Johnny Cueto SP | LAA
Giants' Johnny Cueto: Nearing bullpen session
Cueto (flexor strain) will throw a bullpen session sometime later in the week, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
This will mark Cueto's first time bullpen session since exiting his rehab start at the beginning of August with a flexor strain. Barring any setbacks, he should be cleared to resume a rehab assignment relatively soon, though the Giants will likely continue to take a cautious approach with the right-hander seeing as the team is clearly looking toward 2018. A clearer timetable should emerge once he returns to his rehab assignment, but a return to the big-league rotation before the end of August remains a possibility.

Noah Syndergaard SP | CLE
Mets' Noah Syndergaard: Nearing mound work
Syndergaard (lat) is scheduled to throw off a mound Tuesday for the first time since landing on the disabled list, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Syndergaard remains without a timetable for his return as he continues to slowly make his was back from a lat injury that has kept him sidelined since the beginning of May. He has been able to throw off flat ground with no issues recently, clearing the way for him to return to a mound. This is a big step in his recovery, and barring any setbacks, he should be cleared to head out on a rehab assignment in the near future. While Thor has been progressing well in his rehab, the Mets aren't expected to rush him back, as they've clearly turned their focus towards 2018.

Odrisamer Despaigne SP | MIA
Marlins' Odrisamer Despaigne: Earns first career save
Despaigne tossed a clean ninth frame Sunday against the Rockies to earn his first save of the season.
The Marlins were running low on options due to an overworked bullpen, so manager Don Mattingly decided to turn to Despaigne's fresh arm to close out the game. While he was able to get the job done, the Marlins likely won't be using him in save situations moving forward.

German Marquez SP | SD
Rockies' German Marquez: Tagged for five runs Sunday
Marquez (9-5) took the loss after allowing five runs on seven hits and one walk over 4.1 innings Sunday against the Marlins. He struck out four.
Marquez had tossed six straight quality starts before getting knocked around Sunday and earning his first loss since June 26. In between losses, the rookie hurler compiled a solid 3.18 ERA and 47:13 K:BB in 45.1 innings (seven starts). He'll look to get back on track as he faces the Brewers on Friday.

Vance Worley SP | NYM
Marlins' Vance Worley: Lasts just four innings Sunday
Worley allowed three runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out one through four innings of work Sunday against the Rockies. He didn't factor into the decision.
After tossing a pair of quality starts in his previous two outings, Worley failed to make it out of the fifth inning Sunday. He still owns an impressive 2.12 ERA through three starts (17 innings) this month, but his 6:5 K:BB over that same span isn't doing much for fantasy owners. He'll make his next start Saturday against the Mets.

Zach Eflin SP | BAL
Phillies' Zach Eflin: Fans five in Sunday's loss
Eflin (1-4) was tagged with the loss after he allowed four runs on seven hits while striking out five through 5.1 innings Sunday against the Mets.
Eflin was hurt by the long ball Sunday, as all four earned runs came from a pair of two-run homers. The 23-year-old is now 1-1 with a 4.38 ERA and 8:1 K:BB in two starts (12.1 innings) since being recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley. His performance should once again earn him another turn in the Phillies' rotation, lining him up to pitch Friday against the Giants.

Chris Flexen RP | CHC
Mets' Chris Flexen: Picks up second straight win
Flexen (2-1) allowed two runs on six hits and four walks while striking out five over five innings to earn the win over Philadelphia on Sunday.
Flexen turned in his best outing of the season en route to his second straight win, though he hasn't necessarily dazzled anyone in the process. The 23-year-old has a 4.22 ERA and 9:7 K:BB over 10.2 innings over that span. Despite his 7.02 ERA and 2.10 WHIP through four starts this season, it appears he'll stick in the rotation for another turn Friday against the Marlins.

Tyler Glasnow SP | LAD
Pirates' Tyler Glasnow: Making adjustments down the stretch
Glasnow, who has compiled a 7-0 record with a 1.57 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 103:26 K:BB in 68.2 Triple-A innings since a demotion to the minors, has pitched exclusively out of the stretch for Indianapolis, Pirates Prospects reports.
The 6-foot-8 righty believes the simplistic approach has helped with his success. "In the windup I always felt like it was extra movements for no reason," Glasnow said. "I think that was my problem even in the minor leagues, switching from windup to the stretch, I felt like I had two different deliveries. I think being more athletic in the stretch has been way easier for me." He said the physical change has allowed him to relax mentally, and his fastball velocity has spiked back to the high 90s. Glasnow is expected to serve as a September recall, if not sooner.

Kenta Maeda SP | NYY
Dodgers' Kenta Maeda: Strikes out eight in win over Padres
Maeda (11-4) allowed four runs (three earned) on four hits and one walk across 5.1 innings in Sunday's win over the Padres. He struck out eight.
Maeda, who threw 65 percent of his pitches for strikes, induced 16 swinging strikes while tying his season high in punchouts. He allowed two runs in the first and another pair on a home run by Cory Spangenberg in the sixth, but a big inning from the Dodgers offense gave him the support necessary to earn the win. This one snapped a streak of five consecutive outings in which Maeda allowed one earned run or fewer, but he has won his last five decisions and owns a solid 3.76 ERA for the year. He will take the ball next Sunday against the Tigers.

Michael Wacha SP | KC
Cardinals' Michael Wacha: Falls to Braves
Wacha (9-5) ended up with the loss Sunday, allowing four earned runs on eight hits across five innings to the Braves. The final score was 6-3.
Wacha only issued a single free pass in the afternoon affair but only managed one strikeout, as well. The Iowa native's ERA (3.85) and WHIP (1.32) this season are right in line with his career marks of 3.73 and 1.28, and his 115 K's have him on pace for a new career high.
