Cal Quantrill RP | TEX
Padres' Cal Quantrill: Earns win in relief
Quantrill (2-0) earned the win Monday against the Dodgers. He tossed three scoreless innings, allowing two hits while fanning three.
Quantrill came out of the bullpen in the third inning and turned in an impressive outing against one of the best offenses in the National League. He was coming off an appearance where he allowed three runs in 4.1 innings against the Rockies on Aug. 1, but he bounced back admirably here while not issuing a walk for the first time this season.

Robbie Ray SP | SD
Diamondbacks' Robbie Ray: Coughs up six runs
Ray allowed six runs on seven hits and three walks over 3.2 innings Monday, striking out six batters in the win over Colorado. He did not factor in the decision.
Thanks to a productive day by Arizona's offense, Ray avoided the loss despite the rough outing. He allowed a solo homer to Trevor Story in the first inning and was sent to the clubhouse after allowing four runs through 3.2 innings. Unfortunately for his ERA, two more runners came across to score that he left on base. The 6-foot-2 lefty owns an ugly 10.59 ERA and a 23:14 K:BB across 17 innings. Ray will look to get back in the win column against the Padres at home Saturday.

Logan Webb SP | SF
Giants' Logan Webb: Gets in jam in loss to Astros
Webb (1-1) took the loss Monday versus the Astros, allowing five runs (two earned) on four hits and a walk while striking out three in 3.1 innings.
The Giants committed three errors Monday, two of which came in the third inning during a four-run rally by the Astros. Webb can't be blamed for all the struggles, but he still needed 81 pitches to record 10 outs. The 23-year-old right-hander has a 2.81 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 13:6 K:BB in 16 innings this season. He's projected to start Sunday at home versus the Athletics.

Jon Gray SP | TEX
Rockies' Jon Gray: Handed second straight loss
Gray (0-2) allowed eight runs on 11 hits across 3.1 innings Monday, striking out two and taking the loss against Arizona.
The Diamondbacks wasted no time Monday, scoring two runs in the first inning, including a lead-off homer by Kole Calhoun. Things didn't get better for Gray as he allowed three runs in the third inning and another three runs before exiting in the fourth. Still looking for his first win of the year, the 28-year-old righty will face the Rangers at home Sunday.

Steven Matz RP | TB
Mets' Steven Matz: Hammered again by Nats
Matz (0-3) took the loss Monday as the Mets were routed 16-4 by the Nationals, surrendering eight runs on eight hits -- including three home runs -- over 4.1 innings. He struck out five.
The ball was flying out of Citi Field in this one, and the lefty served up a gopher ball to Asdrubal Cabrera in the second inning before Trea Turner and Juan Soto tagged him in the third. Matz finally got chased from the game in a seven-run fifth during which the Nats sent 12 men to the plate. His ERA now stands at a bloated 8.20 largely thanks to the efforts of the depending champs -- over his last two starts, both against Washington, Matz has coughed up 13 runs and five home runs in only 7.1 innings. He'll try to right the ship during his next outing Saturday in Philadelphia.

Adrian Houser SP | SF
Brewers' Adrian Houser: Allows four runs in loss
Houser (1-1) yielded four runs on six hits and a walk over five innings Monday, striking out four and taking the loss against Minnesota.
Houser was solid for most of the outing aside from a rough third inning; after allowing two hits and plunking a batter, the 27-year-old righty coughed up a massive grand slam to Eddie Rosario. He'll carry a 2.65 ERA into Saturday's road tilt with the Cubs.

Patrick Corbin SP | TOR
Nationals' Patrick Corbin: Cruises to second win
Corbin (2-0) picked up the win in Monday's 16-4 rout of the Mets, allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out four.
The southpaw fired five scoreless innings before running into a bit of trouble in the sixth, but by that point the Nats had a 14-0 lead. Corbin needed 87 pitches (54 strikes) to record his second quality start in three outings and reduce his ERA to 2.50. He'll look to keep rolling when he next takes the mound Saturday in Baltimore.

Kyle Hendricks SP | LAA
Cubs' Kyle Hendricks: Slated to pitch Wednesday
Hendricks is scheduled to start Wednesday against Cleveland, Russell Dorsey of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Hendricks was originally scheduled to pitch this past Sunday against the Cardinals, but the entire series was wiped out due to a coronavirus outbreak in the St. Louis organization. The righty will now take the mound Wednesday, which will be eight days after his most recent start. Hendricks has had two good outings this season sandwiched around one bad start, and he'll carry a 3.54 ERA and 0.93 WHIP into his next trip to the hill.

Aaron Nola SP | PHI
Phillies' Aaron Nola: Cruises to first win
Nola (1-1) allowed one run on two hits and one walk while striking out 10 over eight innings in a win over the Braves on Monday.
The Phillies put up 10 runs in the first two innings against Atlanta and Nola went into cruise control, with the only blemish being a solo homer off the bat of Travis d'Arnaud. Nola has made just three starts -- he was pushed back earlier in the season after the team's COVID-19 scare -- but he has been great when on the mound (10 hits, 27:2 K:BB in 19.1 innings). The right-hander seems to be getting back to his 2018 ace form and will look to keep it going later this week against the Mets.

Alex Wood RP | ATH
Dodgers' Alex Wood: Throws bullpen session
Wood (shoulder) threw a two-inning bullpen session Monday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Wood made just a single appearance this season before landing on the injured list with shoulder inflammation. He's still quite a while from being built up to a starter's workload, though it's possible the Dodgers could have him build up in a relief or piggyback role before he's ready to pitch deep into games. It remains unclear when he's expected to be activated, however.
