  • Angels' Sam Aldegheri: Heading back to Triple-A

The Angels optioned Aldegheri to Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday. Grayson Rodriguez (back) is expected to return from the 15-day injured list the next time the Angels need a fifth starter, and Aldegheri will end up giving up his spot in the rotation and heading back to the minors. Aldegheri's demotion comes after he went 1-3 with a 8.10 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 10:9 K:BB in 16.2 innings over his last four starts.

  • Angels' Sam Aldegheri: Done in by poor first frame

Aldegheri (3-4) took the loss against Boston on Saturday, allowing three runs on one hit and four walks while striking out two batters over four innings. Aldegheri gave up all of his runs in the first inning, when he walked two of the first three batters he faced before Willson Contreras tagged him for a three-run homer. Following that blast, the lefty hurler allowed only three more baserunners (on two walks and an error) and no more runs, but the damage was enough to send him to the loss. The four walks were a season worst for Aldegheri, though he's issued three free passes on two occasions and has a poor 4.5 BB/9 on the campaign. Grayson Rodriguez (back) is nearing the end of his stint on the IL, and Aldegheri is a candidate to be removed from the rotation when Rodriguez returns.

  • Angels' Sam Aldegheri: Earns third win

Aldegheri (3-3) earned the win Sunday, allowing one run on five hits and a walk over five innings against the Athletics. He struck out four. Aldegheri turned in a solid effort, tossing four scoreless innings before running into trouble in the fifth frame, though he limited the damage to just one run. Sunday's outing was a step in the right direction for the young left-hander after he allowed 11 earned runs across 7.2 innings over his previous two starts. Aldegheri will take a 4.85 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 20:13 K:BB across 29.2 innings and eight appearances (five starts) into his next outing, tentatively scheduled for Saturday against the Red Sox.

  • Angels' Sam Aldegheri: Staying in rotation for now

Aldegheri is scheduled to start Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks at Chase Field. He'll be making a second straight turn in the rotation spot that previously belonged to Jack Kochanowicz (elbow), who is slated to undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery in the near future. Aldegheri picked up his second win of the season in his previous start last Friday, working five innings and striking out four batters while yielding two runs (one earned) on three hits and three walks. Over five appearances (two starts) for the Halos on the season, Aldegheri owns a 2.12 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 12:8 K:BB in 17 innings.

  • Angels' Sam Aldegheri: Pitches well in second start

Aldegheri (2-1) allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits and three walks while striking out four over five innings to earn the win over the Rays on Friday. Aldegheri is getting the first chance to fill the rotation spot that became open when Jack Kochanowicz (elbow) was shut down ahead of his upcoming Tommy John surgery. This was a good performance for Aldegheri, though he threw just 45 of 74 pitches for strikes. He's pitched to a 2.12 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 12:8 K:BB over 17 innings across five appearances (two starts) in the majors this season. The southpaw will need to get the walks in check, but the Angels should have plenty of patience to let him work through things in the majors. He is tentatively expected to make his next start at Arizona.

  • Angels' Sam Aldegheri: Entering rotation Friday

Aldegheri will start Friday's home game against the Rays, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. After the southpaw was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday, the Angels initially made him available out of the bullpen. Aldegheri made a one-inning, eight-pitch appearance in Monday's extra-inning loss to the Astros but hasn't worked since, so he'll be ready to step into the vacant fifth spot in the rotation. With Jack Kochanowicz (elbow) headed for season-ending Tommy John surgery, Aldegheri should have a clear path to a permanent spot if he performs well. The 24-year-old has permitted three runs on 11 hits and five walks while striking out eight batters over 12 innings at the big-league level this season but posted an unsightly 7.24 ERA, 1.72 WHIP and 32:23 K:BB across 46 frames at Triple-A.

  • Angels' Sam Aldegheri: Recalled by Halos

The Angels recalled Aldegheri from Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday. The move corresponds with the Angels placing right-hander Jack Kochanowicz on the 15-day injured list due to right elbow inflammation. Aldegheri has spent the majority of 2026 in Triple-A, where he has a 3-4 record in nine starts with a 7.24 ERA, 1.72 WHIP and 32:23 K:BB across 46 innings. He's appeared in three major-league games for the Angels this year, most recently working Tuesday against the Rockies and tossing 5.1 scoreless innings while allowing four hits and two walks with five strikeouts. Even with Kochanowicz shelved, Aldegheri is not guaranteed to join the rotation, with Caden Dana and George Klassen also in the mix for spot starts, per Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com.

  • Angels' Sam Aldegheri: Back in minors

The Angels optioned Aldegheri to Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday. After pitching 5.1 shutout innings out of the bullpen in Tuesday's contest, Aldegheri will head back to Triple-A to make room for Shaun Anderson, who was selected to the active roster in a corresponding move. Aldegheri now owns a 2.45 ERA and 1.36 WHIP through 11 innings in the majors and could get another look with the Halos later this year.

  • Angels' Sam Aldegheri: Sent back to Triple-A

The Angels optioned Aldegheri to Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday. Aldegheri made what turned out to be just a spot start in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the White Sox, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks over four innings. He will return to the rotation at Salt Lake, where he's posted a 7.77 ERA and 23:13 K:BB over 24.1 frames this season.

