Kontos (elbow) is scheduled to pitch with Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday, Alex Pavlovic of CSN Bay Area reports.

It was unclear whether Kontos would head straight to the Giants or pitch in a rehab assignment, but it appears that the Giants have decided to go with the latter. The right-hander said that his elbow feels great, and although the Giants want him to make another rehab appearance afterward, he seems to be very close to returning to the San Francisco bullpen.

Edgin (elbow) could remain in the minors when his rehab assignment concludes Sunday, Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports.

Unfortunately for Edgin, manager Terry Collins stated that the left-hander won'tt return to New York until he has pitched on consecutive days, which he hasn't been able to do yet. Collins also said that there's not really a vacancy in the Mets bullpen, meaning that Edgin could be locked a bit longer in Triple-A until he's absolutely needed. Between all of this and the fact that his fastball is only sitting around 88 miles per hour, it'll be tough for Edgin to crack the Mets bullpen in the near future.

Treinen struck out two and walked one in a scoreless ninth inning against the Royals on Wednesday.

It wasn't exactly a high-leverage situation, as the Nats were up 13-2 at the time, but the outing still dropped Treinen's ERA to 3.27. He also has five holds to go along with a 1.27 WHIP and 12:6 K:BB in 11 innings, but Dusty Baker seems to be using him more as a short-relief jack-of-all-trades than a consistent setup man, so Treinen may not be able to keep up that pace in holds even if he continues pitching well.

Neris earned his seventh hold of the season with a scoreless inning in Wednesday's loss to the Cardinals.

Neris set up closer Jeanmar Gomez, who blew his first save of the season. Gomez will be given a chance to rebound because he has been effective to this point, but Neris is waiting in the wings for his shot to close. He has a 1.04 ERA and a 27:4 K:BB in 17.1 innings thanks to his nearly unhittable splitter.

Gomez (2-1) melted down in the ninth inning Wednesday against St. Louis, giving up three hits, two walks and two runs en route to a blown save and his first loss of the year.

Considering Gomez came into this game 9-for-9 in save chances with a 1.69 ERA, the Phillies will surely cut him some slack for one bad outing, but it's worth noting that we're talking about a guy who's had a career-long tendency to put too many men on base -- not a good attribute for a closer. Meanwhile, Hector Neris pitched a perfect eighth inning and has a 0.63 WHIP that's exactly half of Gomez's. Considering his lack of a closing track record, the leash can't be all that long for the 28-year-old Venezuelan, so his owners should look into scooping up Neris on a speculative basis.

De La Rosa (3-4) gave up four runs on eight hits and two walks over 5.2 innings Wednesday against Miami.

After two outstanding starts in a row at home, De La Rosa took his show on the road and it didn't work out very well. Of course, that's been the story of his career -- we've seen him go out there and look like he's putting it all together, but that's always followed by disappointing steps backward. Still, he does own a 32:10 K:BB in 29.1 innings, and that strikeout upside makes De La Rosa an ever-enticing gamble.

Barraclough tossed a scoreless inning in Tuesday's win over the Diamondbacks and maintains a pristine 0.00 ERA through 10 appearance (8.2 innings pitched) this season.

Barraclough failed to earn a spot in the Marlins' bullpen out of Spring Training but the right-hander has been lights out since his mid-April promotion. Barraclough has a strong 14:2 strikeout-to-walk ratio on the year while yielding .188 opponent batting average. He's compiled five holds on the young season and will continue to be tested in high-leverage situations so long as he continues to excel.

De La Rosa has gone away from his cutter and started using his slider more in his last two starts, Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports.

In those last two outings, De La Rosa has pitched 13 innings and given up just one run on five hits while striking out 16. Catcher Chris Herrmann said he noticed that De La Rosa's cutter and slider looked similar, so he advised the righty to drop one of them. De La Rosa has shown flashes of brilliance before, but sustaining it has been the challenge. His next start comes Wednesday against the Marlins.

Jansen picked up a one-out save, his league-leading 10th of the season, Tuesday against the Rays.

He is now 10-for-10 in save chances and has allowed just one run in 11 innings this season. Jansen is about as dominant of a closer as there is in MLB right now.

Miller is not in danger of having his next start skipped or being removed from the rotation, Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports.

The Diamondbacks paid a hefty price in the offseason to acquire Miller, sending 2015 No. 1 pick Dansby Swanson to the Braves, along with outfielder Ender Inciarte and pitching prospect Aaron Blair. But Miller has struggled mightily through six starts, posting a 8.49 ERA with 19 walks in 23.1 innings. Diamondbacks manager Chip Hale said he thinks Miller might be putting pressure on himself to live up to expectations after the trade, but added there's been no thought of removing the righty from the rotation. His next start is scheduled for Saturday against the Braves.
