  • Pirates' Aroldis Chapman: Hangs on for eighth save

Chapman earned the save in Tuesday's 6-4 win over the Marlins despite allowing a run on three hits in the ninth inning. He struck out two.

Chapman got into some trouble in the ninth, allowing the Marlins to cut the lead to 6-4 with three singles. However, he'd manage to escape with the lead still intact, earning his eighth save this season. Chapman's converted back-to-back save chance though he's given up at least one run in three straight appearances, allowing six runs over 2.2 innings in that span. The left-hander sports a 4.18 ERA on the season with a 1.45 WHIP and 91:39 K:BB across 56 innings.

  • Orioles' Seranthony Dominguez: Secures 10th save

Dominguez earned the save in Tuesday's 5-3 victory against Boston, pitching a scoreless inning with two strikeouts while allowing one hit.

The Baltimore closer required only 14 pitches to retire the side in the ninth to collect his ninth save with the team since arriving via trade July 26. Dominguez has a been a steady source of strikeouts for a reliever, as he's now posted three consecutive multi-K appearances. The 29-year-old flamethrower has now pitched to a 2.60 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 23:4 K:BB across 17.1 innings with the Orioles.

  • Anthony Banda RP | MIN

Dodgers' Anthony Banda: Placed on injured list

The Dodgers placed Banda on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with a left hand fracture.

Banda will be held out until at least Sept. 25 as a result of his injury, though it's possible he misses more than the minimum amount of time considering the fracture is on his throwing hand. Brusdar Graterol (hamstring) was reinstated from the 15-day IL in a corresponding move.

  • Rockies' Bradley Blalock: Drops third straight

Blalock (1-3) took the loss Tuesday against the Tigers, allowing five runs (four earned) on five hits and five walks over four innings. He struck out four.

Blalock gave up a leadoff homer to Parker Meadows in the first inning before he was tagged for another four runs in the second, with three scoring on a Riley Greene bases-loaded triple. It's the third straight loss for the 23-year-old Blalock -- he's allowed 14 earned runs in just 13 innings in that span and has also issued 11 walks in his last two starts (nine innings). Overall, Blalock sports a 5.87 ERA with a 1.79 WHIP and 20:19 K:BB through his first 29.2 big-league innings. He'll look for a better result in his next outing, currently scheduled for this weekend against the Cubs at home.

  • Dodgers' Brusdar Graterol: Activated from IL

The Dodgers reinstated Graterol (hamstring) from the 15-day injured list Tuesday.

Graterol will return from the injured list a day earlier than originally expected, taking the place of Anthony Banda (hand), who landed on the IL in a corresponding move. The 26-year-old Graterol allowed two earned runs in just one-third of an inning before leaving his season debut with a hamstring strain Aug. 6, so there's a good chance the Dodgers limit him to low-leverage outings until he's able to find his footing in the big leagues.

  • Yimi Garcia RP | TOR

Mariners' Yimi Garcia: Out for season

The Mariners transferred Garcia (elbow) to the 60-day injured list Tuesday.

Garcia was shut down from throwing Tuesday after experiencing a setback during a bullpen session, and his move to the 60-day IL will officially prevent him from pitching again this season. He'll finish the 2024 campaign with a 3.46 ERA and 0.90 WHIP alongside a 49:12 K:BB across 39 innings. Seby Zavala was selected from Triple-A Tacoma to fill the opening on Seattle's 40-man roster.

Mariners' Yimi Garcia: Shut down from throwing

Garcia (elbow) was pulled off his throwing program Tuesday after reporting discomfort following a bullpen session, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Garcia has been on the injured list since Aug. 23 with right elbow inflammation, and his latest setback indicates that he likely isn't close to a return to Seattle's bullpen. The Mariners will evaluate him to determine the severity of the issue, but there is no guarantee that the 34-year-old righty will make it back before the end of the season.

  • Nick Ramirez RP | LAD

Dodgers' Nick Ramirez: Designated for assignment

The Dodgers designated Ramirez for assignment Tuesday.

Just two days after being selected from Triple-A, Ramirez will once again be without a spot on the 40-man as Yoshinobu Yamamoto (triceps/shoulder) returns from the 60-day IL. The 35-year-old allowed three runs (one earned) over two innings during his appearance Monday and carries a 6.08 ERA through 13.1 MLB frames.

  • Phillies' Spencer Turnbull: Facing hitters Friday

Turnbull (lat) will throw a live batting practice session Friday, Destiny Lugardo of Phillies Nation reports.

Turnbull threw an up-and-down bullpen session Monday, clearing the way for him to face hitters for the first time since he was diagnosed with a right lat strain in late June. The Phillies aren't giving up hope that Turnbull could make it back later this month as a reliever, but he can't afford any hiccups.

  • Angels' Guillermo Zuniga: Back in majors

The Angels recalled Zuniga from Triple-A Salt Lake on Tuesday.

The right-hander has had a couple short stints up with the Halos this season, and he'll rejoin the big club Tuesday after spending the past two-plus months at Triple-A. Zuniga has allowed five earned runs in seven frames in the majors this year and has a 5.19 ERA over 26 innings with Salt Lake.
