  • Astros' Peter Lambert: Goes seven strong in win

Lambert (6-4) earned the win against the Tigers on Wednesday, allowing one run on two hits and no walks with five strikeouts over seven innings. Lambert cruised through six frames before allowing a solo homer in the seventh, throwing 60 of 89 pitches for strikes while limiting the Tigers to just four hard-hit balls. The 29-year-old has now recorded back-to-back quality starts and has yielded only four earned runs across three outings in June. He'll take a 3.23 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 58:25 K:BB over 64 innings this season into a road matchup against the Blue Jays next week.

  • Astros' Peter Lambert: Set to start Wednesday

Lambert (hand) is listed as Houston's probable starting pitcher for Wednesday's game against Detroit, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports. The right-hander departed his previous start last Wednesday versus the Angels after getting hit in the hand by a comebacker, but he was able to make it through his between-starts bullpen session without issue and won't be forced to miss a turn through the rotation. Lambert has a 3-0 record with a 3.32 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 18:11 K:BB in 21.2 innings across his past four starts.

  • Astros' Peter Lambert: Earns win Friday

Lambert (5-4) earned the win Friday over the Athletics after tossing 5.1 innings of one-run ball. He allowed five hits and four walks while fanning four. Lambert might have issued four walks while tossing just 57 of his 94 pitches for strikes, but he ended a three-game run in which he'd either thrown a wild pitch or hit a batter. The final line was respectable for Lambert, as he ended just two outs shy of a quality start while allowing one earned run or zero for the third time this season, though the command issues are still present. Over his last six starts since the beginning of May, Lambert has a 28:18 K:BB across 35.1 innings while sporting a 3.57 ERA and 1.27 WHIP. His next start should come on the road against the Angels.

  • Astros' Peter Lambert: Five quality innings in fourth win

Lambert (4-4) earned the win Saturday against the Brewers, allowing two runs on five hits and three walks in five innings. He struck out three. Lambert hung on for a solid outing Saturday, escaping a bases-loaded jam on a William Contreras groundout to finish his fifth and final inning of work. The 29-year-old right-hander has been something of a revelation during his first year with the Astros so far, tossing at least five frames in seven of his eight starts while giving up two runs or fewer in half of those outings. Lambert will carry a 3.77 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 43:21 K:BB across 45.1 innings into his next scheduled start at home against the division-rival Athletics.

  • Astros' Peter Lambert: Limits damage to three runs in win

Lambert (3-4) earned the win against the Cubs on Sunday, allowing three runs on five hits and four walks while striking out five across five innings. It wasn't exactly smooth sailing for Lambert, who allowed at least two baserunners in three of the first four innings of his start. All three runs he gave up came in the second frame, though it could have been worse given that he loaded the bases before striking out Michael Conforto to end the inning. Lambert ended his outing on a positive note by striking out two of three batters in the fifth, and he received enough run support from his Astros teammates to come away with his third win of the season. Lambert will take a 3.79 ERA and 1.17 WHIP over 40.1 innings into his next start, which is slated for next weekend at home against the Brewers.

  • Astros' Peter Lambert: Falters late in loss Sunday

Lambert (2-4) took the loss Sunday against the Rangers, allowing five runs on three hits and two walks while striking out six over six innings. Lambert was dominant early, keeping Texas hitless through the first four innings before taking damage in the fifth. After allowing his first hit of the game, he immediately surrendered a two-run homer to Jake Burger to open the scoring. Following a clean sixth inning, Houston allowed the right-hander back out for the seventh, but he allowed three straight baserunners to load the bases before exiting, and all three eventually came around to score. The five runs allowed marked a season high for Lambert, though he has still done an admirable job providing length for Houston's injury-riddled rotation, completing six innings in four of his last five starts. He now owns a 3.57 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 35:14 K:BB across 35.1 innings and is slated to face the Cubs next.

  • Astros' Peter Lambert: Dominates Dodgers in victory

Lambert (2-2) earned the win over the Dodgers on Tuesday, allowing three hits and issuing four walks while striking out four batters over seven scoreless innings. Lambert was a bit wild in issuing four free passes, but those didn't hurt him since he gave up only three hits. The right-hander did face some tension when Los Angeles loaded the bases against him in the fourth frame, but he got out of that inning unscathed in the scoring column and surrendered just one baserunner thereafter. Lambert's seven innings were a season high, and he notched his second quality start through four outings. He's getting a chance with Houston's rotation due to injuries to other pitchers, but Lambert may be earning his way to a permanent starting role, as he's posted a 2.42 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 23:11 K:B across 22.1 innings so far.

  • Astros' Peter Lambert: Fans eight in impressive outing

Lambert (1-1) picked up the win in Wednesday's 2-0 victory over the Guardians, allowing three hits and three walks over six scoreless innings. He struck out eight. The 29-year-old right-hander fanned eight batters for a second straight start since being called up to plug a hole in the Astros' injury-ravaged rotation. Lambert racked up 32 called or swinging strikes among his 96 pitches (61 total strikes) Wednesday, and the former Rockie seems to be enjoying pitching at sea level on a consistent basis. After producing a 1.84 ERA and 0.99 WHIP in 14.2 innings for Triple-A Sugar Land to begin the season, Lambert's given Houston a 3.27 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 16:4 K:BB over his first 11 big-league frames. He lines up to make his next start on the road early next week in Baltimore.

