Webb gave up two runs in the first, and it could have been worse as Andrew Vaughn was thrown out at home by Mike Yastrzemski to end the inning. The right-hander was able to settle down and tossed three shutout frames before giving up back-to-back RBI knocks to Hanser Alberto and Luis Robert in the fifth, though he was able to get out of the inning before being replaced to start the sixth. Webb posted a 2.90 ERA in 2022, and while his ERA sits at 6.55 through two starts this season, his 16:2 K:BB is encouraging.

Luzardo didn't factor in the decision in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the Twins, giving up one run on five hits and a walk over seven innings. He struck out 10.

The southpaw was dominant in his second start of the year, generating a stunning 20 swinging strikes among his 99 pitches and keeping Minnesota off the board until tiring a bit in his final frame. Luzardo looks healthy and ready to break out in 2023, posting a 0.71 ERA and 15:5 K:BB through his first 12.2 innings, and he next lines up to face the Phillies on the road early next week.

Greene and the Reds won't play Thursday after the Phillies postponed their home opener to Friday because of rain, Charlie Goldsmith of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Greene was supposed to make his second start of the season Wednesday versus the Cubs before that game got banged due to inclement weather in Cincinnati. The waiting game rolls on for the 23-year-old right-hander as April storms continue to move across parts of the United States. He'll face off against Zack Wheeler in Friday's makeup game at Citizens Bank Park.

Wheeler will have his next start pushed back to Friday following the postponement of Thursday's game between the Reds and Phillies, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

The weather on Thursday in Philly is expected to be nasty, so the club will host its home opener a day later instead. Wheeler will square off against Hunter Greene on Friday.

Megill won't make his scheduled start Thursday versus the Marlins after the game was postposed due to impending inclement weather, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

The Mets' home opener will now be played Friday instead. Scheduled starters Megill and Edward Cabrera will get an extra day of rest and take the ball Friday.

Brewers manager Craig Counsell announced Wednesday that Ashby needs arthroscopic surgery on his left shoulder, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

The procedure is scheduled for Friday and could knock Ashby out for the entire season. He was placed on the 15-day injured list just before Opening Day after being diagnosed with an impingement and slight labral tear back in late February. The initial hope was that the 24-year-old southpaw might be able to join the Brewers by mid-May, but treatment and rest failed to solve the issue. Milwaukee will likely soon move him to the 60-day IL.

Verlander (shoulder) underwent a follow-up MRI on Wednesday which showed reduced inflammation, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Verlander has kept throwing since being diagnosed shortly before Opening Day with a low-grade teres major muscle strain. Though Verlander's condition continues to improve and he won't have to halt his throwing program, the Mets aren't yet providing a timeline for him to make his team debut.

Sanchez (triceps) is expected to throw a three-inning simulated game Thursday at extended spring training, MLB.com reports.

The three-inning outing represents a slight increase in Sanchez's workload after he tossed a two-inning sim game last Saturday. If all goes well Thursday, Sanchez could head out to a minor-league affiliate for what would likely be a multi-start rehab assignment before he's activated from the Phillies' 15-day injured list.

Stroman and the Cubs won't play Wednesday against the Reds after the game was postponed due to inclement weather in Cincinnati.

The two teams will make up the postponed game as part of a split doubleheader Sept. 1. Assuming Stroman didn't go through too extensive of a warmup before Wednesday's game was ultimately postponed, he shouldn't have to be pushed back in the rotation and will likely start the Cubs' next contest Friday versus the Rangers at Wrigley Field.
