  • Brewers' Shane Drohan: Handed another start

Drohan is slated to start Sunday's game against the Rockies at Coors Field. Drohan will be making his second straight turn through the rotation after most recently striking out five batters while yielding two earned runs on four hits and two walks across four innings in a start Monday against the Giants. Since he had previously been working out of the bullpen, Drohan was lifted after tossing 68 pitches in Monday's start, but he should have a little bit longer leash Sunday.

  • Brewers' Shane Drohan: Lasts four innings in no-decision

Drohan took a no-decision Monday against the Giants, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks in four innings. He struck out five. Making only his second start of the year, Drohan threw a season-high 68 pitches Monday in an abbreviated outing. Additionally, the 27-year-old right-hander matched his season-high output in strikeouts. Drohan has an impressive 2.87 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 33:10 K:BB over 31.1 innings, but his streaming appeal could be limited during a matchup in Colorado against the Rockies for his next outing. Beyond that, the expectation is that Brandon Woodruff (shoulder) will take Drohan's place in Milwaukee's rotation once healthy.

  • Brewers' Shane Drohan: Set to start Monday

Drohan will start Monday's game against the Giants, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Drohan will be making his second start of the season, after tossing 2.2 innings in his Milwaukee debut back on April 8. Since then, Drohan has excelled in a relief role for Milwaukee, accruing a 1.82 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 26:4 K:BB across 24.2 innings. The left-hander has thrown 39-plus pitches in seven of his 11 outings this season, so he should be able to provide some quality length Monday even if he isn't built up to handle a full starter's workload.

  • Brewers' Shane Drohan: Earns first MLB win

Drohan (1-1) earned the win Thursday against the Diamondbacks, allowing one run on five hits while striking out four over four innings. The left-hander entered the game in the third inning following Brandon Woodruff's early exit due to an arm injury, and Drohan turned in a solid outing to secure his first career MLB win. The 27-year-old's lone run allowed came in the fifth inning on an RBI single by Lourdes Gurriel after three hits in the frame. The performance was an encouraging step forward for Drohan, who had struggled in his previous MLB appearances, allowing six runs (four earned) with a 5:5 K:BB across 7.2 innings.

  • Brewers' Shane Drohan: Added to big-league roster

The Brewers recalled Drohan from Triple-A Nashville on Friday, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Drohan was ineffective in a spot start earlier this month, allowing three runs on three hits and four walks over 2.2 innings. The left-hander will operate as a long reliever during this stint in the big leagues.

  • Brewers' Shane Drohan: Optioned after spot start

The Brewers optioned Drohan to Triple-A Nashville on Thursday, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Drohan permitted three runs on three hits and four walks over 2.2 innings against the Red Sox on Wednesday in his major-league debut. The Brewers have not announced a corresponding roster move, but they're expected to bring up a reliever prior to Friday's game versus the Nationals.

  • Brewers' Shane Drohan: Dealt loss in MLB debut

Drohan (0-1) took the loss Wednesday, allowing three runs on three hits and four walks over 2.2 innings against the Red Sox. He struck out two. It was the first outing of Drohan's MLB career after being called up from Triple-A Nashville on Monday, and he struggled with his command versus his former organization. The left-hander kept Boston off the board through two frames but couldn't complete the third, throwing just 28 of 63 total pitches for strikes. The Brewers needed an extra starter this week coming off a weekend doubleheader, so Drohan likely won't get another turn through the rotation, especially with team off days coming Thursday and Monday.

  • Brewers' Shane Drohan: Debuting Wednesday

Drohan will start Wednesday's game against the Red Sox, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. After arriving in Milwaukee in the offseason via trade, Drohan will be making his MLB debut Wednesday against the organization that selected him in the fifth round of the 2020 First-Year Player Draft. The 27-year-old southpaw owns a 5.13 ERA in his Triple-A career, and he allowed two earned runs on three hits and four walks while striking out six batters in 3.1 innings during his first outing of the year at Triple-A Nashville.

  • Brewers' Shane Drohan: Sent to Triple-A

The Brewers optioned Drohan to Triple-A Nashville on Sunday, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. The left-hander was in the mix for a rotation spot but will instead begin the season in the minors after posting a 4.26 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 15:4 K:BB over 12.2 innings during spring training. Drohan, who was acquired from the Red Sox in the Caleb Durbin trade in February, is still likely to make his Brewers debut at some point this season.