  • Angels' Sam Aldegheri: Drawing start Tuesday

Aldegheri will start Tuesday's game against the White Sox, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports. Aldegheri was just recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on Monday, and he will grab the rotation spot vacated by the injured Yusei Kikuchi (shoulder). The left-handed Aldegheri made one relief appearance for the Halos earlier this season, yielding one run while striking out two over 1.2 innings. He holds a 7.77 ERA and 23:13 K:BB over 24.1 frames with Salt Lake this season.

  • Angels' Sam Aldegheri: Sent back to Triple-A

The Angels optioned Aldegheri to Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday. Aldegheri made his season debut Thursday against the Yankees and gave up one earned run on a solo home run in 1.2 innings. He'll now rejoin the rotation at Triple-A Salt Lake and be replaced on the big-league roster by Walbert Urena.

  • Angels' Sam Aldegheri: Moving up to majors

The Angels are expected to recall Aldegheri from Triple-A Salt Lake on Tuesday, Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports. Aldegheri has been roughed up for 16 runs with an 11:10 K:BB over 13.1 innings in his first three starts with Salt Lake. The lefty is on four days' rest, however, so he will give the Halos some much-needed length in the bullpen.

  • Angels' Sam Aldegheri: Headed to Triple-A

Aldegheri was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday. Aldegheri appeared in two games with the Angels during spring training, giving up two runs on four hits and four walks while striking out four batters over 4.1 innings. The 24-year-old struggled to a 7.90 ERA and 2.20 WHIP over 13.2 innings in four appearances, including two starts, with the Angels in 2025. He will now head to Salt Lake ahead of the regular season, and he'll look to impress at the Triple-A level in an attempt to get another shot with the major-league club in the near future.

  • Angels' Sam Aldegheri: Yields four runs in loss

Aldegheri (0-2) took the loss against the Astros on Sunday, allowing four runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out five across 4.2 innings. Aldegheri gave up a run in the first inning but managed to keep the Astros off the board through the next three frames. He was brought back out for the fifth, only to be tagged for three more runs on homers from Yainer Diaz and Ramon Urias before being pulled. Aldegheri spent most of the 2025 season in Triple-A but appeared in four major-league games for the Angels, including two starts in September. He'll end the year with the big club with a 7.90 ERA and 2.20 WHIP over 13.2 innings, and he'll end his season in Triple-A with an 8-8 record across 24 starts with a 3.78 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 113:60 K:BB in 133.1 innings.

  • Angels' Sam Aldegheri: Gets nod for season finale

Aldegheri is slated to start Sunday's game against the Astros in Anaheim. He'll take a second straight turn through the rotation to close out the season after he was dealt a loss Tuesday against the Royals last week. Through three appearances (one start) with the Angels this season, the young southpaw has allowed eight earned runs on 13 hits and seven walks while striking out seven over nine innings.

  • Angels' Sam Aldegheri: Takes loss in first start

Aldegheri (0-1) took the loss Tuesday, allowing three runs on seven hits and two walks over 4.2 innings against the Royals. He struck out three. Aldegheri stumbled out of the gate Tuesday, giving up hits to the first two batters he faced and ultimately surrendering a pair of runs in the opening frame. This marked the southpaw's first big-league start of the season and his first MLB appearance since July 8. Through three appearances spanning nine innings, Aldegheri owns an 8.00 ERA and 2.22 WHIP.

  • Angels' Sam Aldegheri: Slated to start Tuesday

Aldegheri will start Tuesday's series opener versus the Royals in Anaheim, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports. The Angels recalled Aldegheri from Triple-A Salt Lake on Thursday after Jose Soriano (forearm) was placed on the injured list in a corresponding move, and since Aldegheri wasn't needed out of the bullpen in the Halos' weekend series in Colorado, he'll end up slotting into Soriano's spot in the rotation. Though he was tagged for seven runs (five earned) in 4.1 innings over his prior two long-relief appearances with the big club earlier this summer, Aldegheri has excelled since the All-Star break while pitching out of the rotations for Salt Lake and Double-A Rocket City, notching a 2.43 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 44:15 K:BB in 55.2 innings. Unless the Angels elect to expand the rotation to six men, Aldegheri will tentatively line up for two starts during the last week of the season, with his second turn set to come in Sunday's finale versus the Astros.

  • Angels' Sam Aldegheri: Joining big-league club

The Angels will recall Aldegheri from Triple-A Salt Lake, Ari Alexander of KPRC 2 Houston reports. The Angels have not announced any probable pitchers for their weekend series in Colorado, and Aldegheri could slot into the rotation one of those days. Aldegheri boasts a 2.52 ERA and 50:20 K:BB over 60.2 innings covering his last 10 starts between Double-A Rocket City and Salt Lake. The lefty has made two relief appearances for the Angels this season, yielding seven runs (five earned) across 4.1 frames.

He struck out two of the 15 batters in which he faced and threw a total of 64 pitches. The Angels needed a fresh bullpen arm and selected the contract of veteran reliever Carson Fulmer.
