Montero (7-5) allowed one run on three hits and struck out eight without walking a batter over 5.1 innings to earn the win over the Cubs on Wednesday.

Montero was back in the rotation for the first time since he threw seven shutout innings June 26 versus the Astros. The right-hander had moved to the bullpen for much of July, but he could take claim of a starting role once again since Jack Flaherty (forearm) went on the injured list Tuesday and Casey Mize is dealing with groin tightness and a wrist issue. For the season, Montero has been a fine option in any role, pitching to a 3.14 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 78:22 K:BB through 106 innings over 22 appearances (16 starts). Assuming Montero remains the top option to cover a starting role in Flaherty's absence, the former is lined up for a home start versus the Orioles early next week.

Ober took a no-decision Wednesday against the Guardians, allowing four runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out two across four innings.

Ober dealt with a lot of traffic on the basepaths, which led to Cleveland manufacturing four runs without any extra-base hits against him. The 31-year-old threw 89 pitches, which marks his highest total since coming back from the elbow injury in early July. The righty has a 4.40 ERA,1.40 WHIP and 14:4 K:BB over 14.1 frames since coming off the IL. He lines up for a matchup against Kansas City next week.

Alcantara (10-6) allowed five runs on nine hits and a walk while striking out three over seven-plus innings to take the loss Wednesday versus the Astros.

Alcantara had limited the damage to two runs through seven frames, but he gave up three more runs on homers by Yordan Alvarez and Isaac Paredes in the eighth. Alcantara has gone at least six frames in all four of his starts in July, allowing 10 runs over 28 innings with a 26:6 K:BB this month. For the season, the veteran right-hander has a 4.01 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 110:38 K:BB across 143.2 innings through 22 outings. He's projected to make his next start at home versus the Phillies.

Cecconi (4-7) took the loss Wednesday against the Twins after giving up three runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out five over 4.2 innings.

Cecconi continues to struggle in July after an efficient June, during which he yielded two runs or fewer in all five of his starts. The right-hander has now allowed at least three runs in each of his three July outings, leaving him with a 7.43 ERA across 13.1 innings this month. The three walks issued Wednesday are also his most since May 7. The 27-year-old is expected to start next week against the Reds.

King took a no-decision Wednesday against Atlanta, allowing one run on five hits and four walks in six innings. He struck out seven.

The Atlanta bats brought a run across during the first inning but were unable to score against King the rest of the way. The seven punchouts were the right-hander's most since his May 18 start versus the Dodgers, and he's now fired at least five innings while yielding two runs or fewer in five of his past six outings. King will carry a strong 3.24 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 103:49 K:BB over 119.1 innings into what shapes up as a soft home draw against the last-place Rockies.

Lambert allowed two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out three over six innings in a no-decision versus the Marlins on Wednesday.

Lambert has posted three straight quality starts, allowing four runs over 18 innings with a 20:6 K:BB in that span. He's been a little unlucky to take a no-decision in his last two outings, but he's still pitching well and has emerged as a reliable part of the Astros' rotation. The right-hander is now at a 3.03 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 94:38 K:BB through 98 innings over 17 starts this season. Lambert's next start is projected to be a favorable road matchup versus the Angels.

Perez took a no-decision Wednesday against the Padres, allowing no runs on one hit and four walks in four innings. He struck out three.

Making his return from the 15-day injured list with a bruised forearm, Perez fared about as well as Atlanta could have hoped for Wednesday. The 35-year-old southpaw showed some signs of rust with a lack of control -- matching a season high in walks -- but he still turned in his first scoreless start since April 28 against Detroit. Perez will take a 3.38 ERA, his best mark since 2022 with Texas, 1.20 WHIP and a 65:36 K:BB over 85.1 innings into his next scheduled outing in New York against the last-place Mets.

Bradish (7-9) earned the win Wednesday against the Red Sox, allowing one run on four hits and one walk in six innings. He struck out four.

Staked to an early 4-0 lead, Bradish coasted to victory Wednesday to help snap Boston's 15-game winning streak. The 29-year-old right-hander is enjoying an excellent month of July so far, posting three quality starts en route to a 2.21 ERA, 0.74 WHIP and 14:3 K:BB over 20.1 frames this month. Bradish will carry a steady 3.49 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 110:51 K:BB across 113.1 innings into his next scheduled outing in Detroit.

Lauer (5-5) earned the win against the Phillies on Wednesday, allowing three runs on four hits and one walk with five strikeouts over 5.1 innings.

Lauer allowed three runs on two homers but otherwise kept the Phillies in check, throwing 61 of 91 pitches for strikes with 10 whiffs. Since debuting with the Dodgers on May 26, the southpaw has posted four quality starts in eight appearances while yielding three earned runs or fewer in each outing. He'll carry a 4.83 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 52:28 K:BB across 82 innings with the Blue Jays and Dodgers this season and lines up for a home matchup with the Mariners next week.

Nola (3-8) took the loss against the Dodgers on Wednesday, allowing five runs on seven hits and one walk with four strikeouts over 5.1 innings.

Nola entered the fifth inning with a 2-1 lead but allowed a two-run double in the frame before surrendering what proved to be a decisive two-run homer in the sixth. Despite entering the contest having yielded just eight earned runs with two quality starts over his past three outings, the 33-year-old is now 0-3 in July and last recorded a win May 26. He'll take a 5.82 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 112:36 K:BB across 108.1 innings this season and lines up for a road matchup with the Marlins next week.
