Reyes (pectoral) remains without a timetable to resume a throwing program, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports. "He's been evaluated a couple of different times, he's had a couple of different opinions," manager Mike Shildt said Sunday. "No one has seen anything different, necessarily. But Alex is not in a throwing mode. He's in a rehabilitation mode to get back to throwing."

Reyes last picked up a baseball Aug. 5, when he felt pain in his recovering pectoral area during a bullpen session. He was subsequently evaluated by the team's medical staff and encouraged to seek a second opinion after the exam failed to reveal any new injury. While there haven't been any granular details on the status of that follow-up evaluation, Shildt did confirm Sunday that Reyes is currently rehabbing at a team facility that is neither in Memphis or at Cardinals camp in Jupiter, Florida.

Kimbrel pitched two-thirds of an inning in a non-save situation against Pittsburgh on Sunday, allowing a solo home run and hitting one batter while striking out two.

Making his first appearance since landing on the injured list Aug. 5 with right knee inflammation, Kimbrel came on in the ninth inning and immediately served up a solo blast to Starling Marte. He then hit Cole Tucker with a pitch before whiffing the next two batters. The outing was a microcosm of Kimbrel's season thus far, as he has converted nine of 11 save chances and racked up 19 strikeouts in 13.1 innings while posting a 6.08 ERA and giving up five home runs.

Yates struck out the side during the ninth to record a save in a 3-2 victory against the Phillies on Sunday.

The 32-year-old has two blown saves during the second half, but he's only allowed one earned run in 11 innings since the All-Star break. That's dropped his ERA a smidge to 1.10. He also has 35 saves with three blown opportunities, a 0.82 WHIP and 81 strikeouts in 50 innings this season.

Lambert allowed three runs on six hits and a walk over six innings Sunday, striking out two batters in the no-decision during the win over Miami.

Though he achieved a quality start that lowered his season ERA to 6.55 in 66 innings, Lambert again wasn't dominant; he's struck out just four batters in his last three starts. Lambert will face the Cardinals on the road Friday.

Yamamoto allowed two runs on a walk and four hits over 5.2 innings Sunday, striking out nine batters in the loss to the Rockies. He did not factor in the decision.

The 23-year-old rookie set a new career high with the nine punchouts. The two runs he allowed came in the form of solo shots by Nolan Arenado and Charlie Blackmon. Yamamoto lowered his ERA to 4.31 with a solid 66:26 K:BB over 64.2 frames. He'll face the Phillies at home Saturday.

Stanek allowed two runs (one earned) on a hit and a walk Sunday, striking out two and blowing the save opportunity in the loss to Colorado.

Stanek had a 3.40 ERA with the Rays before being traded to Miami; since then, he's coughed up six runs (five earned) in 4.2 innings. Sunday was the first save chance he's gotten this season, and he didn't exactly warrant more looks in the near future.

Melancon struck out one through a hitless and scoreless inning to record his fourth save in a 5-3 win over the Dodgers on Sunday.

Melancon made quick work of the Dodgers to nail down his fourth save, his second of the series, and he now has a save in three of his last five appearances. The Atlanta closer situation is still a committee, but Shane Greene pitched in the eighth inning of this contest, so it will be interesting to watch how they are used going forward.

The Cubs optioned Underwood to Triple-A Iowa on Sunday.

He was sent out to the farm to clear a spot on the active roster for closer Craig Kimbrel (knee), who was reinstated from the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move. Underwood gave up one run and struck out seven over 3.1 innings across three appearances during his stint with Chicago, his first during the 2019 campaign.

The Cubs reinstated Kimbrel (knee) from the 10-day injured list ahead of Sunday's game against the Pirates.

Sidelined since Aug. 3 with right knee inflammation, Kimbrel ended up missing just two weeks and was cleared to return from the IL without requiring a minor-league rehab assignment beforehand. The Cubs are expected to immediately reinstall him as the team's closer after taking a committee approach to save situations while he was sidelined.

Beede will stick in the rotation for Tuesday's start against the Cubs, Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Manager Bruce Bochy said, "it's our job to get him over the hump." Beede has surrendered 22 earned runs in 23.1 innings over his last five starts. Shaun Anderson (blister) could bump Beede from the rotation if the righty's struggles continue.
