Melancon gave up a hit and struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning Sunday to pick up the save in Game 2 of the NLDS against the Dodgers.

It was Melancon's first career postseason save, as he and the rest of the Nationals' bullpen combined for 4.2 shutout innings in a 5-2 win. After a strong finish to the regular season in a Washington uniform, there's no reason to suspect Melancon will wilt under the playoff spotlight.

Murray was outrighted to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Friday.

Murray found success as a minor league reliever, but he could never translate it to the big leagues, forcing the Phillies to leave him off the 40-man roster heading into 2017. Murray is only 26 years old, so he could move up in the ranks if he posts another good season in the minors, although he'll just act as pitching depth for now.

Gsellman will look into having surgery this offseason on the partially torn labrum in his non-pitching shoulder, ESPN's Adam Rubin reports.

He was unable to swing a bat while at the big league level and for part of his time with Triple-A Las Vegas, so it's an issue he will be addressing this offseason. However, this shouldn't affect his status for spring training. Gsellman's excellent performance with the big league club this year would seem to have earned him a spot in the 2017 rotation, and while he should regress at least slightly, the Mets may have yet another excellent young starting pitcher in tow.

Reyes has earned a spot in the Cardinals rotation heading into 2017, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch's Ben Frederickson reports.

This would have been widely assumed, given how Reyes pitched with the big league club this year, and general manager John Mozeliak essentially confirmed the notion Wednesday. Reyes logged 46 innings in the big leagues this year, so he will maintain his prospect status heading into 2017, holding a legitimate claim as the top pitching prospect in baseball. He posted a 2.20 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 29:13 K:BB in 28.2 innings as a starter, showcasing his bat-missing ability and also the need for him to improve his control going forward.

Kay underwent Tommy John surgery Tuesday and will miss the entire 2017 season, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

It seems that the initial speculations regarding Kay's elbow were spot-on, as the supplemental-round draft pick did in fact have some damage to the ulnar collateral ligament in his elbow. It's a shame that the Mets will lose the left-hander for an entire season a mere four months after drafting him, but if all goes well in his rehab process, Kay should have plenty of time to prepare for the 2018 season.

Iglesias gave up four runs Sunday against the Cubs to blow the save and get the loss in the season finale. He gave up three hits, including a two-run homer by Miguel Montero - the 258th homer allowed by the Reds this year, establishing a new record for a team in one season.

Iglesias was pitching on back-to-back days for just the second time this season. Even with the bad outing, Iglesias finished with a 2.53 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 83:26 K:BB ratio. His role in 2017 will be one of the bigger issues for the Reds to address this offseason - will he revert back to the rotation, or stick as a late-inning reliever?

Stephenson left Sunday's start after allowing two runs over four innings, giving up four hits and five walks, striking out four.

In eight big league starts, Stephenson finished with a 6.08 ERA and 1.62 WHIP over 37 innings. He really struggled with his command and pitch selection, which led to 19 walks over 37 innings, and nine homers allowed. Many of those homers came after he fell behind, failing to locate his fastball. It's not a sure thing that he'll begin 2017 in the majors.

He fell four saves shy of matching last year's career high, but Melancon still enjoyed a tremendous regular season split between Washington and Pittsburgh, posting a 1.64 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 65:12 K:BB in 71.1 innings. The Nats will look for him to anchor their bullpen as they attempt to make the first deep playoff run in franchise history.

Moore (13-12) allowed one run on three hits and two walks while striking out six over eight innings Sunday in a wild card-clinching win over the Dodgers.

The left-hander heads into the postseason with some momentum, giving up only two runs with a 17:2 K:BB over his final two regular season starts, and he finishes the regular season with a 4.08 ERA and 178:72 K:BB in 198.1 innings split between San Francisco and Tampa Bay. If the Giants can get by the Mets in the Wild Card Game, Moore should play a prominent role in their rotation plans for the NLDS.

Suter allowed four runs on 10 hits across five innings in Sunday's start against the Rockies. He struck out three and suffered his second loss of the season.

Making just his second start of the season, Suter allowed a two-run homer to Nolan Arenado in the first inning before yielding one run in both the second and third. He threw 65 percent of his pitches for strikes, but was only able to last 86 pitches and drew little run support from the offense. Suter will finish the season with a 3.32 ERA and seems unlikely to be part of the club's plans for its big league rotation in 2017.
