Manager Mike Matheny said Friday that Bubic will operate out of the bullpen going forward, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

The 24-year-old was unable to escape the first inning during his start Wednesday, and he'll now shift to a bullpen role. Bubic threw 24 pitches during that contest and will be available to pitch Saturday versus the Orioles. It remains unclear who will replace him in the starting rotation.

Hill was placed on the COVID-19 injured list Friday, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

Hill hasn't yet tested positive for COVID-19 but is experiencing symptoms and will isolate from the team as a precautionary measure. While he'll be eligible to return as soon as he clears the league's protocols, his timetable depends on whether he ultimately tests positive. As long as you keep your expectations for this year in check, you won't be disappointed; after all, Kirby is arguably the best pitcher in the minor leagues not named Grayson Rodriguez.

Cole won't start as scheduled Friday against the Rangers since the game was postponed due to inclement weather.

The game will be made up via a doubleheader Sunday, while Cole will start Saturday's contest, Kristie Ackert of the New York Daily News reports. The veteran right-hander hasn't allowed a run over his past two starts with a 15:3 K:BB across 12.2 innings.
