Braves starting pitcher Shelby Miller went 5 2/3 innings on Thursday, but picked up his third loss of the season.

Miller allowed seven hits and just one earned run. He struck out four batters and gave up one walk.

Miller dropped to 5-3 on the season after picking up the loss. He has a 1.99 ERA with 65 strikeouts in 90 1/3 innings this year.

Padres closer Craig Kimbrel earned his 17th save of the season in Thursday afternoon's 3-1 victory over the Athletics. 

Kimbrel allowed one hit but struck out two batters. He got out of the inning without allowing a run. He now has an ERA of 3.67 for the season. 

The Phillies recalled reliever Jake Diekman from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Thursday. To clear a roster spot, reliever Dustin McGowan was designated for assignment.

Pirates closer Mark Melancon picked up his 22nd save of the season in Wednesday night's 3-2 win over the White Sox. 

Melancon entered the game in the ninth inning and had a 1-2-3 outing. Melancon recorded one strikeout. Melancon has now recorded 12 saves in his last 13 appearances. His ERA for the season is now 1.93. 

The Phillies called up right-handed pitcher Hector Neris from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Wednesday, the team announced via Twitter.

Neris has a 3.60 ERA with 30 strikeouts in 30 innings for Lehigh Valley this season. He appeared for the Phillies briefly earlier this season, pitching 2 2/3 innings and striking out two batters.

Reds starting pitcher Raisel Iglesias began his rehab process from an oblique injury on Wednesday as he took the field and participated in light throws, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Iglesias, who is on the 15-day disabled list, has a 5.11 ERA in 24 2/3 innings this season.

Pirates pitcher Mark Melancon tossed a perfect ninth inning to record his 21st save of season during Tuesday's 3-0 win over the White Sox.

Melancon is now 21 for 22 in save chances this season with a 1.62 ERA.

Reds closer Aroldis Chapman converted his fifth save opportunity in a row, closing out Tuesday's win over Detroit. 

Chapman pitched a scoreless ninth to earn his 14th save. He allowed one hit and struck out three batters to protect a three-run lead. He threw 13 strikes in 17 pitches. 

Padres closer Craig Kimbrel picked up his second loss of the season following his appearance in Tuesday's 6-5 loss to the Athletics 

Kimbrel entered with the game tied at 5-5 in the ninth inning. After walking two batters and recording one out, Kimbrel gave up an RBI single to Eric Sogard. This proved to be the game-winner for the Athletics. 

Kimbrel now has an ERA of 3.81 for the season. 

Rockies left-hander Chris Rusin struggled for the second consecutive start in Tuesday's loss to the Astros. Rusin, who gave up six earned runs his last time out, lasted four innings on Tuesday. He surrendered seven runs on nine hits, while walking two and striking out four. He needed 92 pitches to get through the four innings.

Rusin got beat up by Luis Valbuena, who touched him up for a solo home run in the second inning and a a three-run shot in the third inning. 

Rusin (2-2, 5.14 ERA) will look to turn things around in his next start, scheduled for Sunday at home against the Brewers.