  • Brewers' Shane Drohan: Off to strong start

Drohan tossed three scoreless innings in Wednesday's spring game against the Cubs. He gave up one hit, struck out four batters and walked one. Drohan tossed two scoreless innings in his late-February spring debut, and he one-upped himself in his next opportunity. The 27-year-old has never appeared in a major-league game, and given Milwaukee's starting pitching depth, it's likely his season will begin in the minors. However, he shined at the Triple-A level last season and is doing the same this spring, so he could be an option for the big club at some point.

  • Red Sox's Shane Drohan: Grabs spot on 40-man roster

The Red Sox selected Drohan's contract from Triple-A Worcester on Tuesday, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports. Drohan missed nearly four months of the Triple-A season with a forearm injury but was extremely effective when healthy, turning in a 2.27 ERA and 1.02 WHIP alongside a 67:16 K:BB through 47.2 innings. The 26-year-old southpaw will be ineligible for the Rule 5 Draft in December now that he owns a spot on Boston's 40-man roster, and he could compete for a spot on the Opening Day roster if his strong performance continues into spring training.

  • White Sox's Shane Drohan: Moved off IL, DFA'd by White Sox

The White Sox reinstated Drohan (shoulder) from the 60-day injured list and designated him for assignment Sunday. Drohan was placed on the injured list March 28 after undergoing left shoulder nerve decompression surgery. After beginning his rehab assignment at High-A Winston-Salem, Drohan was moved up to Triple-A Charlotte on May 28, where he's allowed no runs on two hits and two walks while striking out five over four frames. The White Sox selected Drohan during the Rule 5 Draft in December, so he'll have to be offered back to the Red Sox if he goes unclaimed off waivers.

  • White Sox's Shane Drohan: Moving rehab up to Triple-A

Drohan (shoulder) has been transferred to Triple-A Charlotte to continue his rehab assignment, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Coming back from left shoulder nerve decompression surgery, Drohan has allowed six runs (five earned) with a 10:4 K:BB over 5.1 innings in his first five rehab appearances. The Rule 5 pick could use most, if not all, of his 30 allotted rehab days.

  • White Sox's Shane Drohan: Continuing rehab at Single-A

Drohan (shoulder) moved his rehab assignment to High-A Winston-Salem on Tuesday and gave up three runs (two earned) on one hit and one walk while retiring one batter. Working his way back from left shoulder nerve decompression surgery, Drohan allowed three runs with a 9:2 K:BB over 3.2 innings in three appearances in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League before advancing his assignment to High-A. The Rule 5 pick will likely use all of his 30 allotted rehab days before the White Sox add him to the roster. Drohan will need to remain on Chicago's roster all season or be offered back to the Red Sox. If he sticks around with the White Sox, he'll likely be deployed out of the bullpen, given that he hasn't yet pitched more than two innings in any of his four rehab outings to date.

  • White Sox's Shane Drohan: Heads to 60-day IL

The White Sox placed Drohan (shoulder) on the 60-day injured list Thursday. A Rule 5 selection this winter, Drohan missed the entirety of his first spring training with Chicago while recovering from left shoulder nerve decompression surgery. According to MLB.com, Drohan is expected to begin a throwing program shortly after the regular season begins, but his placement on the 60-day IL implies that the White Sox expect him to take nearly two months to get fully ramped up. Drohan served primarily as a starter for the Red Sox's Triple-A affiliate in Worcester last season, registering a 6.37 ERA, 1.85 WHIP and 93:63 K:BB in 89 innings.

  • White Sox's Shane Drohan: Undergoes surgery

Drohan underwent shoulder surgery Thursday, Vinnie Duber of AllCHGO.com reports. Drohan is expected to begin a throwing program by the end of the spring, but it's unclear how long it will be before he takes the mound for the White Sox. The 25-year-old Rule 5 Draft pick posted a 6.37 ERA and 1.85 WHIP across 89 innings with Boston's Triple-A affiliate last year. While most of Drohan's minor-league appearances came as a starter, it's possible the White Sox bring him back to serve as a multi-inning reliever.

  • Red Sox's Shane Drohan: Dominant in Eastern League

Drohan allowed one hit and two walks while striking out four over six scoreless innings to earn his fifth win in five starts for Double-A Portland on Thursday. Drohan picked up where he left off in April, for which he was named the Eastern League Pitcher of the Month, per Christopher Smith of MassLive.com. The lefty, drafted in fifth round in 2020 out of Florida State University, is an under-the-radar prospect that started to blip on the radar in 2022. Drohan mostly lives in the 92-to-95 mph range with his fastball and augments it with a curve and changeup. Most notably in 2023, the 24-year-old former Seminole is cutting down on walks, lowering his rate to 1.9 BB/9 from 3.96 last season. The free pass has been an issue for Drohan since his college days (8.43 BB/9).
