  • Josh Hader RP | HOU

Brewers' Josh Hader: Shaky in save

Hader picked up a save Sunday, allowing a run on two hits while striking out two in a 10-9 victory over Colorado.

After striking out the first two batters, Hader gave up a triple and a single to cut the lead to one. With Kris Bryant at the plate, Hader got behind in the count 2-0 before getting Bryant to softly ground out, ending the game. Hader has earned the save in three of his last four opportunities despite allowing 13 runs over his last 6.1 frames. The lefty has seen his ERA jump from 1.05 on July 3 to 4.50 after Sunday's outing. With the Brewers battling for a spot in the postseason, manager Craig Counsell may be less patient with Hader if his struggles continue.

  • Marlins' Huascar Brazoban: Promoted Sunday

Brazoban had his contract selected by the Marlins on Sunday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Brazoban has a 3.18 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 59:16 K:BB across 45.1 innings for Triple-A Jacksonville this year, and he'll now receive his first look in the majors. The 32-year-old should fill a low-leverage role while up with the Marlins.

  • Anthony Bender RP | MIA

Marlins' Anthony Bender: Moves to 60-day IL

Bender (back) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Sunday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Bender has already been on the injured list for nearly 60 days, so the transaction won't affect his return timeline. The 27-year-old began a rehab assignment in mid-July, and he could rejoin the Marlins after making a couple more outings in the minors.

  • Jeff Brigham RP | CHC

Marlins' Jeff Brigham: Rejoins big club

Brigham had his contract selected by the Marlins on Sunday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Brigham lost his spot on Miami's 40-man roster during the offseason, but he'll now receive his first look in the majors of 2022. The right-hander has a 3.96 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 62:20 K:BB across 38.2 innings for Triple-A Jacksonville this season.

  • Giants' Gregory Santos: Back in majors

Santos was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Santos had a brief stint in the majors during early May and is now back up with the Giants. He covered 1.2 scoreless frames in his lone appearance for San Francisco, and he has a 3.70 ERA in 23 appearances for Sacramento.

  • Edwin Uceta RP | TB

Diamondbacks' Edwin Uceta: Sent to Triple-A

Uceta was optioned to Triple-A Reno on Sunday.

Uceta has been up in the majors the past couple weeks and made two appearances for Arizona during that stretch, and he allowed one earned run across 3.2 innings. The right-hander has covered 30.1 frames for Reno this year with a 4.15 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 40:16 K:BB.

  • James Naile RP | STL

Cardinals' James Naile: Returns to majors

Naile was recalled from Triple-A Memphis on Sunday.

The right-hander was demoted to Memphis in early July and will rejoin the big-league club after Steven Matz (knee) was placed on the 15-day IL. Naile has appeared in three games for the Cardinals this season and has yet to allow a run over 4.2 innings.

  • Corbin Martin RP | CHC

Diamondbacks' Corbin Martin: Promoted for Sunday's start

Martin was recalled from Triple-A Reno and will start Sunday against the Nationals.

The 26-year-old was previously announced as the starter for Sunday's contest, and he's now officially been added to Arizona's active roster. Martin has come out of the bullpen in his five big-league appearances this year and has a 4.40 ERA and 14:6 K:BB across 14.1 innings, though he's worked as a starter in the minors and delivered eight shutout innings for Reno in his last start.

  • Tommy Nance RP | TOR

Marlins' Tommy Nance: Suffers groin strain

Nance was placed on the 15-day injured list Sunday with a right groin strain, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Nance presumably sustained the injury during Saturday's appearance against the Pirates when he allowed two hits and a walk with two strikeouts in a scoreless inning. The 31-year-old will now be unavailable for at least the next couple weeks.

  • Ryan Helsley RP | BAL

Cardinals' Ryan Helsley: Records four-out save

Helsley struck out three in 1.1 perfect innings to earn the save in Saturday's 6-3 win over the Reds.

Helsley got the final out of the eighth inning and then struck out the side in the ninth. He's allowed only one unearned run in 9.2 innings in July while posting an impressive 15:2 K:BB this month. The 28-year-old continues to dominate as the Cardinals' top closer. He's up to nine saves in 12 chances with six holds, a 0.67 ERA, 0.64 WHIP and 60:12 K:BB across 40.1 innings.
