Martin was optioned to Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday.

Martin made one appearance after being recalled July 29, but he will head back to the minors for the time being. Having already been called up several times already this season, Martin could be back with the big club before the campaign comes to a close.

Skubal was diagnosed with left forearm inflammation Tuesday and is expected to miss at least one turn through Detroit's starting rotation, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

The left-hander exited Monday's start with left arm fatigue after five scoreless innings, and it now appears he could be headed to the injured list. Skubal has been a bright spot for the Tigers this year with a 3.52 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 117:32 K:BB over 117.2 innings, and the team is likely to exercise significant caution since he's dealing with a forearm injury.

Suarez will start Tuesday's game against the A's, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

The left-hander last started July 26 against the Royals, and he'll take the mound again Tuesday after previously scheduled starter Noah Syndergaard was traded to the Phillies. Suarez has a 5.01 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 48:23 K:BB across 50.1 innings this season.

Manning (shoulder) was activated from the injured list Tuesday.

It was reported last week that Manning would rejoin the Tigers on Tuesday, and he will indeed do just that. He will jump right back into Detroit's rotation and take the ball Tuesday night against the Twins.

The Mariners acquired Boyd (elbow) from the Giants on Tuesday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.

Boyd's move appears to be an addendum to the previously reported trade which sent Curt Casali (oblique) from San Francisco to Seattle in exchange for Michael Stryffeler, meaning the Mariners will be getting a pair of injured players in exchange for the Double-A reliever. Boyd hasn't thrown a pitch in an organized game this year as he makes his way back from flexor tendon surgery, but he resumed throwing in late July after a six-week setback. He's been a starter throughout his career, but given the length of his absence, the Mariners will likely limit him to multi-inning relief duty upon his return, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports. Boyd is set to become a free agent this winter.

The Twins acquired Mahle from the Reds on Tuesday in exchange for Spencer Steer, Christian Encarnacion-Strand and Steven Hajjar, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

Minnesota was eager to bolster its rotation ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline and was able to do just that with the addition of Mahle, who had been the No. 2 starter for the Reds for most of the season. Though his ratios had taken a small step back compared to 2020 and 2021, Mahle's 4.40 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 17.0 percent strikeout rate still make him a viable starter for a potential playoff series. Mahle is likely to slide into the rotation spot that Aaron Sanchez filled Monday and could get his first start with the Twins during the team's four-game home series with the Blue Jays this weekend.

Single-A Stockton activated Hoglund (elbow) from its injured list Tuesday, Melissa Lockard of The Athletic reports.

Hoglund is scheduled to make his full-season debut this week after he was on the shelf for the first four months of the 2022 campaign while recovering from the Tommy John procedure he underwent in May 2021. He was cleared to begin a rehab assignment in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League on July 23 and looked sharp over his two appearances, during which he struck out seven batters over five innings while allowing one unearned run.

Chirinos (elbow) is scheduled to make a rehab appearance Tuesday for Single-A Charleston.

He had his rehab assignment transferred over from the Rays' rookie-level Florida Complex League affiliate, with whom he recently made three appearances and struck out three over four scoreless innings. He's working his way back from the surgery he underwent last fall on his fractured right elbow, a procedure that was proceeded by August 2020 Tommy John surgery. Chirinos will likely need the full 30-day rehab window to get stretched out before the Rays activate him from the 60-day injured list.

Velasquez (finger) is likely to return as a multi-inning reliever once he is activated from the injured list, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.

Velasquez has served as both a starter and reliever for the White Sox this season, though he was appearing out of the bullpen prior to suffering a finger injury. He is set to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte in the coming days and could be back quickly if he is only being asked to work a couple innings per appearance.

Watkins (4-1) picked up the win Monday, allowing one run on five hits over six innings in a 7-2 victory over the Rangers. He struck out five without walking a batter.

The Orioles handed the right-hander a 4-0 lead by the top of the second inning, and Watkins cruised from there, tossing 55 of 88 pitches before exiting. All four of his wins and all three of his quality starts on the year have come in his last six trips to the mound, a stretch in which he sports a dazzling 1.85 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 26:5 K:BB through 34 innings.
