Diamondbacks' Brandyn Garcia: Back in majors

The Diamondbacks recalled Garcia from Triple-A Reno on Friday.

Garcia has given up five runs (four earned) over just 3.1 innings in the majors this season, but he owns a 3.27 ERA at Triple-A Reno since being sent down at the beginning of the month. He'll now return to the D-backs' bullpen to provide the team with a fresh arm, replacing Taylor Rashi.

  • Evan Sisk P | PIT

Pirates' Evan Sisk: Returns to Pittsburgh

The Pirates recalled Sisk from Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday.

Sisk was optioned to the minors last Wednesday, but he'll now return to the big leagues to replace Kyle Nicolas, who went on the bereavement list Friday. Sisk has appeared in nine MLB games this season between the Royals and Pirates, giving up four earned runs while striking out 15 batters and walking six over 8.2 innings.

  • Kyle Nicolas RP | CIN

Pirates' Kyle Nicolas: Placed on bereavement list

The Pirates placed Nicolas on the bereavement list Friday.

Nicolas will be permitted to miss 3-7 games while he tends to more important matters. Evan Sisk was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis in a corresponding move and will take Nicolas' place in Pittsburgh's bullpen.

  • Rob Zastryzny RP | MIL

Brewers' Rob Zastryzny: Reinstated from injured list

The Brewers activated Zastryzny (ribs) from the 15-day injured list Friday.

Zastryzny has been out since late June with a stress reaction in his ribs but is ready to go after overcoming a previous setback. He'll give manager Pat Murphy another left-handed option in the bulllpen.

  • Easton McGee SP | MIL

Brewers' Easton McGee: Sent back to Nashville

The Brewers optioned McGee to Triple-A Nashville on Friday.

McGee had thrown 3.2 innings covering two appearances over the last two days, so he wasn't going to be available to pitch for a day or two. Rob Zastryzny (ribs) is coming off the injured list to take McGee's roster spot.

  • Kevin Herget RP | NYM

Mets' Kevin Herget: Sent back to Triple-A

The Mets optioned Herget to Triple-A Syracuse on Friday.

Herget will cede his spot on the active roster to Jonah Tong. Herget was called up Wednesday and threw 2.2 scoreless innings against the Marlins on Thursday. The 34-year-old has a 2.00 ERA in 27 innings with Syracuse in 2025.

  • Ryan Helsley RP | BAL

Mets' Ryan Helsley: Believes he's tipping pitches

Helsley thinks his struggles since joining the Mets are a result of tipping pitches, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports. "I think I know how to fix it," the right-hander said Thursday. "So it's just being able to enforce that and that being my mental norm versus what I was doing to get my body to accept that and reinforce that."

The former Cardinals closer has a brutal 10.38 ERA, 2.31 WHIP and 11:7 K:BB in 8.2 innings with the Mets, and he's been tagged with multiple earned runs in four of his last six appearances. "It definitely stinks," Helsley said. "I've never gone through anything like this in my career." He's still looking for his first hold for New York after being acquired at the trade deadline to be the top set-up man for Edwin Diaz, instead taking three losses and getting charged with four blown saves.

  • Wander Suero RP | ATH

Braves' Wander Suero: Optioned to Triple-A

Atlanta optioned Suero to Triple-A Gwinnett on Friday.

Atlanta is supplementing its bullpen after Cal Quantrill's abbreviated start Thursday in Philadelphia. Suero gave up a couple runs while recording just one out in that loss and now finds himself back in the minors a day later.

  • Austin Cox RP | ATL

Braves' Austin Cox: Heading back to Gwinnett

Atlanta optioned Cox to Triple-A Gwinnett on Friday.

Cox was hammered for seven runs in a three-inning relief appearance Thursday in Philadelphia, throwing 68 pitches. He wasn't going to be available to pitch for a few days, so Atlanta is replacing him with a fresh bullpen arm.

  • Nathan Wiles P | ATL

Braves' Nathan Wiles: Recalled from Triple-A

Atlanta recalled Wiles from Triple-A Gwinnett on Friday.

Wiles was knocked around in his major-league debut earlier this season with Atlanta, allowing three runs over one inning. He's been used mostly as a starter at Gwinnett, so Wiles will offer length in the bullpen after starter Cal Quantrill lasted only 3.1 innings in Thursday's loss to the Phillies.
