Miller did not get a decision, allowing two runs on two hits and three walks while striking out one over 1.2 innings, and left the game with a lacerated right index finger Saturday at the Padres.

With Miller giving up a pair of early runs, he needed the offense to pick him up, which they later did, to take him off the hook for a potential loss. He's gotten off to a terrible start, as he's allowed 12 runs and 23 baserunners in 12.2 innings of work. As long as his finger checks out well, he'll make his next start Thursday at the Giants.

Miller was pulled from Saturday's game against the Padres because of a finger injury.

Miller appeared to have scraped two of his knuckles on the mound while following through with one of his pitches and was eventually pulled from the game. He wasn't able to make it through the second inning and will finish the night giving up two runs, with three walks and a strikeout. We should know more regarding the injury as Miller's next projected start approaches.

Hoover recorded his first save of the season Saturday against the Cardinals despite allowing a two-run homer by Brandon Moss.

Hoover subsequently allowed another baserunner before finally getting out of the inning. His ERA now sits at 17.18. About the best thing he has going for him in terms of job security is the lack of a better alternative presented by the remainder of the Reds bullpen.

Fleck starts the season with Triple-A Reno, where he went 4-1 with a 3.46 ERA in 2015. The 27-year-old took advantage of his spring training invitation, pitching 4.2 shutout innings, while only allowing three hits and striking out nine batters. Throughout his minor league career, Fleck has provided a great K:BB ratio, displayed by his 66:24 mark last season. If he can continue to pitch to his abilities, Fleck might get his first chance to perform at the major league level later on this season.

Boscan pitched six scoreless innings Thursday, allowing five hits and striking out three for Triple-A Indianapolis.

Boscan earned the win in his first start of the season for Indy. He also spent all of last season with the team, posting a 10-3 record with a 3.07 ERA in 126 innings. Boscan followed up that impressive season with a disappointing performance in spring training, allowing 13 earned runs and 17 hits in just six innings. If he can keep up his good work against his opponents in the minors, he could get another chance this season to show the Pirates that he deserves a bigger role with the team.

Vizcaino notched his first save of the season in Friday's 6-3 victory over the Marlins, surrendering two hits and two walks over 1.1 innings. He also struck out two.

The Braves closer played a pivotal role in staving off a late Marlins would-be rally, striking out Marcell Ozuna with the bases loaded in the eighth. Vizcaino then worked himself into some trouble in the ninth before retiring J.T. Realmuto on a groundout with two on to end the game. The 25-year-old did labor a bit, throwing 35 pitches over his time on the mound. However, he's been solid overall, allowing just three hits and zero runs over his five appearances this season.

Cordero is rehabbing a shoulder injury that will keep him sidelined into May or early June, Matt Breen of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Cordero has been unable to stay healthy this year, as he also missed time this spring with a biceps injury.

Nelson allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits and four walks while striking out just one batter over six innings of an 8-4 win against Pittsburgh on Friday night.

It turned out to be a "bend but don't break" outing for Nelson (2-1, 2.79 ERA) who, despite allowing too many baserunners, made just one critical mistake - a pinch hit three-run home run off the bat of Matt Joyce. Luckily, his mates had staked him to a comfortable lead. Nelson is still maturing, so overcoming diversity has to be considered a good sign. He'll take on the Twins at home next time out.

Ellington pitched a scoreless eighth inning, allowing a walk and striking out a batter in Triple-A New Orleans 4-2 victory over Iowa on Tuesday.

Ellington gave up four earned runs on four hits and seven walks in five innings of work this spring. The right hander began 2015 by splitting time between Double-A Jacksonville and Triple-A New Orleans and compiled a 2.44 ERA over 44.1 innings. He was then promoted to the majors in early August and produced a 2.88 ERA and 1.20 WHIP in 25 innings. Given his steady progression through the Marlins farm system and his experience gained last year in the majors, he'll likely get another opportunity with the The Fish in 2016.
