Steven Matz RP | TB
Mets' Steven Matz: Allows two home runs in short outing
Matz allowed four earned runs on six hits and one walk while striking out two across four innings Saturday against the Diamondbacks. He did not factor into the decision.
After allowing two extra-base hits and an earned run in his first two innings of work, Matz appeared to be settling into his start with a smooth third inning. However, things fell apart for him in the fourth inning as he allowed two home runs and was taken advantage of on the basepaths by Jarrod Dyson. The short outing was a continuing trend as he has now failed to work for more than five innings in six of his eight starts this season. While he provides decent ratios and strikeouts, his inability to work deep into games limits his upside.

Patrick Corbin SP | TOR
Diamondbacks' Patrick Corbin: Unsteady in Saturday's start
Corbin allowed two earned runs on four hits and four walks while striking out six across 5.1 innings Saturday against the Mets. He did not factor into the decision.
The only runs Corbin allowed runs came on a two-run homer by Michael Conforto in the second inning. However, he struggled to find the strike zone -- only 58 of his 98 pitches went for strikes -- and generated just 10 swinging strikes. To make matters worse, his velocity remained down for the third consecutive start. He has pitched 16.1 innings in that span and has walked nine batters while surrendering seven earned runs. Something is clearly off for Corbin, but it remains to be seen whether it is a correctable mechanical issue or a lingering injury.

Jon Gray SP | TEX
Rockies' Jon Gray: Gives up five runs in loss
Gray (4-6) allowed five runs over 3.2 innings against the Giants on Saturday to take the loss. He surrendered five hits and one walk while striking out four.
It was another tough outing from Gray, whose ERA now sits at a bloated 5.34. He's given up five or more runs in five of his 10 starts. The particularly frustrating part of Gray's struggles is that his peripherals have been strong for the most part. He's averaging 95 on his fastball and entered Saturday with a 10.2 K/9 along with a 2.08 BB/9. Gray will have a chance to sort things out Friday when he takes the hill against the Reds.

Freddy Peralta SP | TB
Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Can't find plate Saturday
Peralta didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's 5-4 win over the Twins, giving up four runs on three hits and six walks over four innings while striking out five.
In a matchup against fellow rookie phenom Fernando Romero, Peralta had trouble getting the ball over the plate consistently, throwing 44 of 82 pitches for strikes before leaving the game down 4-2. The Brewers' bats got him off the hook for the loss, however, and his 16.8 K/9 through his first 9.2 big-league innings remains impressive. With Chase Anderson (illness) and Zach Davies (shoulder) both potentially re-joining the roster this week, Peralta may get shifted to the bullpen or even sent down to Triple-A Colorado Springs, but his strikeout ability should land him back in the rotation soon enough.

Rich Hill SP | KC
Dodgers' Rich Hill: Lengthy absence likely due to blister issue
Hill is expected to miss significant time after his blister ripped open during Saturday's start against the Nationals, Pedro Moura of The Athletic Los Angeles reports. "This is as bad as I've seen it," manager Dave Roberts said.
Hill's troublesome history with blisters on his pitching hand resurfaced Saturday as he lasted just two pitches before being pulled. The Dodgers haven't officially place Hill on the disabled list, but Roberts alluded to the veteran needing a rehab assignment before he can get back on a major league mound. With that, look for Hill to be sidelined for some time and for the Dodgers to make the official roster move before Sunday's series finale.

Jose Quintana SP | COL
Cubs' Jose Quintana: Blanks Reds on Saturday
Quintana (5-3) picked up the win over the Reds in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader, giving up one hit and four walks over seven scoreless innings while striking out seven.
It's the fourth time this season the left-hander has walked four batters in a game, but unlike the previous three outings Quintana wasn't hurt by the free passes, as the Reds' only hit off him came in the fifth inning when they were already down 7-0. Quintana will carry a 4.47 ERA into his next start, likely to be next Saturday at home against the Giants.

Ross Stripling SP | KC
Dodgers' Ross Stripling: Strong outing in Game 1 of doubleheader
Stripling (1-1) picked up the win in Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Nationals. He struck out nine batters and allowed just one run over six innings.
Stripling helped save the Dodgers bullpen a bit, which came in handy in Game 2 of the twin bill with Rich Hill lasting just two pitches in his start. There were some impressive takeaways from Stripling's outing, such as his nine strikeouts backed up with zero walks and only four hits. With two cogs of the rotation already on the shelf before Hill's short start Saturday, it stands to reason that Stripling earned himself another turn in the rotation.

Jose Urena SP | LAA
Marlins' Jose Urena: Stays winless Saturday
Urena (0-7) took the loss against the Braves on Saturday, allowing four runs on five hits and a walk over six innings while striking out two.
The beleaguered right-hander threw 46 of 72 pitches for strikes before being lifted for pinch hitter J.B. Shuck, as another poor showing by the Marlins offense doomed Urena to his seventh loss in 10 starts. He'll carry a 4.55 ERA into his next outing Friday at home against the Nationals.

Joe Musgrove SP | SD
Pirates' Joe Musgrove: Could make debut next week
Musgrove (shoulder) said he will start Thursday against the Reds in Cincinnati, Chris Adamski of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
Musgrove may be jumping the gun with that news, as the team hasn't confirmed his return, although manager Clint Hurdle said a return is "possible" this coming week. The big right-hander made his fourth rehabilitation start Friday, throwing five innings and 96 pitches for Triple-A Indianapolis. That's enough pitches where Hurdle could feel comfortable putting Musgrove on the mound against major-league hitters.

Zach Eflin SP | BAL
Phillies' Zach Eflin: Strikes out four in no-decision
Eflin gave up two earned runs over 4.2 innings in a no-decision Saturday against the Cardinals. He notched four strikeouts while allowing three hits and three walks.
Eflin went mostly unscathed his first time through the Cardinals' order before running into trouble in the fourth, although some sloppy defense behind him didn't help matters. He was still effective overall and leaves Saturday with a 1.56 ERA and a 0.92 WHIP over three starts (17.1 IP). Unfortunately, Jerad Eickhoff's impending return from a lat injury leaves Eflin's status in the rotation in limbo.
