Steele (1-1) took the loss after he pitched 2.2 innings, giving up four runs on three hits while walking three and striking out one in Tuesday's loss to the Rays.

Steele gave up an RBI groundout to Manuel Margot in the second frame before running into trouble in the third inning, surrendering a two-run homer to Wander Franco and an RBI double to Brandon Lowe before getting yanked with two outs. The 26-year-old has struggled to pitch deep into games this season, tossing a total of 11 innings and giving up six runs over three starts on his way to a 1-1 record and 4.50 ERA. Steele will look to last longer in his next start, which tentatively lines up for Sunday at home against the Pirates.

Brubaker (0-2) picked up the loss Tuesday against the Brewers after tossing five innings, giving up four runs (two earned) on two hits while walking two and striking out six.

Brubaker surrendered a two-run home run to Rowdy Tellez in the bottom of the second inning before Kolten Wong later doubled, scoring two more unearned runs. The right-hander finished off his outing with three scoreless innings, producing his best start of the season. After being tagged with four earned runs in both of his prior starts, Brubaker took a step forward Tuesday. He will look to build off this showing his next time out.

Wainwright (2-1) earned the win Tuesday against the Marlins after giving up one run on five hits with six strikeouts and two walks over 5.2 innings.

The veteran right-hander kept Miami scoreless through five innings and retired the first two batters of the sixth, but he was pulled after surrendering a solo homer followed by a single. It was a nice rebound performance from Wainwright after he allowed four runs over 4.1 frames during his last start in Milwaukee, and he now has a 2.81 ERA through three outings this season. The 40-year-old lines up for an appealing matchup Sunday at Cincinnati outside of the usual ballpark effects.

Burnes (1-0) picked up the win Tuesday after he pitched seven innings, giving up two runs on four hits while striking out 10 in the Brewers' victory over the Pirates.

Burnes tossed five scoreless innings before surrendering a solo homer to Daniel Vogelbach in the top of the sixth and another one to Josh VanMeter in the seventh. The 27-year-old struck out a season-high 10 batters on the way to his first victory of the 2022 campaign. After struggling a little and giving up three runs over five frames in his season debut against the Cubs on Opening Day, Burnes has pitched 14 innings, surrendering just two runs while producing 18 strikeouts and only walking one. He'll look to keep it up in his next expected start Monday against the Giants at home.

Cabrera (biceps) will be activated from the 7-day injured list Thursday to make a start for Low-A Jupiter in the affiliate's game against St. Lucie, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

The Marlins optioned Cabrera to Low-A coming out of spring training so he could conduct his rehab program for his biceps injury at the team's facility, which is also located in Jupiter. As a result, Cabrera's outing Thursday won't be considered a rehab assignment, even though he's eventually expected to move into the rotation at Triple-A Jacksonville. Cabrera ended up making seven late-season starts for the Marlins in 2021, and once he's fully ramped up at Triple-A, he'll likely profile as the next man up to step into the big-league rotation if the Marlins require another starter.

Castillo (shoulder) is scheduled to begin a minor-league rehab assignment Sunday, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.

The 29-year-old threw 35 pitches during live batting practice Tuesday, and the next step in his rehab will be pitching in minor-league games. Castillo is expected to report to Triple-A Lousiville or High-A Dayton and be limited to about 50 pitches. He'll likely require two additional rehab starts after Sunday before returning from the injured list.

Cobb was placed on the 10-day injured list with a right adductor strain ahead of Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Mets.

Cobb exited his start during Game 1 of Tuesday's twin bill after 4.1 innings and will now spend some time on the shelf. It's unclear exactly how much time the 34-year-old will miss, though he'll be eligible to be reinstated from the injured list April 30.

Ashby is not scheduled to start during the weekend series against the Phillies, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Ashby has made one start and two relief appearances so far this season, escaping with a 1.00 ERA through nine innings despite a 1.56 WHIP. He slotted between Adrian Houser and Eric Lauer last weekend, but it will be Houser on Saturday and Lauer on Sunday this week. It's possible the Brewers continue to fluctuate between a five-man and six-man rotation depending on whether or not they have a day off in a given week. Milwaukee has an off day this Thursday but won't have another one until May 2, so it's possible Ashby could be set for another start or two soon.

Cobb was diagnosed with a right groin injury after leaving Game 1 of Tuesday's doubleheader during the fifth inning, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.

Cobb surrendered three runs (two earned) on six hits with four strikeouts and zero walks over 4.1 innings prior to his exit. The severity of the injury remains uncertain, and the veteran right-hander should be considered questionable for his next turn through the rotation until the Giants update his status.

Cobb was removed in the fifth inning of his start Tuesday in the first game of a doubleheader with the Mets due to an apparent injury, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. He allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits and no walks while striking out four over 4.1 innings.

After surrendering back-to-back one-out doubles, Cobb was visited on the mound by a trainer and was escorted to the dugout. Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic notes that Cobb's fastball velocity was sitting at a relatively standard 94 miles per hour in the fifth inning, and the right-hander exhibited no obvious sign of distress while he was on the mound. Expect the Giants to provide an update on his condition after the game.
