Drew Smith RP | WAS
Mets' Drew Smith: Headed for surgery
Smith will undergo surgery to repair a tear in his right UCL on Friday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
Smith sought a second opinion and ultimately won't be able to avoid going under the knife after being diagnosed with a significant tear in his right UCL. However, it remains to be determined if he'll require Tommy John surgery or an internal brace procedure, which would likely result in a quicker recovery. Smith is scheduled to meet with Dr. Keith Meister on Thursday to determine a plan of attack for the procedure.

Ingram was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on Monday, per MLB's transaction log.
Ingram was brought up to the big leagues Saturday but failed to make an appearance before being sent back down. The Diamondbacks optioned Jacques to Triple-A Reno on Monday.
Jacques will return to Reno to make room on the 26-man roster for Yilber Diaz, who is making his major-league debut Monday against Atlanta. Jacques was called up by Arizona on July 4 and his only outing since then came one day later against the Padres, when he gave up two runs on three hits and one walk over 1.1 innings. In 15 games with Reno this season, Jacques has a 4.58 ERA and 1.51 WHIP across 17.2 frames.

Braves' Dylan Lee: Sent to Triple-A
Atlanta optioned Lee to Triple-A Gwinnett on Monday.

Reds' Yosver Zulueta: Summoned to big leagues
The Reds recalled Zulueta from Triple-A Louisville on Monday.

JT Chargois RP | TEX
Marlins' JT Chargois: Nabs first win of season
Chargois (1-0) picked up the win Sunday over the White Sox, giving up a hit in a scoreless ninth inning.
The right-hander was called in with the Marlins down 4-3 in the top of the ninth, and Chargois got rewarded for his efforts when Jake Burger walked it off with a three-run homer in the bottom of the frame. Chargois has been very effective since making his season debut in mid-June, posting a 1.69 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 9:4 K:BB through 10.2 innings, and he could be working his way into the high-leverage mix for the Marlins.

Alex Young RP | CIN
Giants' Alex Young: Dealt to San Francisco
The Giants acquired Young from the Reds on Sunday in exchange for outfielder Austin Slater and cash considerations, Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports.
Young will return to the Giants organization after the team released him in November 2022. The left-hander appeared in three contests with the Reds earlier this season, tossing two scoreless innings while striking out two batters. Young has been lights out with Triple-A Louisville, producing a 1.19 ERA and 0.86 WHIP with 22 punchouts over 22.2 innings in 23 appearances. He'll report to Triple-A Sacramento for the time being but may not have to wait long for a call-up to San Francisco.

Sean Hjelle RP | SF
Giants' Sean Hjelle: Tagged for third loss
Hjelle (3-3) allowed three runs on four hits while striking out one and walking none over one inning, taking the loss Sunday versus the Guardians.
Hjelle has given up multiple runs in three of his last seven outings, taking two of his three losses this season in that span. The right-hander is now at a 3.83 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 46:6 K:BB through 44.2 innings while adding three holds. He sees very little high-leverage work as a multi-inning reliever, but his recent performance has offset his reliable control, as his groundball tendencies have led to too many hitters getting on base.

Darren McCaughan RP | CIN
Marlins' Darren McCaughan: Returning to Miami
The Marlins claimed McCaughan off waivers Sunday and optioned him to Triple-A Jacksonville.
The 28-year-old signed with the Marlins in March but was traded to the Guardians in May, only to end up back in Miami after being designated for assignment by Cleveland. McCaughan has given up 14 earned runs in his three big-league outings between the two clubs this year, and he has a 5.50 ERA over 54 innings at the Triple-A level this year.

Drew Smith RP | WAS
Mets' Drew Smith: Shifts to 60-day IL
The Mets transferred Smith (elbow) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Sunday.
The right-hander was diagnosed with a significant UCL tear in late June, so it's not a surprise he's been moved to the 60-day IL. Smith appears headed for Tommy John surgery but was expected to seek a second medical opinion before deciding his next steps.
