  • Jake Junis RP | TEX

Giants' Jakob Junis: Takes loss in relief outing

Junis (2-1) allowed three runs on six hits and no walks while striking out one over 2.2 innings, taking the loss Tuesday versus the Marlins.

Junis was responsible for Jazz Chisholm's three-run home run in the fourth inning, and the Giants' offense didn't bounce back from it. With starter Alex Wood (hamstring) likely headed for the injured list, one of Junis or Ross Stripling, who both pitched Tuesday, should get a look in the rotation. Stripling is a bit more stretched out, having covered 12.1 innings over four games compared to Junis' 12.2 innings in five appearances. Junis has struggled to a 4.26 ERA, 1.82 WHIP and 12:5 K:BB this season while filling a swingman role.

  • A.J. Puk RP | ARI

Marlins' A.J. Puk: Earns third save

Puk picked up the save Tuesday against the Giants. He allowed one hit while striking out two in a scoreless ninth inning.

Puk worked around Wilmer Flores' leadoff single, striking out a pair to secure his third save of the season and his second in as many days. The left-hander has pitched seven consecutive scoreless innings since allowing a run in his first outing of the season. Puk appears to have claimed the lead closing job in Miami, with Dylan Floro pitching the eighth Tuesday. The 27-year-old Puk is 1-0 with a 1.13 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 8:1 K:BB through eight innings to start the year.

  • Daniel Hudson RP | LAD

Dodgers' Daniel Hudson: Moved to 60-day IL

Hudson (knee) was transferred Tuesday from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Hudson has struggled to make progress with his rehab in recent weeks and now won't be an option for the Dodgers' bullpen until at least late May. He underwent surgery last June to repair a torn ACL in his left knee.

  • Dennis Santana RP | PIT

Mets' Dennis Santana: Sent outright to Triple-A

Santana was sent outright to Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday.

Santana passed through waivers unclaimed after being designated for assignment Saturday. He had yielded six earned runs through 7.2 major-league innings of relief this season with the Mets.

  • Jeff Brigham RP | CHC

Mets' Jeff Brigham: Moves up from Triple-A

The Mets recalled Brigham from Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday.

With Carlos Carrasco (elbow) being placed on the 15-day injured list Tuesday, Brigham will fill Carrasco's spot on the active roster. Brigham found a decent amount of success in the majors last season with Miami, posting a 3.38 ERA and 1.33 WHIP across 24 innings. He strikes batters out at a strong rate, but he likely won't appear in many high-leverage situations out of the bullpen while he's up with the big club.

  • Nick Nelson RP | PHI

Phillies' Nick Nelson: Set for rehab assignment

Nelson (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment Tuesday with Single-A Clearwater.

Nelson got the go-ahead after throwing live batting practice without issue over the weekend. He suffered a left hamstring strain in mid-March but is now on track to join the Phillies in a swingman role before the end of April.

  • Drew Pomeranz RP | LAA

Padres' Drew Pomeranz: Cleared for rehab assignment

Pomeranz (neck/elbow) is set to begin a rehab assignment Tuesday with Single-A Lake Elsinore.

Pomeranz was supposed to begin appearing in minor-league games last week before a neck strain caused a short delay. He hasn't thrown a pitch at the MLB level since August 2021 due to flexor tendon surgery, but that could change by the end of this month.

  • Luis Frias RP | CLE

Diamondbacks' Luis Frias: Optioned out to Triple-A

Frias was optioned Tuesday to Triple-A Reno.

Joe Mantiply (shoulder) has been activated from the IL in a corresponding roster move. Frias gave up four earned runs over 1.2 innings (two appearances) during his short stint in the Arizona bullpen.

  • Joe Mantiply RP | TOR

Diamondbacks' Joe Mantiply: Activated from injured list

Mantiply (shoulder) was activated Tuesday from the 15-day injured list.

Mantiply will join the Diamondbacks' bullpen Tuesday night in St. Louis after completing his recovery from left shoulder fatigue. The 32-year-old figures to quickly take on a high-leverage role coming off his impressive showing with Arizona in 2022.

  • Peter Lambert SP | HOU

Rockies' Peter Lambert: Recalled from Triple-A

Lambert was recalled Tuesday from Triple-A Albuquerque.

Lambert had posted a 3.68 ERA and 5:4 K:BB through 7.1 innings (three starts) this season at the Triple-A level. He'll presumably operate in a long relief with the Rockies as he makes his way back to the MLB level for the first time since 2021.
