Cameron took a no-decision Wednesday against Texas, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks in 4.2 innings. He struck out five.

Cameron's streak of starts of at least five innings was stopped at seven, and the three walks were his most since June 27 against the Dodgers. On a positive note, the rookie left-hander recorded 11 whiffs and registered his most strikeouts since his July 27 outing against Cleveland. Cameron will take a strong 2.53 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 83:31 K:BB over 103 frames into his next scheduled appearance, which is slated for next week in Chicago against the last-place White Sox.

Festa (shoulder) will throw a live batting practice session Saturday, the Minnesota Star Tribune reports.

If all goes well, he could begin a rehab assignment at some point the following week. Festa went on the 15-day injured list July 23 due to right shoulder inflammation. He later received two anti-inflammatory injections in the injured shoulder.

Messick didn't factor into the decision Wednesday against the Diamondbacks, allowing one run on seven hits and one walk while striking out six over 6.2 innings.

Starting in his MLB debut, the 24-year-old southpaw settled in after yielding an RBI single to Lourdes Gurriel in the first inning, keeping Arizona off the board the rest of the way while working deep into the contest. With the strong outing, the rookie has made a compelling case to remain in Cleveland's rotation moving forward. Messick also arrived in the majors on the heels of a solid season in Columbus, where he posted a 3.47 ERA and a 119:42 K:BB over 98.2 innings.

Valdez (11-7) took the loss Wednesday against the Tigers, allowing seven runs on seven hits and four walks across five innings. He struck out two.

Valdez got off to a dreadful start Wednesday, allowing the first six batters to reach safely in an eventual six-run inning. While the left-hander settled down and held Detroit to one run over his final four frames, the Astros couldn't overcome the early deficit in a 7-2 defeat. Valdez has struggled of late, posting a 7.33 ERA in his last four outings (23.1 innings). Overall, his ERA sits at 3.32 with a 1.21 WHIP and 153:54 K:BB over 25 starts (157.1 innings) this season. Valdez will look to right the ship in his next outing, currently scheduled for next week at home against the Rockies.

Castillo (8-7) took the loss Wednesday against the Phillies, allowing three runs on 10 hits and two walks over four innings. He struck out two.

Castillo has now allowed nine runs on 19 hits across just eight innings in his last two starts after pitching to a 2.25 ERA in his previous eight outings (48 innings). Overall, Castillo's ERA sits at 3.57 with a 1.27 WHIP and 127:40 K:BB across 26 starts (146.1 innings). The 32-year-old right-hander will look to get back on track his next time out, currently scheduled to come next week at home against the Padres.

Bassitt (11-7) took the loss Wednesday against the Pirates, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out 10.

Bassitt got off to a rocky start, allowing two runs with two outs in the first inning. The veteran right-hander would settle down and blank Pittsburgh over his final 4.2 frames while matching a season-high with 10 strikeouts. However, Bassitt would ultimately wind up with the loss, as the Blue Jays failed to generate much offensively in a 2-1 defeat. Bassitt has gone five starts without a win while struggling to a 5.68 ERA in that span. Overall, he sports a 4.18 ERA with a 1.34 WHIP and 142 strikeouts across 144.1 innings this season.

Morton (9-10) allowed two runs on three hits across six innings of work to earn the win Wednesday against the Astros. He walked three and struck out eight.

Despite facing a tough Houston lineup, Morton was able to log another quality start for the Tigers and pick up his second win with his new team. The veteran has now made four starts for Detroit since coming over in a trade before the deadline, and he's mostly looked sharp with a 3.63 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 29 strikeouts across 22.1 innings. Morton had a 5.42 ERA across 23 appearances for the Orioles earlier in the season, so fantasy managers may not completely trust him yet, but he's starting to emerge as a potentially useful option down the stretch. The 41-year-old righty lines up to make his next start against the Athletics on the road.

The Angels placed Soriano on the paternity list Wednesday.

Soriano is tentatively lined up to start against the Cubs this weekend, and he should still be available to pitch since players can spend only 1-to-3 days on the paternity list. The Angels recalled Chase Silseth from Triple-A Salt Lake, who could make a spot start if Soriano is away from the team for longer than expected. Soriano has gone 2-2 in six starts since the All-Star break with a 4.29 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 32:9 K:BB across 35.2 innings.

The Tigers will use Urquidy (elbow) as a reliever if/when he's activated from the 60-day injured list, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Making his way back from June 2024 Tommy John surgery, Urquidy has allowed one run with a 4:0 K:BB over five innings covering four rehab starts. He hasn't gone more than two frames in any appearance, and the right-hander will continue to work in shorter, more frequent outings as the Tigers prep him for a relief role. Detroit has a $4 million option on Urquidy for 2026, and it could use him as a starter next year if that's picked up. However, there's no room for him in the rotation now, and there's also a lack of time to get stretched out.

Manager A.J. Hinch said Tuesday that the Tigers have no expectation for Madden (shoulder) to pitch in any games this season, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Madden will continue his throwing progression as the season winds down, but the Tigers are making it a priority for the 25-year-old to enter the offseason at full health rather than counting on him to contribute in the minors or majors in 2025. The right-hander made six appearances (one start) for Detroit as a rookie last season but didn't make much of a run for a spot in the Opening Day rotation in spring training before he was shut down in early March with a rotator cuff strain.
