  • Tejay Antone RP | CIN

Reds' Tejay Antone: Heading back to IL

Antone is heading back to the IL with the same right forearm strain that previously sidelined him, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.

Antone had only been back for two games this week and wasn't effective in either outing. With Lucas Sims also out, the Reds will be pressed to find good relief work. The most likely closers in their bullpen are Brad Brach, Amir Garrett and Heath Hembree, but they don't have a designated closer by manager David Bell's design.

  • Tim Hill RP | NYY

Padres' Tim Hill: Secures 10th hold

Hill earned a hold Friday against Arizona, pitching a scoreless inning during which he gave up two hits and struck out one.

The lefty surrendered a pair of singles to lead off the frame but bounced back to retire the next three batters and keep the Diamondbacks off the scoreboard. Hill has hung a goose egg in 11 of his past 12 outings and has registered a 2.35 ERA and 1.17 WHIP overall this season. He hasn't picked up any saves or holds but does have four wins in relief while racking up a 36:11 K:BB across 30.2 frames.

  • Phillies' Enyel De Los Santos: Remains with major-league club

De Los Santos was recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Saturday, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

De Los Santos served as the 27th man in Friday's doubleheader against the Mets, but he didn't appear out of the bullpen. He'll remain with the Phillies as part of the 26-man roster after outfielder Matt Vierling was sent down Saturday.

  • Max Kranick RP | WAS

Pirates' Max Kranick: Joining big-league club

Kranick was called up by the Pirates on Saturday, Alex Stumpf of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.

Kranick projects as not much more than a back-end starter. In seven starts split across the two highest levels of the minors this season, he owns a 4.37 ERA while striking out 24.7 percent of opposing batters and walking 6.2 percent. The Pirates haven't officially named their starter for Sunday's game against the Cardinals, so it's possible he'll get the nod.

  • Jimmy Nelson RP | LAD

Dodgers' Jimmy Nelson: Picks up fifth hold

Nelson notched a hold against the Cubs on Friday despite allowing a run on a hit and a walk in one-third of an inning.

Nelson appeared to be having trouble gripping the ball in the contest, and he threw only five of 13 pitches for strikes as a result. He allowed the first two batters he faced to reach base and gave way to Blake Treinen after Chicago gave up an out by having Sandy Alcantara sacrifice the runners over. When the lead runner subsequently came around to score, Nelson's streak of 12 outings covering 14.1 innings without allowing a run came to an end. Despite his struggles Friday, Nelson has been a revelation out of the bullpen for the Dodgers this season, registering a 2.25 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 39:13 K:BB across 24 innings. His 14.6 K/9 leads Dodgers relievers.

  • Blake Treinen RP | LAD

Dodgers' Blake Treinen: Gets win Friday

Treinen (2-3) pitched 1.2 scoreless innings Friday against the Cubs. He allowed one hit and struck out two as he picked up his second win of the year.

Treinen entered with two men on and one out in the seventh and allowed the Cubs to tie up the game on a sacrifice fly by Joc Pederson. The 32-year-old then allowed Javier Baez to lead off the eighth with a single but struck out Anthony Rizzo and Willson Contreras before getting Eric Sogard to line out to end the inning. Treinen has bounced back nicely after showing some signs of regression over the last two seasons. He owns a 3.23 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 36:9 K:BB as one of the top arms in the Dodgers' bullpen.

  • Shelby Miller RP | CHC

Pirates' Shelby Miller: Lands minor-league deal

Miller signed a minor-league contract with the Pirates on Saturday, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Miller was released by the Cubs at the beginning of June after being designated for assignment, and he'll now report to Triple-A Indianapolis once he clears COVID-19 protocols. The right-hander made three starts for Triple-A Iowa this year and posted a 1.74 ERA and 0.99 WHIP over 10.1 innings.

  • Will Smith RP | KC

Braves' Will Smith: Secures 16th save

Smith gave up a hit and struck out two in a scoreless ninth inning Friday to record his 16th save of the season in a 3-2 win over the Reds.

The veteran closer has been locked in the last couple of weeks, reeling off seven straight scoreless appearances while going 5-for-5 in save chances with a 7:0 K:BB. The hot streak has lowered Smith's ratios to a 3.69 ERA and 1.07 WHIP -- impressive for a reliever who had marks of 5.02 and 1.40, respectively as recently as May 13.

  • Nick Ramirez RP | LAD

Padres' Nick Ramirez: Earns first win of year

Ramirez (1-1) tossed 1.2 scoreless innings Friday against the Diamondbacks. He walked one and struck out one as he picked up his first win of the year.

Ramirez was called upon with one out and two runners in scoring position in the third after Chris Paddack got tagged for five runs in Friday's start. He got out of the jam and then went on to toss a 1-2-3 fourth inning before turning the ball over to Miguel Diaz. Friday was Ramirez's first outing since May 25 after he was recalled from Triple-A El Paso on Sunday. He owns a 4.38 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 8:5 K:BB over 12.1 innings and should continue to work as a middle innings reliever.

  • J.B. Bukauskas RP | MIL

    Diamondbacks' J.B. Bukauskas: Throws bullpen

Bukauskas (elbow) threw a bullpen session Thursday, according to MLB.com.

That's the second time this week Bukauskas has thrown, and he's expected to begin a rehab assignment soon.
