seven games and has now registered at least one hit in eight of his last nine. The 30-year-old shortstop continues to offer the Mariners some stability at the leadoff spot while Victor Robles (shoulder) sits on the injured list. Crawford hasn't supplied much in the way of power -- he's slugging just .383 over his last 58 outings -- but he's batting .287 with 19 RBI, 23 runs scored, 32 walks and four stolen bases across his last 267 plate appearances.

  • Ha-seong Kim SS | ATL

    Rays' Ha-Seong Kim: Sitting Saturday

Kim (calf) isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Twins, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports.

Kim had to leave his Rays debut early Friday after his calf began to cramp up on him in the seventh inning. He'll take an extra day off to recover Saturday; meanwhile, Taylor Walls will start at shortstop and bat seventh.

  • Gabriel Arias SS | CLE

Guardians' Gabriel Arias: Fields grounders Friday

Arias (ankle) fielded groundballs prior to Friday's game, MLB.com reports.

Arias is dealing with what an MRI revealed to be a "moderate" sprain, according to Cleveland manager Stephen Vogt. The manager noted that the infielder, who had taken over as the primary shortstop, appears to have avoided a major injury. Since Arias landed on the 10-day injured list, the Guardians have used a combination of Brayan Rocchio and Daniel Schneemann at shortstop.

  • Jacob Wilson SS | ATH

Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Two RBI in return

Wilson (hamstring) went 1-for-4 with a two-run double and one run scored in Friday's 11-2 win over the Giants.

Wilson missed the Athletics' previous two games due to a hamstring issue. He was back in the starting lineup Friday, batting second, and he played seven innings in the field before Max Schuemann took over at shortstop in the blowout win. Wilson looks good to go moving forward, which is a big boost for the Athletics' offense. While his consistency has wavered recently -- he's hitting a modest .232 over his last 19 games -- he's still at a .337/.379/.474 slash line with nine home runs, 42 RBI, 43 runs scored, five stolen bases and 17 doubles through 82 contests overall.

  • Bobby Witt SS | KC

Royals' Bobby Witt: Stays hot with three hits

Witt went 3-for-5 with one RBI and two runs scored in Friday's 9-3 win over the Diamondbacks.

Witt is on an eight-game hitting streak, going 15-for-35 (.429) in that span. The shortstop continues to deliver consistency at the plate -- he's been held hitless in consecutive games on just four occasions all season. He's at a .293/.346/.490 slash line with 11 home runs, 47 RBI, 53 runs scored and 24 stolen bases through 89 contests.

  • Ha-seong Kim SS | ATL

Rays' Ha-Seong Kim: Day-to-day with calf injury

Kim was removed from Friday's game against the Twins due to a right calf injury, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports.

After spending the first several months of the season on the injured list due to shoulder and hamstring injuries, Kim's Rays debut came to an early end after he injured his calf attempting to steal third base in the seventh inning. Manager Kevin Cash said after the game that Kim is considered day-to-day, so it doesn't seem like the 29-year-old infielder is headed for another IL stint. Taylor Walls will likely start any games Kim has to miss.

  • Jose Caballero 2B | NYY

    Rays' Jose Caballero: Sitting Friday

Caballero is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Twins.

Though he leads the majors with 30 stolen bases, Caballero has been handling a part-time role in recent weeks. He'll be on the bench for the second game in a row and the fourth time in six games, and his chances of earning starts in the middle infield aren't likely to improve in the short term with the Rays activating Ha-Seong Kim (shoudler) from the injured list Thursday. Caballero will likely see fewer at-bats, though Rays manager Kevin Cash told Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun on Friday that Caballero will continue to see playing time, adding that both Caballero and Taylor Walls are "big parts of our club." Walls probably ranks as the preferred option at shortstop when Kim is out of the lineup, though the right-handed-hitting Caballero could be a regular part of the lineup against left-handed pitching as a replacement in the outfield for either Chandler Simpson or Josh Lowe, both of whom bat from the left side.

  • Bo Bichette SS | TOR

Blue Jays' Bo Bichette: Back in lineup Friday

Bichette (knee) is in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Angels.

The shortstop stepped on a ball during batting practice Monday and missed almost the entire four-game set against the Yankees, though Bichette appeared off the bench Thursday, going 0-for-1. Now that he's feeling well enough to return to the lineup, Bichette will look to put the finishing touches on a resurgent first half in which he's slashed .272/.311/.426 with 11 homers and four steals over 380 plate appearances.

  • Vinny Capra SS | CHW

White Sox's Vinny Capra: Designated for assignment

Capra was designated for assignment by the White Sox on Friday.

Capra was part of history earlier this week when he became Clayton Kershaw's 3,000th strikeout victim. Two days later, he's been bumped from the 40-man and 26-man rosters, as prospect Colson Montgomery comes up for his MLB debut. Capra provides defensive versatility but has slashed just .125/.157/.177 in 105 plate appearances this season between the Brewers and White Sox.
