Hader struck out two in a perfect ninth inning Tuesday to record his 28th save of the season in a 4-2 win over the Astros.

The southpaw has found his form at the right time for Milwaukee. Hader has reeled off five straight scoreless appearances, fanning multiple batters in the last four, and he now sports a 2.70 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 115:17 K:BB through 63.1 innings on the year. The Brewers now sit four games back of the second NL wild-card spot, with two other teams between then and the Cubs, so Hader will need to stay dominant down the stretch if they're going to see action in October.

Jansen picked up the save against the Rockies on Tuesday, giving up a hit and a run in the ninth inning before closing out the Dodgers' 5-3 victory. He walked one and didn't record a strikeout.

Jansen didn't make it easy, as he yielded a run while trying to protect a 5-2 lead, but he managed to bounce back and pick up his 28th save of the season. The 31-year-old has now given up a run in four out of his last six appearances, leaving him with a 3.86 ERA over 53.2 innings, a figure quite a bit higher than the dominant numbers we've seen him put up in past years. However, manager Dave Roberts has said he's sticking with Jansen as the primary closer, so his job seems secure for the time being.

Bolanos (0-1) took the loss against the Diamondbacks on Tuesday, giving up two earned runs on five hits over six innings, striking out four and walking two as the Padres eventually fell 2-1.

Making his big-league debut after getting called up from Double-A Amarillo, Bolanos was impressive in logging a quality start, but wound up tagged with the loss as he was outdueled by Merrill Kelly. It remains to be seen if he sticks in the rotation, but this was a successful audition, so the Padres might feel compelled to give him another turn.

Sims allowed one run on three hits and zero walks over 2.2 innings during Tuesday's 6-2 loss to the Reds. He struck out two and didn't factor in the decision.

Sims was pushed into starting duty after Alex Wood was scratched with a back issue, and he performed pretty well by delivering 26 of his 34 pitches for strikes. The 25-year-old has a 4.86 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 46:13 K:BB through 33.1 innings and figures to return to his bullpen role.

Diaz (1-7) allowed two earned runs on two hits without recording an out to blow the save and take the loss Tuesday against the Nationals.

Diaz was hardly the only contributor to the epic collapse of the Mets' bullpen in the ninth inning when the team surrendered seven runs to the Nationals. However, the last five runs crossed the plate with Diaz on the mound, capped by a three-run homer by Kurt Suzuki. Though he had put together scoreless outings in seven of his last eight appearances prior to Tuesday's outing, it's difficult to imagine the Mets turning to him in many save situations to conclude the season given Seth Lugo's superior performance this season.

Reyes was recalled from Triple-A El Paso on Tuesday.

Reyes has struggled mightily in the big leagues this season, accruing an 11.25 ERA and 1.75 WHIP over 16 frames, but the Padres will give him another shot down the stretch. He figures to slot into a low-leverage role.

The Pirates announced Tuesday that Wang has joined the major-league team.

Wang was claimed off waivers from the A's last weekend after being designated for assignment. His numbers with Oakland were actually pretty good (3.33 ERA, 1.22 WHIP in 20 appearances), but the peripherals were far less glowing, and he had a lot of trouble with the long ball at Triple-A. The lefty will likely work in mop-up duty for Pittsburgh.

Pivetta was recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Tuesday, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Pivetta was optioned to Triple-A on Aug. 24, but he'll be eligible to return to the majors after spending the last 10 days with the IronPigs. The right-hander owns a 5.38 ERA and 1.52 WHIP with an 83:35 K:BB over 88.2 innings this season with the Phillies.

Wilson was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday.

Wilson owns a 6.75 ERA and 1.71 WHIP with 16 strikeouts over 18.2 innings with the big-league club this season, and he'll get another chance to pitch for Atlanta after rosters expanded to 40 on Sunday.

Minter was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday.

Minter has struggled to a 7.24 ERA and 1.98 WHIP with a 33:23 K:BB over 27.1 innings this season in the majors, but after rosters expanded Sunday, he'll get another shot with Atlanta. He began the year in the closer's role, but he's unlikely to see many chances over Mark Melancon over the final weeks of the regular season.
