Lord (5-8) earned the victory over the Cubs on Saturday, allowing one run on two hits and four walks while striking out seven batters over 5.2 innings.

Lord was crushed in his previous three outings, giving up 18 runs (17 earned) while serving up four homers over 12.2 innings during that span. He was vastly better against a tough opponent Saturday, yielding just a second-inning run and falling one out shy of a quality start. Lord did walk four batters, but he also fanned a season-high seven and racked up 12 whiffs. The right-hander is lined up to make his next start on the road against Miami.

Bednar earned a save against the Blue Jays on Saturday, striking out three batters over 1.1 scoreless innings.

Bednar was called upon in the eighth inning with two outs and a runner on first base. He threw a wild pitch but was able to fan Nathan Lukes to get out of the frame unscathed. The veteran closer then returned for the ninth and retired the side in order to close out the win for New York. This was Bednar's first save since Aug. 16, though he picked up two wins over five games in the interim. Since joining the Yankees at the trade deadline, Bednar has gone 4-for-7 in save opportunities but has posted a solid 2.87 ERA with a 25:6 K:BB across 15.2 frames spanning 13 appearances.

Pomeranz will serve as the Cubs' opening pitcher for Sunday's game against the Nationals, Ryan Herrera of AllCHGO.com reports.

Pomeranz has turned in a 2.45 ERA and 1.14 WHIP over 40.1 innings while pitching primarily in middle relief this season, but the Cubs will deploy him as an opener for the fourth time in 2025. The 36-year-old southpaw has pitched more than one inning just three times this season, so he'll likely hand the game over to Chicago's bullpen after recording the game's first three outs. Colin Rea and Aaron Civale are both available to cover multiple innings in relief once Pomeranz exits the contest.

The Dodgers designated Sauer for assignment Saturday.

Sauer has spent most of the season at Triple-A Oklahoma City, where he owns a 5.86 ERA and 1.54 WHIP through 83 innings. He'll now sacrifice his 40-man spot to make room for Chuckie Robinson's addition to the active roster, though the 26-year-old reliever is likely to clear waivers based on his poor performance.

Van Belle will undergo an MRI on his injured right elbow Saturday night, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

According to Topkin, Van Belle is still experiencing pain and discomfort in his right elbow after throwing 37 pitches in Friday's loss to the Guardians. Van Belle said while he didn't feel a pop in his elbow Friday, he didn't feel comfortable throwing his fastball or sweeper. He's since been placed on the 15-day injured list, and the Rays are calling the injury right elbow inflammation for now.

The Angels placed Zeferjahn on the 15-day injured list Saturday due to right knee tendinitis.

Zeferjahn recorded two outs in Friday's loss to the Athletics but allowed one run on one hit and two walks with one strikeout. With Zeferjahn off to the injured list, the Angels recalled Chase Silseth from Triple-A Salt Late. Zeferjahn owns a 4.77 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 72:33 K:BB across 54.2 innings this season.

Silseth takes the 26-man roster spot of Ryan Zeferjahn, who was placed on the 15-day IL due to right knee tendinitis. Silseth has pitched in three games out of the Angels' bullpen this season, working 2.1 scoreless innings with a 3:4 K:BB.

The Astros recalled VanWey from Triple-A Sugar Land on Saturday, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

VanWey made his MLB debut earlier this season and has appeared in eight games out of the Houston bullpen, registering a 5.59 ERA, 1.86 WHIP and 6:3 K:BB across 9.2 innings.

Santos (knee) is slated to begin a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Tacoma on Saturday, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports.

Santos hasn't pitched with Seattle since April 15 but is aiming for a return to the Mariners at some point this month. The right-hander struggled to a 5.14 ERA and 2.29 WHIP across eight early-season appearances before getting hurt.

The Rays recalled Rock from Triple-A Durham on Saturday, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports.

Rock has appeared in two games out of Tampa Bay's bullpen this season, posting a 3.60 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 9:0 K:BB across five innings of work. The 25-year-old right-hander takes Brian Van Belle's (elbow) spot in the bullpen.
