Gonzales (8-12) gave up two runs (one earned) on six hits and two walks while striking out one over 5.1 innings to earn the win in a 10-2 victory over the Athletics on Friday.

Gonzales took advantage of a favorable matchup against the weak Athletics lineup to churn out his eighth win of the season despite only striking out one batter. The soft-tossing lefty got plenty of run support and pitched to contact before coming out of the game at 79 pitches. The positive start lowered his ERA to 4.08 after a rough ride his last time out against the Rangers. Gonzales has an elevated 1.41 WHIP and has struck out only 75 batters in 134.2 innings this season. He is tentatively expected to make his next start against the Guardians.

Irvin (6-11) gave up six runs (five earned) on six hits and two walks while striking out two over six innings to take the loss in a 10-2 defeat against the Mariners on Friday.

Irvin has been good this season but he has now struggled in two consecutive starts. He was burned for five earned runs his last time out against Houston and the Mariners took him deep twice to hand him his 11th loss of the campaign. Both long balls came off the bat of Eugenio Suarez. Irvin has now given up 10 earned runs over his last 12 innings pitched. He will look to regain his effectiveness in his next expected start against the Marlins.

Bundy (7-5) gave up one earned run on two hits and a walk while striking out two over 5.1 innings to earn the win in a 2-1 victory over the Rangers on Friday.

Bundy found success at home against the Rangers by leaning heavily on his off-speed offerings and pitching to contact. Only 28 of the 71 pitches he threw were fastballs. Bundy also benefited from errorless defensive support which helped him to notch his seventh win in 21 starts this season despite not having gone six innings in a start since June 24. The 29-year-old right-hander has a 4.60 ERA and 1.23 WHIP this season. Bundy is tentatively expected to make his next start at Houston.

Perez (9-4) gave up two earned runs on five hits and three walks while striking out seven over six innings to take the loss in a 2-1 defeat against the Twins on Friday.

Perez pitched well on the road in Minnesota, racking up seven punchouts despite only garnering five swinging strikes. His five-pitch mix kept batters guessing and taking called third strikes. Despite being saddled with the loss, it was Perez's 17th quality start of the year. The runs he surrendered came on back-to-back solo home runs in the first inning off the bats of Luis Arraez and Jose Miranda. Perez is putting together the best season of his decade-long career and has a 2.8 Fangraphs WAR to go along with an ERA of 2.80. He is tentatively expected to make his next start at Colorado.

Crawford (3-5) allowed nine runs on 11 hits over 3.2 innings Friday, striking out three without walking a batter and taking the loss against Baltimore.

Crawford gave up three runs in each of the second, third and fourth frames, including a trio of home runs. He had been taken deep just three times over his previous six outings. Friday's poor start launched his season ERA to 5.14 through 68.1 frames. Crawford has given up 16 runs through 14.2 innings over his last three appearances. He's expected to start at home against the Blue Jays next week.

Lyles yielded four runs on nine hits over four innings Friday against Boston. He struck out five and did not factor in the decision in a Baltimore win.

For the second straight outing, Lyles was charged with four runs and failed to complete at least five innings. He coughed up a two-run double to Enrique Hernandez in the second inning followed by two more runs in the third. Lyles' ERA climbed to 4.61 alongside a 119:45 K:BB through 25 starts. Since the start of July, the 31-year-old is 5-2 with a 4.08 ERA. Lyles is lined up to face the White Sox at home next week.

Lynn allowed one run on five hits and a walk over 5.2 innings Friday against Cleveland. He struck out six and did not factor into the decision in a Guardians win.

Lynn cruised through five shutout frames before he coughed up a solo shot to Jose Ramirez in the sixth. The 35-year-old righty had completed at least six innings in his previous three starts but he still managed to lower his season ERA to 5.30 with this effort. Lynn gave up 18 home runs through 157 frames last season but he's already been taken deep 14 times through only 71.1 innings in 2022. He's lined up to take the mound in Baltimore next week.

McKenzie (9-9) yielded two runs on six hits over seven innings Friday, striking out 14 and earning a win over the White Sox.

McKenzie was nearly untouchable Friday and set new career highs with 25 swinging strikes and 14 punchouts. After allowing two runs on four hits in the first inning, he retired 18 of the next 20 batters, including 13 via strikeout. The 25-year-old lowered his season ERA to 3.11 with a strong 138:35 K:BB over 141.2 innings. Since the start of July, McKenzie is 5-3 with a 1.91 ERA across nine starts. He'll look to keep the momentum rolling in Seattle next week.

Mahle (shoulder) felt good Friday and went through most of his usual routine between starts, but he's likely to have his scheduled turn through the rotation Tuesday pushed back or skipped, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

The right-hander has been temporarily shut down from throwing after exiting Wednesday's start with general soreness and fatigue in his shoulder, though there doesn't seem to be any major concern regarding the injury. Still, Mahle isn't expected to be ready for his regular turn through the rotation Tuesday, so there's a chance he ends up on the injured list.

Severino (lat) is expected to throw live batting practice Tuesday, Lindsey Adler of The Athletic reports.

Severino threw a 25-pitch bullpen session Monday, marking the first time he's thrown off a mound since July 14. He'll be cleared to face hitters early next week, and he'll likely be in consideration to begin a rehab assignment shortly after. The right-hander isn't eligible to return from the injured list until mid-September, but he appears to be trending in the right direction.
