  • Nick Nelson RP | PHI

Phillies' Nick Nelson: Picks up first career save

Nelson recorded the final out of Friday's 5-3 win over the Nationals to collect his first career save.

Brad Hand entered the game to begin the ninth inning, but after he surrendered a pair of two-out singles, Phillies interim manager Rob Thomson turned to Nelson to finish up. The right-hander doesn't seem likely to see consistent high-leverage usage going forward, however, as he's posted a 6.75 ERA, 1.72 WHIP and 13:8 K:BB through 13.1 innings since the beginning of August.

  • Dylan Floro RP | ARI

Marlins' Dylan Floro: Collects fourth save

Floro worked a perfect ninth inning Friday without striking out a batter to record his fourth save of the season in a 6-3 win over the Mets.

Tanner Scott was brought in to begin the seventh inning in a 4-3 game, leaving closing duties for Floro when the ninth rolled around. The right-hander's been effective in the second half, posting a 2.50 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 19:6 K:BB through 18 innings since the All-Star break with a win, two saves and two holds. If Scott's control issues persist, Floro could see more save chances over the final weeks.

  • Daniel Bard RP | COL

Rockies' Daniel Bard: Earns fifth win

Bard (5-4) pitched a perfect ninth inning to earn the win Friday against the Diamondbacks.

Bard entered the game with the score tied in the ninth inning and didn't allow a baserunner. Elias Diaz hit a three-run home run to give the Rockies a victory in the bottom of the frame, handing Bard his fifth win of the season. Bard has turned in five consecutive appearances without allowing an earned run, and he's tallied two wins and two saves in that span. For the season, Bard has maintained a 2.10 ERA and 1.07 WHIP with a 54:24 K:BB across 51.1 innings.

  • Blake Treinen RP | LAD

Dodgers' Blake Treinen: Dealing with arm soreness

Treinen was unavailable Friday against the Padres due to arm soreness, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Treinen has been effective over two appearances since returning to action, allowing no hits and a walk while striking out one in two scoreless innings over two outings. However, he hasn't pitched since Monday and has apparently been down with an arm issue. Manager Dave Roberts didn't sound too concerned about the injury, so Treinen should be considered day-to-day.

  • Kenley Jansen RP | DET

Braves' Kenley Jansen: Regains saves lead

Jansen saved Friday's 6-4 win against the Mariners, striking out two in a perfect ninth inning.

Jansen made quick work of the bottom of Seattle's lineup to record his MLB-leading 33rd save. The 34-year-old has now recorded two scoreless outings following a pair of recent poor efforts and possesses a 3.61 ERA and 1.09 WHIP in 52.1 innings across 53 appearances.

  • Brandon Hughes RP | CHC

Cubs' Brandon Hughes: Notches fourth save

Hughes allowed one hit and struck out one over 1.1 scoreless innings while earning a save against the Giants.

Hughes tossed 14 of 21 pitches for strikes to pick up his first save since Aug. 23. He lowered his season ERA to 3.17 alongside a 61:16 K:BB through 46 appearances in his rookie campaign. The 26-year-old southpaw has now converted four of his eight save chances.

  • Phillies' Seranthony Dominguez: Set to return Sunday

Dominguez (triceps) will be activated from the injured list Sunday, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Dominguez had a shot to return Saturday, but he will not have to wait long beyond that. He figures to be back in the mix for saves right away, particularly with several of his fellow relievers giving up runs in recent outings.

  • Dodgers' Brusdar Graterol: Will throw bullpen session Sunday

Graterol (elbow) will throw a bullpen session Sunday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

It was reported earlier this week that Graterol was on the verge of throwing off a mound, and he will indeed just do that this weekend. There remains a chance he could return to action Sept. 16 when first eligible.

  • Yency Almonte RP | LAD

Dodgers' Yency Almonte: Throws bullpen session

Almonte (elbow) threw a bullpen session Friday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Almonte has made good progress in recent weeks, and he has not encountered any issues since getting back on the bump. It remains to be seen what the next step in his recovery will be, but it might not be long before he is back with the big club.

  • Phillies' Seranthony Dominguez: Could return Saturday

Dominguez (triceps) could be activated off the injured list as soon as Saturday, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Dominguez has been out since mid-August due to triceps tendinitis, but it looks as though he'll be back for the final few weeks of the season. He walked two batters in his lone rehab outing for Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Thursday, but he also struck out one in a scoreless inning and sat 98-100 mph with his fastball. He recorded saves in three of his final five outings prior to hitting the injured list and should add to his total of nine on the season down the stretch.
