  • Zack Littell SP | WAS

Giants' Zack Littell: Not giving up much

Littell has allowed just three hits and no walks while striking out two over five innings in 2022.

The right-hander pitched well in spring training, and he's carried over that success into the regular season. Littell has often entered in the middle innings, though his solid work thus far could help his case for high-leverage work. He's yet to record a decision, but he has picked up a hold in five outings.

  • David Bednar RP | NYY

Pirates' David Bednar: Escapes with save

Bednar allowed two hits and a walk in a shutout inning Sunday, striking out three and earning a save over the Cubs.

Bednar allowed back-to-back doubles to Rafael Ortega and Seiya Suzuki before intentionally walking Ian Happ to load the bases in the ninth inning. Frank Schwindel would become his third strikeout victim of the inning as Bednar finished off the 4-3 win. The 27-year-old Pittsburgh native has yet to allow a run through eight innings this season while posting a 12:2 K:BB.

  • Josh Hader RP | HOU

Brewers' Josh Hader: Maintains perfect record

Hader saved Sunday's 1-0 win over Philadelphia, striking out one in a 1-2-3 ninth inning.

Hader made quick work of the Phillies in the ninth inning to secure his eighth save in eight appearances on the season. He remains arguably the top closer in MLB and should receive ample opportunity moving forward on a strong Milwaukee team.

  • Devin Williams RP | NYM

Brewers' Devin Williams: Registers first win

Williams (1-0) picked up the win in a 1-0 victory over the Phillies on Sunday, walking one with one strikeout in one inning.

Williams pitched the eighth inning of a 0-0 tie and fell in line for the victory when Milwaukee took the lead in the top of the ninth. The 27-year-old now has seven holds and a win in eight appearances this season -- all Milwaukee wins -- despite a 5.68 ERA due to a pair of poor outings.

  • Sean Manaea RP | NYM

Padres' Sean Manaea: Hit hard in loss

Manaea (2-2) took the loss during Sunday's 10-2 defeat at the hands of the Dodgers, allowing seven runs (six earned) on six hits and three walks with five strikeouts in 4.1 innings.

This was Manaea's first poor outing with his new team, as he permitted runs in each inning except the second and departed with the bases loaded and the game at a respectable 4-1. Reliever Dinelson Lamet allowed all three inherited runners and one additional to score and put the game out of reach. Manaea's ERA jumped more than two full runs from 1.42 to 3.47 due to the blow-up, and he'll look to rebound against Pittsburgh on Saturday.

  • Lucas Sims RP | CHW

Reds' Lucas Sims: Earns first save

Sims tossed a scoreless inning and notched a save against St. Louis on Sunday.

Sims was activated from the injured list Friday and was tagged with two runs in his season debut Saturday. The Reds went right back to him Sunday and he fired a perfect inning, forcing three straight groundouts to close out the 4-1 win. The 6-foot-2 righty recorded seven saves in 47 innings last season.

  • Joan Adon SP | WAS

Nationals' Joan Adon: Gives up five runs Sunday

Adon (1-3) allowed five runs on six hits and a walk while striking out three in four innings to take the loss against the Giants on Sunday.

Adon earned the win Tuesday against the Diamondbacks by tossing 6.1 scoreless innings, but he was much less effective in Sunday's outing. He gave up a leadoff home run to Joc Pederson and struggled to turn things around later in the start. The right-hander has now given up at least four runs in three of his first four starts of the season, and he's posted a 6.98 ERA and 1.66 WHIP in 19.1 innings. He tentatively lines up for a rematch against the Giants on the road Saturday.

  • Sam Long RP | KC

    Giants' Sam Long: Starting Monday

Long will start Monday's game against the Brewers, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Long served as an opener in Friday's win over Washington and tossed two scoreless frames. He hasn't yet allowed a run in 4.2 innings this year, and he'll draw the start in Monday's matchup while Carlos Rodon takes the mound Tuesday.

  • Adonis Medina RP | SEA

Mets' Adonis Medina: Sent to Triple-A

Medina was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Medina was promoted Saturday and made his season debut in Arizona, and he struck out the side on 22 pitches. He'll head back to the minors but should be in the mix to rejoin the Mets later in the year. Yoan Lopez was recalled from Syracuse in a corresponding move.

  • Anthony Bender RP | MIA

Marlins' Anthony Bender: Battling hip soreness

Bender didn't enter for Saturday's save opportunity due to hip soreness, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

The injury apparently cropped up during his last outing Wednesday against St. Louis, when he took the loss after giving up two runs on a hit with a strikeout and a walk over one inning. Bender is apparently feeling better, but the Marlins will remain cautious with his return. Tanner Scott picked up the save Saturday, as Miami's closing situation remains wide open with Dylan Floro (shoulder) still on the injured list. Bender has struggled early in the campaign and has an 8.31 ERA over 4.1 frames while converting two of three save chances.
