Beede (3-9) gave up three runs on five hits and one walk while striking out two through four innings to take the loss against the Cardinals on Monday.

Beede started slow out of the gate, allowing three hits, a walk and two runs in the first inning and settled down afterwards, but he was still only able to make it through four innings. Beede continues to struggle, only pitching six innings in one start since July 19. The right-hander has a 5.61 ERA and 91 strikeouts through 18 starts this season. Beede is scheduled to make his next start Saturday at Dodger Stadium.

Castillo (finger) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Monday.

Castillo has already been ruled out for the remainder of the season with a torn tendon in his left middle finger. This move frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for Ronald Bolanos, who was summoned from Double-A Amarillo on Monday.

Bolanos' contract was selected by the Padres on Monday.

Bolanos will join the Padres straight from Double-A Amarillo. In 23 starts and two relief appearances split between Amarillo and High-A Lake Elsinore, he owns a solid 3.66 ERA and a 26.1 percent strikeout rate.

The Brewers acquired Feyereisen from the Yankees on Sunday in exchange for minor-league infielder Brenny Escanio and international signing bonus pool money.

The 26-year-old Feyereisen was a weapon out of the Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre bullpen this season, posting a 2.49 ERA and 94:31 K:BB in 61.1 innings while holding opposing batters to a .173 average. He could be a candidate to join the big club as a September callup if the Brewers are eager to bolster their bullpen.

The Cubs recalled Alzolay from Triple-A Iowa ahead of Monday's game against the Mariners, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.

According to Bruce Levine of 670TheScore.com, the Cubs intend to use Alzolay as a long man out of the bullpen in September, as the team doesn't have an opening in the rotation with Yu Darvish (forearm) on track to make his next start Saturday in Milwaukee. Alzolay missed some time at the tail end of July due to a biceps issue, but he looked sharp during his six appearances with Iowa in August, posting a 3.32 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 31:11 K:BB across 21.2 innings.

Sborz was recalled by the Dodgers on Monday.

Sborz has thrown 50 innings for Triple-A Oklahoma City this season, recording an unimpressive 4.68 ERA. He's thrown three innings for the Dodgers, allowing six earned runs while striking out just a single batter.

The Giants recalled Suarez from Triple-A Sacramento ahead of Monday's series opener against the Cardinals.

Suarez previously made two starts with the big club earlier this season and 29 in 2018, but he's expected to fill a long-relief role in September with youngsters Tyler Beede, Logan Webb and Dereck Rodriguez currently occupying the final three spots in the rotation and Johnny Cueto (elbow) expected back from the injured list next weekend. Even against lower-caliber competition in the Pacific Coast League this season, Suarez failed to find much success, submitting a 5.73 ERA and 1.64 WHIP in 88 innings.

The Giants selected Barraclough's contract from Triple-A Sacramento on Monday.

With 11 saves and 75 holds to his name over parts of five big-league seasons, Barraclough brings ample experience to the San Francisco bullpen, but the ugly form he displayed with the Nationals earlier in 2019 makes it unlikely that he'll capture a meaningful setup role right off the bat. Despite having a need for reliable relief arms, Washington couldn't justify keeping Barraclough around after he posted a 6.66 ERA and 1.75 WHIP across his 33 appearances.

Neris (3-5) blew the save but earned the win against the Mets on Sunday, pitching 1.2 scoreless innings and giving up one walk while striking out two.

Neris entered with runners on second and third and one down in the eighth inning and induced a fielder's choice on a grounder to first base but then allowed an inherited run to score on a wild pitch. Buoyed by three runs in the bottom of the inning, Neris returned for the ninth and set the Mets down in order to pick up his third win. The tough-luck blown save was Neris' sixth of the season but he remains in firm control of the closer position in Philadelphia, posting a 3.14 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 75:20 K:BB along with 23 saves this season.

Ponce de Leon (1-2) suffered the loss in the second game of a doubleheader against Cincinnati on Sunday, hurling four innings and giving up four runs (three earned) on five hits and one walk while striking out two.

Ponce de Leon was called up from Triple-A Memphis prior to the game to make the spot start and completed four innings before exiting in the fifth after giving up a homer, double and HBP without retiring a batter. The 27-year-old has now thrown 44.2 innings in the majors this season, compiling a 4.03 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 46:22 K:BB. His next appearance will likely be out of the bullpen.
