Holton will serve as the Tigers' opening pitcher during Monday's game against the Padres.

Holton has been an important member of Detroit's bullpen this season, posting a 2.44 ERA and 0.83 WHIP across 77.1 innings. Most of his appearances have lasted more than one inning, and he was able to reach three frames as recently as Aug. 17. Once the 28-year-old lefty exits Monday's contest, Ty Madden is expected to pitch in bulk relief.

The Dodgers recalled Petersen from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Monday, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Petersen will provide the bullpen with a fresh arm. He's allowed six runs over 12 relief innings during his time with the Dodgers this season.

Hamilton (lat) tossed a bullpen session Sunday and will make a rehab appearance with Double-A Somerset on Wednesday, per the Associated Press.

Hamilton was expected to pitch for Somerset on Friday, but he was scratched due to back spasms. The reliever is apparently past the issue given his ability to toss a bullpen Sunday. Wednesday's outing could be Hamilton's final minor-league appearance, and he could be back in New York's bullpen shortly thereafter.

Duran picked up the save in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Blue Jays, striking out a batter in a scoreless ninth inning.

Duran reeled off his second save of the weekend. He began his outing with a strikeout and navigated around a hit batter to pick up his 20th save of the season, his second consecutive campaign with at least 20 saves. Duran has now had to work around a batter on the bases in seven straight appearances but has only allowed an earned run one of those outings. For the year, the 26-year-old has a 3.60 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 50:13 K:BB in 45 innings.

The Nationals activated Law (elbow) from the 15-day injured list Monday, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.

Law has been shelved since mid-August with ulnar nerve irritation in his pitching elbow but recently faced hitters with no issues, clearing the way for his return. The veteran reliever will return to a middle-relief role for the Nationals.

McCaughan allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits and a walk over four-plus innings in a no-decision Sunday against the Giants. He struck out two.

McCaughan gave up two runs through four frames, including a leadoff shot by Mike Yastrzemski. McCaughan was pulled after putting the first two batters on base to begin the fifth inning and was charged with both runs. It was his first MLB appearance since Aug. 8 and third since the start of August. In those three outings, he's posted a 4.00 ERA with a 7:1 K:BB over nine frames. It's unclear if he'll get another turn through the rotation, but McCaughan is tentatively lined up for a home start against the Phillies this weekend.

Green (4-4) took the loss and blew a save Sunday against the Twins, allowing three runs on three hits while striking out a batter over one inning.

Green entered with a 3-1 lead and blew his first save of the season. He retired the first batter he faced before allowing back-to-back singles and then surrendered a three-run homer to Royce Lewis to give the Twins their first lead of the game and eventually the win. Before Sunday's outing, Green was a perfect 16-for-16 in save opportunities, and he had gone five straight outings without giving up a run. The 33-year-old is still putting together one of the best seasons of his career, posting a 2.17 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 40:11 K:BB in 45.2 innings.

Rodriguez (3-4) allowed one earned run on one hit and one walk to take the loss Sunday against the Padres.

Rodriguez entered the game with the score tied at 3-3 in the ninth inning. He allowed the first two batters he faced to reach base, which was enough to allow the Padres to scratch across the game-winning run. Rodriguez has recorded two of the five saves for the Rays since Pete Fairbanks (lat) went down but has also suffered two losses and given up three earned runs across 7.1 innings.

Faucher struck out all three batters he faced to earn a save over San Francisco on Sunday.

Faucher needed just 13 pitches (10 strikes) to roll through the Giants and close out the 7-5 win. He converted both save chances while striking out five in two perfect innings during the weekend series against San Francisco, and he's now tossed four straight scoreless innings. Since taking over the closer role in Miami after the trade deadline, Faucher has converted six of seven save chances while registering a 4.15 ERA and a 19:6 K:BB through 13 frames. On the year, he owns a 3.25 ERA over 52.2 innings.

Gose re-signed with the Guardians on a minor-league contract Saturday.

Gose has now re-signed with the Guardians on two occasions within the past month after electing free agency when he was twice outrighted off Cleveland's 40-man roster. The 34-year-old could get another call-up at some point in September if the Guardians require another lefty in the bullpen, but even in that scenario, he's unlikely to maintain a 40-man roster spot heading into 2025.
