Melancon pitched a perfect ninth inning for the save in Sunday's 12-10 win over the Phillies.

While runs reigned early in the contest, Melancon was able to lock things down in his appearance, earning his sixth save of the season. The 35-year-old closer has a 3.09 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and six strikeouts across 11.2 innings this season, and he's now 6-for-7 in save chances. He's given up runs in three of his last five outings, so he'll need to build on Sunday's scoreless effort to protect his claim to the closer role.

Adams (knee) was traded from the Mariners to the Padres on Sunday in a trade involving Ty France several players, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.

Adams has been recovering since undergoing knee surgery in September of 2019, but he appears to be nearing his return to the mound. The right-hander had been throwing to begin the season, but he'll have to face live hitters at some point before he's cleared to return to game action. Adams made 30 appearances (two starts) with the Nationals and Mariners in his first major-league season in 2019, and he posted a 3.94 ERA and 53:16 K:BB over 32 innings.

Voth (0-4) took the loss against Boston on Sunday, allowing five runs on six hits and a walk across two innings. He struck out three.

Voth has now allowed 19 runs in 13.2 innings over his last four starts. No announcement has been made about whether the right-hander will stay in the rotation going forward, but it would come as no surprise if Washington decides to look elsewhere for innings. If Voth manages to make another start, it will likely come Friday in Atlanta.

Diaz (1-1) allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits and one walk while striking out zero over one inning as he was charged with the loss during Game 1 of Sunday's doubleheader against the Yankees.

Diaz had put together scoreless outings in nine of his past 10 outings, but he was charged with his third blown save of the season Sunday as he allowed a two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning. He remained in the game for the eighth inning but allowed a walkoff single. The right-hander now carries a 2.77 ERA as he's converted two of his five save opportunities this season.

Clarke gave up one run on one hit and a walk while striking out seven over five innings in a no-decision versus the Giants on Sunday.

Clarke got his mistake out of the way early, with a first-inning solo shot by Alex Dickerson as the only blemish on his line. The 27-year-old righty has given up just three runs (two earned) on five hits and three walks over a combined nine innings in two starts. He struck out 11 over that span. Clarke's ERA sits at a solid 2.22 with a 0.95 WHIP and 25 strikeouts across 24.1 innings overall this season. Despite the solid numbers, Clarke may find himself back in the bullpen when Madison Bumgarner (back) returns.

Coonrod pitched a perfect ninth inning to earn the save in Sunday's 4-1 win over the Diamondbacks.

Coonrod retired Starling Marte, David Peralta and Christian Walker on groundouts, needing 14 pitches to complete the clean outing. The 27-year-old reliever hasn't seen much ninth-inning usage this year -- Sunday was his first save to go with two holds in eight appearances. Both Tony Watson and Taylor Rogers put in scoreless efforts before Coonrod took the mound. Through 7.1 innings, Coonrod has a 3.68 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and five strikeouts.

Reyes, who was charged with his first loss in an extra-innings defeat at the hands of the Indians on Saturday, has nevertheless allowed earned runs in only two of seven appearances and boasts a 29.7 percent strikeout rate across 8.1 innings.

The promising right-hander's career has been a series of fits and starts due to injuries, but he's finally getting a chance to deliver a successful encore to an impressive 2016 rookie campaign and putting it to good use overall. Reyes did have a pair of hiccups against the Royals earlier in the week, but he's otherwise missed plenty of bats and also has one victory, which came in one of those uneven performances against Kansas City on Wednesday. Reyes' control, which has been an issue since his minor-league days, does continue to be a weakness; however, he can be dominant when he's honed in, with Saturday's two scoreless innings during which he allowed just one unearned run and recorded three strikeouts without issuing a walk serving as the latest example.

Pomeranz gave up one hit in a scoreless inning Saturday against Colorado.

Pomeranz returned to action after a minimum stay on the injured list and looked sharp, needing only 12 pitches (nine strikes) to navigate his way through the frame. He gave up a single to Nolan Arenado leading off the inning but subsequently induced a double-play grounder and another groundout. Pomeranz is likely to return to a setup role with San Diego's acquisition of closer Trevor Rosenthal on Saturday.

The Cubs optioned Alzolay to their alternate training site following Saturday's doubleheader split with the Reds.

Alzolay served as the 29th man in the twin bill and came on in relief of Alec Mills in the second game of the doubleheader, which the Cubs lost 6-5. He worked a scoreless fourth inning in the appearance, working around a hit and a walk while striking out two.

Sborz was optioned to the Dodgers' alternate training site Sunday, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.

Sborz spent the past 10 days with the big-league club, but he appeared in only one game and had one strikeout over a scoreless frame. Tony Gonsolin was recalled to start Sunday's contest in a corresponding move.
