The Nationals recalled Palmquist from Triple-A Rochester on Monday.

He could fill the role of long reliever vacated by Mitchell Parker (elbow), who landed on the 15-day injured list Monday. Palmquist permitted one earned run over 3.1 innings last week in his lone appearance for the Nationals.

Paddack is close to finalizing a major-league deal with the Rangers and could be formally added to the roster in the coming days, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Paddack will need to pass a physical before putting pen to paper on a deal, but the veteran right-hander appears poised to get a look in the rotation spot that opened up when Jack Leiter (ankle) was placed on the injured list June 21. Though Paddack will provide the Rangers with an experienced option at the back of the rotation, his recent form suggests that he won't offer much value beyond eating innings. The 30-year-old has already been released by the Marlins and Reds this season after going 0-7 with a 6.96 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and 8.1 K-BB% in 53 innings between the two squads.

Marquez (forearm) will make another rehab start with Triple-A El Paso on Tuesday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Marquez had been scheduled to pitch for El Paso on Sunday, but he was a healthy scratch because he was under consideration to start for the Padres on Monday. However, that assignment will go to Griffin Canning, and Marquez will continue his rehab assignment. Working his way back from right forearm nerve irritation, Marquez has authored a 2.12 ERA and 13:7 K:BB over 17 innings thus far on his rehab assignment. The Padres will need to make a roster decision on Marquez following Tuesday's outing, as his 30-day rehab window is slated to run out soon.

Greene (elbow) struck out four and allowed one hit and no walks over 6.1 scoreless innings Sunday in a rehab start with Triple-A Louisville.

In what was likely the third and final start of his rehab assignment, Greene answered any questions about his readiness to join the big-league rotation. During Sunday's outing, the 26-year-old righty averaged 98.8 mph with his four-seam fastball -- just under a tick below his average with the Reds from the 2025 season -- and racked up 12 swinging strikes on 82 pitches (54 strikes). Assuming he checks out fine following his next bullpen session, Greene will likely come off the 60-day injured list to make his 2026 Reds debut during this weekend's series with the Orioles in Cincinnati. Greene was placed on the shelf coming out of spring training after he underwent arthroscopic surgery March 11 to remove bone chips from his right elbow.

Gil (shoulder) resumed a throwing program June 13, MLB.com reports.

After the Yankees optioned him to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on April 26, Gil didn't make any appearances for the affiliate before being placed on the 7-day injured list May 8 due to right shoulder inflammation. Though he resumed throwing just over a month after being shut down, Gil will likely require a lengthy ramp-up period and may need to make one or two starts in the lower levels of the minors before slotting back into the Triple-A rotation.

Williams (elbow) struck out a batter and allowed four runs (two earned) on four hits and no walks while recording two outs in a rehab start Sunday with Single-A Fredericksburg.

Williams spotted 18 of his 26 pitches for strikes in the rehab start -- his first at any level since undergoing an internal brace procedure last July -- but that was about the only positive takeaway from Sunday's outing. The veteran right-hander will likely need the full 30-day rehab window to build up his pitch count and iron out his command, so he likely won't be in consideration for a spot in the Washington rotation until late July or early August. Before requiring surgery last summer, Williams struggled in 17 starts with Washington, posting a 6.21 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 65:21 K:BB in 82.2 innings.

Henderson (back) struck out seven and allowed one hit and one walk over three scoreless innings Sunday in a rehab start with Triple-A Nashville.

Making his first appearance in a game setting since May 22, Henderson was about as sharp as the Brewers could have hoped. He compiled 10 whiffs on his 50 pitches (32 strikes), working into the fourth inning while averaging 92.9 mph with his four-seam fastball. Henderson will likely need to get stretched out to the 65-to-75-pitch range before coming off the 15-day injured list, so he'll presumably make at least one more start in the minors. The right-hander looks like he could have a shot at returning to the Milwaukee rotation during the final week before the All-Star break.

Sandoval (biceps) struck out three and allowed one earned run on three hits and one walk across four innings Sunday in his rehab start with Triple-A Worcester.

Sandoval built up to 60 pitches (40 strikes) in Sunday's appearance, his fifth minor-league start since he resumed a rehab assignment June 5. He generated five whiffs in the outing and averaged 92.8 mph with his four-seam fastball, down one mph from his average with the Angels during the 2024 season before he underwent internal brace surgery that June. The 29-year-old southpaw is now well removed from the elbow procedure, but a bout with biceps soreness during his rehab assignment in April continued to delay his Red Sox debut. Sandoval's current 30-day rehab window will come to an end Saturday, so he'll likely make one more start with either Worcester or Double-A Portland before coming off the 60-day injured list. With Jake Bennett having excelled as the Red Sox's No. 5 starter over the past few weeks, Sandoval might have to settle for a multi-inning relief role once he gets activated.

Smith-Shawver (elbow) is slated to make the first start of his rehab assignment Tuesday with Single-A Augusta, Barrett Sallee of 680 The Fan Atlanta reports.

After completing a series of bullpen sessions and live batting practice sessions as he works his way back from June 2025 Tommy John surgery, Smith-Shawver threw a two-inning simulated game at Atlanta's spring training facility in Florida as a final step before embarking on a rehab assignment. He'll likely build on that two-inning workload during Tuesday's outing and will presumably need at least three or four more rehab starts beyond that before Atlanta brings him back from the 60-day injured list. Smith-Shawver still has a minor-league option remaining, but if his velocity and command looks good during his rehab assignment, Atlanta may have room for him in the big-league rotation. Before undergoing elbow surgery last summer, Smith-Shawver posted a 3.86 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 42:21 K:BB In 44.1 innings over nine starts with Atlanta.

Junk (shin) allowed one run over 2.2 innings in his first rehab start with Triple-A Jacksonville on Sunday before exiting after being struck on the left wrist by a comebacker, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

X-rays came back clean, and Junk will make his next scheduled rehab start. Working his way back from right shin bone inflammation, Junk threw 42 pitches Sunday and could require at least a couple more rehab outings before the Marlins decide whether to reinsert him into their rotation. The right-hander collected a 4.80 ERA and 43:13 K:BB over 60 frames covering 11 starts before getting hurt.
