Holmes was placed on the 10-day injured list with a right forearm strain Tuesday, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.

After his fastball clocked in at 94.3 mph over the past two seasons, Holmes' velocity was down to 92.4 mph in his first appearance in 2020, and this forearm injury may have very well played a part in that. It's unclear how much time the right-hander will miss as a result. Despite his decreased velocity, Holmes allowed no runs on two hits and no walks while striking out one over 1.1 innings in his season debut.

Gallegos (not injury related) was activated from the 10-day injured list Tuesday.

Gallegos missed the beginning of the regular season after he was a late arrival to camp, but he's now game ready and will be available out of the bullpen. Although Kwang-Hyun Kim is currently serving as the team's closer, he wasn't incredibly sharp when he picked up his first save. As a result, Gallegos could be in the mix to compete for save chances if he pitches consistently to begin the year.

Stephenson was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a back strain.

Stephenson had a rough outing in his first relief appearance of the season, giving up two runs on two hits and no walks while recording one strikeout as the only out he logged. However, the injury may have had something to do with his struggles, and he'll be sidelined for a minimum of 10 days. It's unclear exactly how much time he'll miss.

Sborz was recalled by the Dodgers on Tuesday, Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Sborz will replace Alex Wood, who hit the injured list with shoulder inflammation in a corresponding move. Sborz has been strictly a reliever for the last two seasons, though, so he won't be taking Wood's spot in the rotation. Expect him to fill a low-leverage relief role during his time on the big-league roster.

Burdi was not available to pitch in Monday's extra-inning loss to Milwaukee, DK Pittsburgh Sports reports.

"Coming off the injuries he has and what he's done, we're going to be careful in terms of his usage going forward," manager Derek Shelton said. Burdi threw 11 pitches Sunday. Relievers Michael Feliz and Kyle Crick surrendered four ninth-inning runs Monday night while Pittsburgh rested Burdi.

Hader threw a scoreless ninth inning in Monday's extra-inning victory over the Pirates. He walked a batter and struck out another.

Hader entered Monday's contest with the score tied at five and did not get a chance to pick up a save, but manager Craig Counsell decided to get him in the game both to preserve the tie and give him his first work of the season. Fellow reliever and former closer Corey Knebel is healthy but not quite back to his old self, which makes it likely Hader will be used more as a traditional closer than one sharing the ninth-inning duties with someone else. As such, expect Hader to get the ball next time the Brewers find themselves in a save situation.

Antone was strong in relief in his major-league debut against the Cubs on Monday night, allowing one run on a hit (a homer) and a walk over 4.1 innings, striking out five.

Antone even got the PitchingNinja treatment on his first strikeout, a 97 mph two-seamer. More importantly, he helped save the bullpen and earned the trust of manager of David Bell for the future.

Kimbrel gave up two runs on four walks, a hit batter and a wild pitch over one-third of an inning during Monday's 8-7 win over the Reds.

The veteran closer was entrusted with a three-run lead to begin the ninth inning but was unable to record the save, as he threw only 13 of 34 pitches for strikes and needed Jeremy Jeffress to bail him out. Kimbrel still got credit for a hold, but this was hardly the way he, the Cubs, or anyone with fantasy shares in him expected his season to begin. If there was a silver lining to the outing it was that his velocity was OK -- he topped out at 97.5 mph with his fastball, on the pitch that plunked Freddy Galvis -- but Kimbrel will need to turn things around fast if he's going to keep hold of the closer spot.

Clarke allowed two walks and struck out three over 3.2 scoreless innings in Monday's 6-2 loss to the Padres.

Clarke was needed for bulk innings as starter Luke Weaver ran into fourth-inning difficulty. The right-hander is being used as a multi-inning reliever and, if the need arises, starting depth.

The Marlins claimed Smith off waivers from the Reds on Monday.

Smith wasn't included on the Reds' initial 30-man roster and was designated for assignment Friday, but he'll find a role with the Marlins' pitching staff. He's unlikely to play a significant role in Miami after posting a 6.39 ERA over 12.2 innings in the majors in his only experience in the big leagues last season.
