Dominguez received good news after having his elbow examined and is set to resume his throwing program, Jim Salisbury of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.

Dominguez has seemingly been in limbo since injuring his elbow in early June, but he is ready to give throwing a shot for the first time in nearly a month. There's still a chance Dominguez could return to action before this season comes to a close, but he will need to avoid any further hiccups; even then, he will only have a matter of weeks to make significant progress.

Shaw (2-2) was the pitcher of record in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Dodgers after giving up a pair of solo home runs and retiring one hitter in relief.

Starter Chi Chi Gonzalez cruised through the first six innings before running into trouble in the bottom of the seventh, when he allowed two of three batters he faced to reach base before being pulled. Shaw was called on to put out the fire and induced a lineout from Enrique Hernandez before surrendering a go-ahead, three-run home run to Russell Martin. Since surprising with a two-inning, six-strikeout performance of this same Dodgers team July 30, Shaw has allowed 11 earned runs over his last 12 innings, ballooning his ERA to 5.54 in the process.

Wilson was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett following Tuesday's game against Toronto.

It's a bit of an odd move, as the Braves have no reason to clear a spot due to the expanded September rosters. Perhaps the team simply felt they weren't going to use him the rest of the way. He got knocked around for a pair of runs in 1.1 innings in Tuesday's contest and owns a poor 7.20 ERA in 20 total innings on the season.

Gsellman (triceps) played catch Wednesday and remains hopeful to pitch again this season, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

After the Mets revealed in late August that Gsellman was contending with a partially torn right triceps, the expectation was that the team would shut him down for the season. That still seems to be the most likely outcome, but Gsellman hasn't thrown in the towel just yet. Assuming his triceps responds well to throwing off flat ground, he'll likely advance to mound work next week and target a return from the injured list in late September.

Hudson retired two batters and served up three unearned runs on two hits and a walk in Tuesday's 11-10 win over the Mets.

Though Hudson was able to keep his season ERA at a pristine 2.86, he wasn't effective in the outing. He let the Mets push their lead to six with two outs in the top of the ninth, surrendering a two-run single to Jeff McNeil and then a two-run home run to Pete Alonso. Hudson has now given up long balls in both of his last two relief appearances, a development that could hurt his standing in the Nationals' bullpen pecking order. With Sean Doolittle having recently returned from the injured list, Hudson isn't a strong bet to receive many save chances the rest of the way anyhow.

The Nationals transferred Williams (shoulder) to the 60-day injured list Wednesday.

The right-hander had already been ruled out for the season while on the mend from a sprained AC joint in his right shoulder, so the transaction is merely a procedural one. Washington called up reliever Aaron Barrett from Double-A Harrisburg in a corresponding move.

Rodriguez (5-8) took the loss Tuesday, allowing one run on five hits and a walk over seven innings while striking out seven as the Giants were downed 1-0 by the Cardinals.

The right-hander set a new season high in strikeouts while locked in a pitchers' duel with Jack Flaherty, but a hanging curveball in the sixth inning got deposited in the seats by Marcell Ozuna, and that was that. Rodriguez will carry a 5.15 ERA and 58:30 K:BB through 87.1 innings into his next start Sunday, on the road against the Dodgers.

Hader struck out two in a perfect ninth inning Tuesday to record his 28th save of the season in a 4-2 win over the Astros.

The southpaw has found his form at the right time for Milwaukee. Hader has reeled off five straight scoreless appearances, fanning multiple batters in the last four, and he now sports a 2.70 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 115:17 K:BB through 63.1 innings on the year. The Brewers now sit four games back of the second NL wild-card spot, with two other teams between then and the Cubs, so Hader will need to stay dominant down the stretch if they're going to see action in October.

Jansen picked up the save against the Rockies on Tuesday, giving up a hit and a run in the ninth inning before closing out the Dodgers' 5-3 victory. He walked one and didn't record a strikeout.

Jansen didn't make it easy, as he yielded a run while trying to protect a 5-2 lead, but he managed to bounce back and pick up his 28th save of the season. The 31-year-old has now given up a run in four out of his last six appearances, leaving him with a 3.86 ERA over 53.2 innings, a figure quite a bit higher than the dominant numbers we've seen him put up in past years. However, manager Dave Roberts has said he's sticking with Jansen as the primary closer, so his job seems secure for the time being.

Bolanos (0-1) took the loss against the Diamondbacks on Tuesday, giving up two earned runs on five hits over six innings, striking out four and walking two as the Padres eventually fell 2-1.

Making his big-league debut after getting called up from Double-A Amarillo, Bolanos was impressive in logging a quality start, but wound up tagged with the loss as he was outdueled by Merrill Kelly. It remains to be seen if he sticks in the rotation, but this was a successful audition, so the Padres might feel compelled to give him another turn.
