Justin Topa RP | MIN
Brewers' Justin Topa: Remains in majors
Topa was recalled from Triple-A Nashville on Friday.
Topa joined the big-league club as the 29th man for Thursday's doubleheader against the Giants, and he'll remain in the majors after Freddy Peralta (shoulder) was placed on the 15-day injured list Friday. Topa hasn't yet pitched for the Brewers this year but should serve mainly as a middle reliever.

David Bednar RP | NYY
Pirates' David Bednar: Slated to face hitters
Bednar (back) will throw live batting practice Saturday, Alex Stumpf of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.
Bednar threw a side session Sunday and has been cleared to face hitters less than a week later. The Pirates haven't yet determined when the right-hander will begin a rehab assignment, but the team will likely make a decision based on how he feels following Saturday's throwing session.

Dillon Peters RP | PIT
Pirates' Dillon Peters: Beginning rehab assignment
Peters (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment at Double-A Altoona on Friday, Alex Stumpf of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.
Peters resumed throwing in late August and has been cleared to return to game action in the minors. The southpaw has been sidelined since Aug. 4 due to his elbow injury, so it's possible that he'll require more than one rehab appearance prior to rejoining the Pirates' bullpen.

Jordan Weems RP | LAD
Nationals' Jordan Weems: Recalled from Triple-A
Weems was recalled from Triple-A Rochester on Friday.
Weems was sent down to the minors in early August after recording a 6.57 ERA and 1.47 WHIP over 24.2 innings. Since then, he's thrown 10 scoreless innings and allowed just two hits in eight appearances. He will provide depth for a Nationals pitching staff that has seen its fair share of injuries lately.

Adonis Medina RP | SEA
Mets' Adonis Medina: Clears waivers
Medina cleared waivers and was sent to Triple-A Syracuse by the Mets on Friday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
Medina was designated for assignment Wednesday in order to make room on the Mets' 40-man roster for Alex Claudio. He's pitched 23.2 innings in the majors this season and holds a 6.08 ERA. His most recent big league performance saw him go just 0.1 innings and give up four earned runs.

Sean Hjelle RP | SF
Giants' Sean Hjelle: Returns to minors
Hjelle was returned to Triple-A Sacramento after Thursday's doubleheader in Milwaukee, Evan Webeck of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Hjelle joined the team as the 29th man for the twin bill. After allowing one run in five innings of bulk relief work, he'll return to the minors. The strong outing was only enough to lower his season ERA to 5.73, but his 15:4 K:BB across 11 frames is encouraging.

Alex Young RP | CIN
Giants' Alex Young: Takes loss as opener
Young (0-1) took the loss in Game 2 of Thursday's doubleheader, allowing three runs (one earned) on a hit and two walks over two-thirds of an inning.
An Evan Longoria error allowed the Brewers to build a first-inning rally against Young before Sean Hjelle got the final out of the frame. Young had pitched 3.2 scoreless innings over his last five appearances prior to this rough outing. He now has a 2.87 ERA, 1.72 WHIP, 14:9 K:BB and five holds through 18 appearances covering 15.2 innings between the Giants and the Guardians this year.

Tyler Rogers RP | TOR
Giants' Tyler Rogers: Fires scoreless inning
Rogers struck out one in a perfect inning during a 2-1 loss to the Brewers in the first game of Thursday's doubleheader.
Since the start of August, Rogers has allowed nine runs (six earned) over 15 innings spanning 14 appearances. He's added an 11:5 K:BB with a loss and two holds in that span. Rogers' relative inconsistency has prevented him from regaining a high-leverage role on a regular basis. For the year, he owns a 4.33 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 40:21 K:BB through 62.1 innings through 59 appearances.

Andre Pallante SP | STL
Cardinals' Andre Pallante: Handed loss Thursday
Pallante (6-5) allowed a run on two hits in one-third of an inning, taking the loss Thursday versus the Nationals.
Pallante's had a rough start to September, allowing six runs over 1.2 innings across three appearances. He was tagged with his first loss since July 5, which was back when he was still in the Cardinals' rotation. The right-hander's misstep Thursday was discouraging, but he still has a 3.27 ERA with a 1.41 WHIP and 69:35 K:BB through 99 innings across 38 appearances (10 starts). He's added seven holds, but he'll likely see lower-leverage assignments while he's struggling.
