Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said Monday that Bradish (foot) will make a rehab start with a minor-league affiliate within the next few days, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Bradish threw a 44-pitch bullpen session Saturday without issue and will test out his bruised right foot in a game setting soon. All signs point to him rejoining the Orioles' rotation when first eligible April 19 or shortly after.

The Guardians recalled Battenfield from Triple-A Columbus on Monday, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.

Battenfield was up in the majors briefly last season but didn't make an appearance, so it will be his big-league debut when he gets into a game. The 25-year-old allowed three runs -- two earned -- over five innings in his first start with Columbus in 2023 after posting a 3.63 ERA there across 28 starts in 2022. He could draw some starts while Aaron Civale (oblique) is out or serve in long relief.

The Guardians transferred McKenzie (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Monday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.

McKenzie's move to the 60-day IL isn't necessarily indicative of a setback after he was cleared to resume throwing weighted balls over the weekend, but it does support the notion that the Guardians will proceed carefully with the 25-year-old while he works his way back from a right teres major muscle strain. As a result of the transaction, McKenzie won't be eligible to make his season debut until at least May 29, though he should be ready to return around that date so long as he navigates his throwing program and a multi-start minor-league rehab assignment without issue. The Guardians selected Peyton Battenfield's contract from Triple-A Columbus to fill McKenzie's spot on the 40-man roster.

The Guardians placed Civale on the 15-day injured list Monday with a left oblique strain, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.

It's not clear whether Civale tweaked his oblique during his last start on Friday or during a between-starts bullpen session, but either way he's going to be out of commission for a few weeks. Peyton Battenfield has taken his spot on the roster and could be an option to replace Civale in the rotation. Another option would be for Cleveland to insert long reliever Xzavion Curry into the rotation.

Severino (lat) had his scheduled bullpen session moved from Sunday to Monday, Marly Rivera of ESPN.com reports.

Severino was originally scheduled to throw off the mound Sunday, but the move to Monday doesn't appear to be due to any sort of setback. Manager Aaron Boone indicated that Severino's "workload was pretty big" when he last threw April 6, per MLB.com, which likely explains the decision to push him back a day. If all goes well in his continued recovery from a right lat strain, Severino could make his 2023 debut in late April or early May.

Pallette (elbow) made his professional debut Friday for Single-A Kannapolis, covering two innings and allowing three runs (one earned) on two hits and one walk while striking out three.

The White Sox selected Pallette with the 62nd overall pick in last summer's First-Year Player Draft, but he didn't get the chance to make his debut in 2022 while he recovered from the Tommy John surgery he underwent in January of that year. The hard-throwing right-hander out of Arkansas apparently reported to spring training without any limitations, and after coming out of camp setback-free, he was able to secure a spot in Kannapolis' season-opening rotation. Expect the White Sox to still have an innings cap in place for the 21-year-old in 2023 as he returns from a major arm surgery.

McKenzie (shoulder) was re-evaluated Sunday and has been cleared to start resume throwing weighted balls before beginning a throwing program later this week, Ryan Lewis of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.

McKenzie suffered a right teres major muscle strain in his final spring training start back on March 26, prompting the Guardians to place him on the injured list to begin the season while barring him from activity for two weeks. The rest appears to have done McKenzie some good, as he's now on track to start ramping back up in the coming days. The Guardians aren't putting a timeline on McKenzie's return and likely won't have clarity on a potential target date until he advances further in his throwing program, but given that he'll presumably need multiple rehab starts to get fully stretched out, he presumably won't be ready to make his season debut until around early-to-mid-May in a best-case scenario.

Paxton (hamstring) allowed two hits and two walks while striking out three over three scoreless innings in a rehab start for Triple-A Worcester on Sunday.

Paxton threw 58 pitches (34 strikes) during a start in which he had been scheduled to go four innings. Presumably, missing the zone on 41 percent of his pitches elevated the pitch count and limited him to three frames. The left-hander is expected to get another start or two in the minors, before the Red Sox make a decision. Both Garrett Whitlock (hip) and Brayan Bello (forearm) are expected to return from injury -- Whitlock this week, Bello next week -- which makes for a crowded rotation. Chris Sale and Corey Kluber are locked in. Tanner Houck could move back to the bullpen, which leaves manager Alex Cora with a decision on whether Paxton or Nick Pivetta should have the fifth spot in the rotation.

Kirby did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing one run on five hits over six innings in a 6-7 loss to the Mariners. He struck out four.

Kirby bounced back in his second start, allowing only one run on a Jose Ramirez sacrifice fly in the first inning. The 25-year-old worked through a tough sixth inning but escaped unharmed after striking out the last two batters in the frame. Kirby was on track for the win, but the Guardians would rally to tie the game in the ninth before completing the comeback on a walkoff hit from Josh Bell in the 12th. Kirby owns a 4.34 ERA and 9:1 K:BB over 10.1 innings pitched, and he is tentatively scheduled to return to the mound in the upcoming series with the Cardinals next week.

Perez (1-1) was charged with Saturday's 10-3 loss to the Cubs after allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits while striking out five over five innings.

Perez grinded through five innings while getting little support from a defense that made two errors behind him. The team made three more errors after Perez departed and had nearly as many errors (five) as hits (seven). The lefty's next outing is expected during the weekend series in Houston, either Friday or Saturday.
