Vesia was charged with a blown save Thursday versus Arizona, as he allowed an inherited runner to score while giving up one hit over two-thirds of an inning.
Vesia has been very reliable this season, and he was called upon in the eighth inning with the Dodgers up a run with one out and runners on first and second. The lefty was able to retire the first batter he faced before Geraldo Perdomo stroked a single to center field to tie the game up. It was the first blown save of the season for Vesia, though he still managed to extend his streak of scoreless outings to 10 since the run wasn't charged to him. With Edwin Diaz sidelined due to an elbow injury, Tanner Scott has taken over as Los Angeles' top closer, but Vesia is tied for the team lead with eight holds and has notched two saves while posting a 2.14 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 28:10 K:BB over 21 innings spanning 27 appearances.

Vesia struck out all three batters he faced in the ninth inning against the Mets on Tuesday to earn a save.
With the Dodgers up one run heading into the ninth inning, it was Vesia -- rather than Edwin Diaz -- who was summoned to close out the game. Vesia more than lived up to the role, needing just 10 pitches to strike out all three batters he faced. It was the lefty's second save of the campaign, with his other coming in an appearance during which he faced only one batter. Vesia clearly has manager Dave Roberts' trust in high-leverage situations and has yet to give up a run through 7.1 frames spanning eight outings this season. With that said, Diaz is likely to get the vast majority of the Dodgers' save chances over the course of the campaign. Per Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register, Diaz was unavailable Tuesday after throwing a bullpen session during the afternoon.
Vesia struck out the only batter he faced to earn a save Saturday against the Rangers.
The Dodgers took a three-run lead into the ninth inning and turned to Blake Treinen to close things out. Treinen got two outs but also allowed two baserunners on a walk and an error, and Vesia was brought in to face lefty Evan Carter, who was then swapped out for pinch hitter Danny Jansen. Vesia got the job done, fanning Jansen on six pitches to end the contest. The save was Vesia's first of the season after he recorded five saves each of the past two regular seasons. He's one of Los Angeles' top setup men but probably won't see many more save chances since Edwin Diaz, who was unavailable Saturday (per Jack Harris of the California Post) after throwing 23 pitches Friday, is locked into the closer role.

The Dodgers exercised Vesia's (personal) $3.55 milion club option for 2026 on Thursday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
With a 3.02 ERA and 0.99 WHIP across 59.2 regular-season innings, Vesia played a crucial part in stabilizing a Dodgers bullpen that often struggled in 2025. He also gave up two earned runs over 4.2 innings in the postseason, but personal matters prevented him from pitching during the World Series. The left-hander is expected to take on a high-leverage role again in 2026.
Vesia (personal) is not on the Dodgers' World Series roster.
Vesia is away from the club while tending to a personal family matter. Per Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times, Vesia will not be placed on the family medical emergency list, which means he's ineligible to added to the Dodgers' World Series roster at a later date.

The Dodgers announced Thursday that Vesia is away from the team for personal reasons.
The Dodgers have yet to finalize their roster for the World Series, and it's unclear whether Vesia's situation will prevent him from pitching in the Fall Classic against the Blue Jays. The 29-year-old southpaw has allowed two earned runs and struck out four batters across 4.2 innings during Los Angeles' postseason run.

Vesia and Tanner Scott were the only relievers the Dodgers used Wednesday, but Vesia's workload was lighter in that appearance. That put him in position to get a save opportunity Thursday, and the southpaw delivered a sharp outing to convert it. Since returning from an oblique injury Sept. 9, Vesia has allowed one run over 4.2 innings, adding two holds and a 7:1 K:BB in that span. He's at a 2.68 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 76:19 K:BB through 57 innings this season. Vesia (3-2) allowed an inherited runner to score but didn't give up a hit or a walk while striking out one over 1.2 scoreless innings, taking a blown save and earning the win over the Padres on Sunday.
A Jose Iglesias groundout generated the game-tying run, charged to Alexis Diaz, after Vesia entered the game in the eighth inning. The Dodgers retook the lead in their half of the inning, and Vesia remained in the game for a clean ninth to collect the win. He's blown a save in three of his last five appearances, allowing five runs (four earned) with a 4:5 K:BB in that span. Vesia's shaky pitching has likely cost him a larger share of closing duties, though the Dodgers continue to take a committee approach while Tanner Scott (elbow), Kirby Yates (back) and Michael Kopech (knee) work their way back to health. Vesia has collected four saves, four blown saves and 21 holds this season while posting a 2.81 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 67:18 K:BB over 51.1 innings.
