Steele (back) will throw a bullpen session Saturday, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Steele has been sidelined for nearly a month due to a back issue but has been throwing bullpen sessions for two weeks. Although it's encouraging that he's continued to throw off a mound recently, it's not yet clear whether the southpaw will be able to return to game action over the final week and a half of the regular season.

Davis was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday.

Davis spent just over a week with the major-league club, but he didn't make his major-league debut during that time. The right-hander will head back to Albuquerque after Alex Colome was reinstated from the bereavement list Saturday.

Ashcraft (biceps) was reinstated from the 15-day injured list prior to Saturday's start against the Brewers.

Ashcraft was on the injured list for just over a month due to biceps soreness, but he recently completed a rehab assignment in which he allowed 10 runs (eight earned) on 15 hits and a walk while striking out 11 in 5.2 innings over two appearances. He'll have the chance to make a few more starts for the Reds down the stretch as long as he can remain healthy.

Grove is scheduled to start Sunday's game against the Cardinals.

The Dodgers will keep Grove on hand as part of a six-man rotation after he made his first turn of the week in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader with the Diamondbacks. He took a no-decision in that outing after allowing five runs (three earned) over five frames, bringing his ERA to 4.66 across his first 19.1 innings in the big leagues. With the Dodgers well on their way to finishing with the National League's top record, Grove could remain part of a six-man rotation over the final week and a half of the season as the team aims to give its other starting pitchers added rest in advance of the playoffs.

Nola (10-12) picked up the win in Friday's 9-1 rout of Atlanta, allowing four hits and three walks over six scoreless innings. He struck out eight.

The Phillies staked the right-hander to a 4-0 lead after two innings, and Nola had little difficulty recording his 17th quality start of the season. He generated 17 swinging strikes on 104 pitches, and the 29-year-old has now won double-digit games while striking out 200-plus batters for the third time in his career, but the first since 2019.

Odorizzi (5-6) took the loss in Friday's 9-1 rout at the hands of the Phillies, surrendering eight runs on 10 hits and three walks over four innings. He struck out six.

The Ks salvaged a little fantasy value for the right-hander, but this was still Odorizzi's worst performance since being shipped to Atlanta at the trade deadline. His 5.97 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and 33:14 K:BB through 37.2 innings for his new club are shaky at best, but with Spencer Strider (oblique) landing on the IL this week, Odorizzi's spot in the rotation for the rest of the season seems secure.

Garrett (3-6) picked up the win in Friday's 5-2 victory over the Nationals, allowing one run on five hits over six innings. He struck out six without walking a batter.

The 25-year-old southpaw delivered his fifth quality start of the season in impressive fashion, tossing six shutout innings after Lane Thomas led off the game with a solo shot. Garrett pounded the zone, firing 60 of 82 pitches for strikes, and this was the first time in his big-league career he worked at least six innings without issuing a free pass. It's taken him awhile to reach his potential, but the 2016 first-round pick seems to be making a place for himself in Miami's 2023 rotation plans.

Gray (7-10) took the loss Friday, giving up four runs on eight hits and a walk over six innings as the Nationals were downed 5-2 by the Marlins. He struck out three.

For the first time since June 8, Gray didn't allow a homer while also walking less than two batters, but it still didn't result in a particularly effective outing. The right-hander has been tagged for at least four runs in four straight starts, and while his numbers on the season aren't good, he's gotten even worse since the All-Star break with a 6.57 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 46:25 K:BB through 50.2 innings over his last 10 trips to the mound. A career-high workload of 142.2 innings may be at least partially to blame for his late-season regression.

Strider was placed on the 15-day injured list with a left oblique strain Saturday, retroactive to Sept. 21.

Strider dealt with an oblique issue following his most recent start, and he'll ultimately be sidelined for the remainder of the regular season. The right-hander will be eligible to return for the start of the postseason, and he's expected to be ready for the team's first playoff series, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports. Bryce Elder is a strong candidate to remain in Atlanta's rotation, while Alan Rangel was recalled Saturday.

Feltner gave up two earned runs on five hits and one walk while striking out three over five innings in a 4-3 victory over the Padres on Friday. He did not factor into the decision.

Feltner came into the game with an ERA of 6.05, so the Rockies are probably satisfied with his five innings of two-run ball. Feltner doesn't have swing-and-miss stuff, and he has accumulated only 75 strikeouts in 85.1 innings this season. His chase rate is in the bottom three percent according to Baseball Savant. The 26-year-old right-hander is tentatively expected to make his next start at San Francisco.
