Joe Musgrove SP | SD
Pirates' Joe Musgrove: Scheduled for three bullpen sessions
Musgrove (shoulder) will throw three bullpen sessions before heading out on a rehab assignment, Rob Biertempfel of The Athletic Pittsburgh reports.
The right-hander is expected to throw 25-30 fastballs in his next bullpen session Thursday. Musgrove still needs to be built back up to a starter's workload, so it seems like he won't be back in the Pirates' rotation until late May or early June.

Alec Asher SP | MIL
Brewers' Alec Asher: Heads to Milwaukee
Asher was claimed off waivers by the Brewers on Tuesday, Eric Stephen of TrueBlueLA.com reports.
The right-hander was claimed off waivers by the Dodgers just 12 days earlier, but he'll head to Milwaukee now that the Dodgers deemed him unworthy of a 40-man roster spot. Asher has a good amount of big-league experience and allowed a single run in his first start with Triple-A Oklahoma City this season, though it looks like he'll be nothing more than an organizational depth piece for the Brewers.

Tyler Cloyd SP | MIA
Marlins' Tyler Cloyd: Blown up in long relief
Cloyd surrendered six runs on eight hits and two walks over 3.1 innings of long relief in Monday's 12-1 loss to the Yankees. He struck out four batters in the outing.
With one out in the third inning and the Marlins trailing 5-0, Cloyd temporarily clotted the bleeding by inducing an inning-ending double play off the bat of Ronald Torreyes. However, that would prove to be the highlight of the night for Cloyd, who allowed at least two batters to reach base in each of the subsequent three innings as the Yankees pulled away. The right-hander seems unlikely to be used outside of mop-up situations while he remains with the big club.

Hyun-Jin Ryu SP | TOR
Dodgers' Hyun-Jin Ryu: Strikes out nine for second straight win
Ryu (2-0) struck out nine over six innings and held the Padres to two runs on just three hits to pick up the win Monday night.
Since failing to complete four innings against the Diamondbacks his first time out, Ryu has been sharp, notching 17 strikeouts and allowing just four hits and two runs over 12 innings. We haven't seen this Ryu consistently since 2014, and if the Dodgers are going to get over this slow start, a consistently solid Ryu will be key.

Julio Teheran SP | BAL
Braves' Julio Teheran: Earns first win against Phillies
Teheran (1-1) allowed one run on five hits and three walks and struck out nine through six innings in a win Monday over the Phillies.
After struggling his first couple times out, it looks like Teheran is starting to find his rhythm. Since a blowup against the Nationals on April 3, Teheran has now fired off consecutive quality starts with 16 strikeouts over just 12 innings, but his ERA still sits at 5.40.

Aaron Nola SP | PHI
Phillies' Aaron Nola: Takes loss to Atlanta
Nola (1-1) allowed two runs on four hits and a walk with two strikeouts over six innings in a tough loss Monday against Atlanta.
Nola has now thrown two quality starts in a row after failing to get through six innings in his first two starts, but the Phillies offense gave him just minimal support. He sits at 1-1 despite a 2.22 ERA in four outings, and it remains to be seen if the Phillies can be trusted to deliver the wins even if Nola brings the goods from the mound.

Luis Castillo SP | CHW
Reds' Luis Castillo: Snatches first win against Brewers
Castillo (1-2) allowed four runs on five hits and three walks and struck out eight through 6.2 innings to earn the win Monday against the Brewers.
Castillo was cruising, with a shutout through six innings, but he and the Reds stumbled in the seventh inning as they were nursing a 9-0 lead. He was otherwise fantastic, as he induced 18 swinging strikes on 107 pitches and induced seven grounders against five flyballs. But unfortunately, the four-run seventh inning -- including two inherited runners allowed by reliever Cody Reed -- will keep Castillo's ERA at a lofty 6.75.

German Marquez SP | SD
Rockies' German Marquez: Earns first win with quality start
Marquez (1-1) allowed two runs on two hits and two walks across six innings en route to a win Monday against the Pirates. He struck out six.
Marquez threw first-pitch strikes to 16 of 22 batters and induced 12 swinging strikes as he notched a season high in punchouts. He faded just a bit, allowing a run in both the fifth and sixth innings, but he still delivered a quality start and earned his first win as the bullpen held the lead. Marquez was shelled in his second start of the season, but he's posted a 1.28 ERA and a 0.92 WHIP over his other three outings. He'll look to build on this performance Sunday against the Cubs.

Jacob deGrom SP | TEX
Mets' Jacob deGrom: Strikes out 12 in no-decision
DeGrom gave up three earned runs on six hits over 7.1 innings in a no-decision against the Nationals on Monday, striking out 12 and walking one as the Mets eventually fell 8-6.
DeGrom was dominant in this one and was in prime position to pick up the win before his bullpen let him down in relinquishing a 6-1 eighth-inning lead. Despite the no-decision, it was good to see deGrom put up his first double-digit strikeout effort of the season and he's now got a 3.24 ERA and a solid 1.08 WHIP. He figures to remain a top-end fantasy contributor as long as he stays healthy.

Drew Smyly SP | CHC
Cubs' Drew Smyly: Rehab going well
Smyly (elbow) said his recovery from Tommy John surgery is going well and he expects to start throwing from a mound this week, Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Smyly, who underwent surgery last June, has been doing rehab work in Arizona. After a short break from his program, his next step is a return to throwing from a mound. "Everything's been great," Smyly said. "The arm feels great. I just have to keep it going." Barring any setbacks, the next target is a minor-league rehab assignment by July and a possible return to the majors in August. The 28-year-old lefty may not be able to secure a rotation spot this season, but he could give the Cubs another option in the bullpen if he comes back sharp.
