Brandyn Garcia RP | ARI
Diamondbacks' Brandyn Garcia: Secures third save
Garcia earned the save in Friday's 4-1 win over the Guardians, striking out one in a perfect ninth inning.
Garcia was summoned to protect a three-run lead after a late surge by the Diamondbacks, and he closed the door on just seven pitches. With the club recently removing Paul Sewald from the closer role, the 26-year-old Garcia has converted consecutive save chances. He owns a 2.10 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 36:7 K:BB to go along with 13 holds and three saves across 30 innings this season and appears to be the favorite for ninth-inning duties so long as he continues to pitch well.

Chayce McDermott RP | NYM
Dodgers' Chayce McDermott: Booted from 40-man
The Dodgers designated McDermott for assignment Friday.
McDermott will end up as the roster casualty necessary to free up a 40-man spot for Cole Irvin, who was selected to the big-league roster Friday. McDermott has spent the vast majority of the 2026 campaign in the minors, posting a 4.55 ERA and 1.55 WHIP in 31.2 innings between the Dodgers' and Orioles' Triple-A affiliates.

Cole Irvin RP | LAD
Dodgers' Cole Irvin: Joins big-league bullpen
The Dodgers selected Irvin's contract from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday, Jack Harris of the California Post reports.
With Brock Stewart (shoulder) headed for the injured list, Irvin will come up from the minors to fill the void in the Dodgers' pitching staff. The 32-year-old lefty hasn't appeared in an MLB game since 2024, but he owns a 3.49 ERA and 1.55 WHIP through 98 innings at Oklahoma City. He's worked exclusively as a starter in the minors this year but is likely to take on a long-relief role with the big club.

Brock Stewart RP | LAD
Dodgers' Brock Stewart: Placed on injured list
The Dodgers placed Stewart on the 15-day injured list Friday with a shoulder injury, Jack Harris of the California Post reports.
Manager Dave Roberts said that he believes Stewart's absence will be short term, though the right-hander will receive an MRI on Saturday to confirm he isn't dealing with a serious issue. Cole Irvin will come up from Triple-A Oklahoma City to fill the opening in Los Angeles' bullpen.

Justin Martinez RP | ARI
Diamondbacks' Justin Martinez: Nearing rehab assignment
Martinez (elbow) is expected to begin a rehab assignment at Single-A Visalia next week, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.
Martinez has been on the injured list all season while working his way back from Tommy John surgery. He's been cleared to face hitters for the past two weeks, and he's scheduled to pitch in a simulated game at the team's spring training complex this weekend before joining one of Arizona's minor-league affiliates. The 25-year-old righty will likely require an extended rehab assignment after spending more than a year on the shelf, but he could still make it back to the D-backs' bullpen before the end of August.

Thomas Pannone SP | MIL
Brewers' Thomas Pannone: Designated for assignment
The Brewers designated Pannone for assignment Friday, Hunter Baumgardt of Fox Sports 920 Milwaukee reports.
Pannone was called up to make a spot start for the Brewers on Wednesday, during which he gave up three runs (two earned) across three innings. Now that his services are no longer required by the big club, he'll lose his place on the active and 40-man rosters to make room for DL Hall (pectoral), who returned from the injured list Friday.
-
DL Hall RP | MIL
Brewers' DL Hall: Rejoins bullpen
The Brewers reinstated Hall (pectoral) from the injured list Friday, Hunter Baumgardt of Fox Sports 920 Milwaukee reports.
Hall has been on the shelf since early June due to a left pec strain, but he has been pitching in rehab games since July 19. Across four appearances in the minors, he gave up two earned runs on three hits and three walks while punching out nine batters in 5.2 innings. He'll replace Thomas Pannone on the Brewers' pitching staff and will presumably work as a middle reliever.

Antwone Kelly RP | PIT
Pirates' Antwone Kelly: Recalled from Triple-A
The Pirates recalled Kelly from Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday, Jason Mackey of MLB.com reports.
Kelly has made a pair of relief appearances for the Pirates this season, giving up five runs with a 1:2 K:BB over 4.1 frames. The right-hander threw five shutout innings in his last relief outing at Indianapolis last Saturday, so he's prepared to provide length out of the Pittsburgh bullpen, if needed.
-
Brian Keller RP | PHI
Phillies' Brian Keller: Sent to Lehigh Valley
The Phillies optioned Keller to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Friday.
After making just one appearance with the Phillies on June 25, Keller will re-join the Triple-A club. The 32-year-old allowed just one run on two hits while striking out three in three innings during his lone appearance. Philadelphia elevated Andrew Painter from Lehigh Valley to replace Keller on the 26-man roster.
-
Hunter Barco RP | PIT
Pirates' Hunter Barco: Sent back to Indianapolis
The Pirates optioned Barco to Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday, Jason Mackey of MLB.com reports.
Barco gave up two runs on five hits and three walks in three innings as a bulk reliever Thursday versus the Reds. He was not going to be available to pitch for at least a day or two, so the Pirates will replace him in the bullpen with a fresh arm.
