Quintana (ribs) gave up two runs on four hits and three walks over 2.2 innings while striking out two in a rehab start for Triple-A Syracuse on Friday.

The left-hander got stretched out to 64 pitches, but only 33 of them were strikes and he got taken deep by career minor-league Jamie Westbrook. The shaky outing probably ends any chance Quintana had of joining the Mets' rotation before the All-Star break, but if David Peterson struggles badly in his start Sunday against the Giants, the Mets could have a tough decision to make the following weekend. More likely, Quintana gets activated from the injured list and makes his season debut after the break.

Sanchez (0-2) took the loss Friday, allowing two runs on seven hits and one walk over six innings against the Nationals. He struck out six.

Sanchez finished with season highs in innings completed and strikeouts, but he still took a second consecutive loss after not getting enough run support. The 26-year-old hasn't been flashy, but he's getting results, posting a 3.26 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 20:4 K:BB across 19.1 innings. Sanchez figures to remain in the rotation going forward if he can continue to put up solid numbers.

Gray (6-6) earned the win Friday, allowing one run on six hits and one walk over six innings in a 2-1 win over the Phillies. He struck out eight.

After allowing at least four runs in three of four appearances, Gray has found his groove again, giving up just one run over his last two starts (11.1 innings). The right-hander's eight strikeouts were his most since notching a season-high nine against the Mets on April 25. Overall, Gray sports a 3.30 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 86:43 K:BB across 95.1 innings, and he remains entrenched atop Washington's rotation. His next start is lined up for a home matchup against the Reds.

Bido didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 8-7 win over the Brewers, giving up four runs on four hits and a walk over 3.1 innings. He failed to strike out a batter.

The 27-year-old rookie had had shortest outing since joining the rotation in the middle of June, tossing 45 of 73 pitches for strikes before leaving the game with the Bucs down 4-3, but some late-inning heroics got Bido off the hook for his second loss. Through his first four big-league outings, he carries a 4.74 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 18:6 K:BB in 19 innings, but unless Roansy Contreras gets stretched back out, Pittsburgh doesn't seem to have any better options for its fifth starter spot. Bido lines up for one more start before the All-Star break -- a tough road matchup against the Dodgers.

Peralta didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 8-7 loss to the Pirates, giving up three runs on three hits and two walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out eight.

It was a strong performance from the right-hander, who generated 31 called or swinging strikes among his 108 pitches, and he exited the game in line for his sixth win of the season before the Brewers bullpen made a mess. Peralta continues to be a consistent source of strikeouts, but not much else -- through six starts and 32.1 innings in June he posted a 4.73 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 39:12 K:BB while going 0-3. He'll take the mound one more time before the All-Star break, an outing likely to come at home next week against the Cubs.

Lugo did not factor into the decision Friday, allowing one unearned run on five hits over six innings against Cincinnati. He struck out six and didn't record a walk.

Lugo was sharp through six innings and recorded his most strikeouts since April 21. It was arguably the right-hander's best outing of the year, but he still took a no-decision, as the Padres offense faltered versus Cincinnati. He's made three straight starts since being activated from the injured list in mid-May, and the results have been good, as he's posted a 2.25 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 15:1 K:BB across 16 innings during that stretch. Lugo's next start is lined up for a home matchup against the Angels.

Ashcraft was not involved in the decision Friday, when he allowed one run on three hits and two walks while striking out seven over 6.2 innings in a 7-5 extra-innings win over San Diego.

Ashcraft kept the team in the game until Cincinnati's bats got going over the final innings. It was a promising outing for the right-hander, who was knocked around in his last start and had an ugly 12.82 ERA in his previous eight outings. Ashcraft looked like the confident hurler seen earlier in the season, when he posted 2.00 ERA and averaged six innings over his first six starts.

Steele (9-2) earned the win Friday, allowing three hits and one walk over 6.1 scoreless innings against Cleveland. He struck out six.

Steele plunked the first batter he faced and followed that up by committing a throwing error while trying to start a routine double play, bringing Jose Ramirez to the plate with runners on first and second and no outs. However, the left-hander proceeded to retire the next three batters, including strikeouts of Ramirez and Josh Bell, to escape the first and then went on cruise control. The left-hander's scoreless outing lowered his ERA to 2.43, which is the best mark in the National League, and he sports a solid 76:19 K:BB across 85.1 innings. Steele has emerged as a workhorse at the top of Chicago's rotation this year, and his next start is lined up for a divisional matchup in Milwaukee.

Soroka (1-1) allowed three runs on five hits over six innings Friday, striking out seven and earning a win over Miami.

Soroka gave up all three runs on two homers in the third inning but otherwise looked sharp. It was his first MLB win since September 2019. The 25-year-old is still looking to return to his old form but progress is being made; over his last three outings with Triple-A Gwinnett, he registered a 1.42 ERA with 19 punchouts over 18 frames. However, he still owns a 6.89 ERA at the MLB level. Soroka may have bought himself another turn in the rotation, which is projected to be in Cleveland next week.

Henry improved to 5-1 in Friday's win over the Angels after striking out eight while allowing one run on four hits and two walks over 5.2 innings.

Henry set a new season high for strikeouts and now has only four earned runs allowed over his last three starts. The southpaw has rebounded nicely after allowing 10 runs across nine innings pitched to begin the month of June.