  • Astros' Colton Gordon: Shifts to bullpen

Gordon struck out five and allowed three earned runs on four hits and one walk across 2.2 innings out of the bullpen in Saturday's 7-5 loss to the Cardinals. Earlier in the week, Houston recalled Gordon from Triple-A Sugar Land and plugged him into a rotation that had recently lost all of Hunter Brown (shoulder), Cristian Javier (shoulder), Tatsuya Imai (arm) and Cody Bolton (back) to the injured list. Gordon was lit up for four earned runs on eight hits across 3.2 innings while taking a no-decision Tuesday in Houston's 7-6 win over Colorado, and the poor showing as a starter followed by the extended relief appearance looks like it will at least temporarily keep the left-hander from receiving additional turns through the rotation. Ryan Weiss and Peter Lambert would now appear to be the likely candidates to fill out the final two spots in the Houston rotation, which could be scaled back from six men to five during the upcoming week with an off day looming Thursday.

  • Astros' Peter Lambert: Contract officially selected

The Astros selected Lambert's contract from Triple-A Sugar Land on Friday, Julia Morales of Space City Home Network reports. Lambert made a bid for the Opening Day roster with an encouraging spring training and remained effective at Triple-A to begin the season, as he logged a 1.84 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 12:3 K:BB across 14.2 innings with Sugar Land. He'll now be the 10th pitcher to start a game for the Astros this season, as he's set to take the mound Friday against the Cardinals.

  • Peter Lambert: Released by Houston

The Astros granted Lambert his release Tuesday, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports. The team informed Lambert on Sunday that he won't be included on the Opening Day roster, and the 28-year-old righty has now decided to explore his options in free agency. He posted a 2.92 ERA and 1.70 WHIP over 12.1 innings in the Grapefruit League but owns a 6.28 ERA across his MLB career, so he may have to settle for a minor-league contract.

  • Astros' Peter Lambert: Loses out in bid for roster

The Astros informed Lambert on Sunday that he won't be included on the Opening Day roster, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports. Lambert had attended spring training as a non-roster invitee but made a spirited bid for a spot in Houston's bullpen by turning in a 2.92 ERA and 8:5 K:BB in 12.1 innings during the Grapefruit League. The right-hander's minor-league contract contains an opt-out clause that will allow him to pursue opportunities elsewhere, but Lambert is still deciding whether to become a free agent or stay in the organization and report to Triple-A Sugar Land, per Rome.

  • Astros' Peter Lambert: Gets MiLB deal from Astros

The Astros signed Lambert to a minor-league contract Monday, Aram Leighton of JustBaseball.com reports. Lambert spent the 2025 campaign pitching for the Yakult Swallows of Nippon Professional Baseball, collecting a 3.98 ERA and 111:54 K:BB over 124.1 innings. The 28-year-old has posted a 6.98 ERA over 74 appearances (38 starts) at the big-league level for the Rockies and will likely begin the 2026 season as rotation depth at Triple-A Sugar Land.

  • Rockies' Peter Lambert: Headed to Triple-A

The Rockies optioned Lambert to Triple-A Albuquerque on Monday. Lambert has been used mostly as a multi-inning reliever for the Rockies this season and it hasn't gone well, as he holds a 5.72 ERA and 50:29 K:BB over 61.1 innings. Jake Bird was called up from Triple-A to replace Lambert in the bullpen.

  • Rockies' Peter Lambert: Retrieved from Triple-A

The Rockies recalled Lambert from Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday After making the Rockies' Opening Day roster, Lambert has bounced between Colorado and Albuquerque and has spent the last month at Triple-A. He'll take the spot of Riley Pint on the active roster. Lambert owns a 6.47 ERA across 32.0 innings with the Rockies this season.

  • Rockies' Peter Lambert: Dispatched to Triple-A

The Rockies optioned Lambert to Triple-A Albuquerque on Monday. Lambert was needed for 2.2 innings and 72 pitches out of the bullpen in Sunday's loss to the Dodgers, so he's being sent out in favor of a fresh arm. Angel Chivilli was called up from Double-A Hartford and will take Lambert's spot in the bullpen and on the 26-man active roster.

  • Rockies' Peter Lambert: Sent to minors

Lambert was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday. After stumbling to a 7.24 ERA in 27.1 innings with the Rockies, Lambert was demoted to Triple-A. Matt Carasiti and John Curtiss were called up to the big-league roster.

  • Rockies' Peter Lambert: Shaky vs. Marlins

Lambert did not factor into the decision Thursday against the Marlins, allowing four runs on five hits and three walks over 3.1 innings. He struck out three. The Marlins got to Lambert quickly, scoring twice in the opening inning before tacking on runs in the third and the fourth. The 27-year-old has struggled in his two starts this year, allowing 10 runs in 6.1 innings. He's fared better out of the bullpen, however, pitching to a 1.88 ERA over 14.1 innings in relief. Still, the right-hander figures to remain in the rotation while Kyle Freeland (elbow) is sidelined. Lambert is currently scheduled for a home start against the Giants in his next outing.

  • Rockies' Peter Lambert: Struggles versus Mariners

Lambert (2-1) was tagged with the loss after he pitched three innings, allowing six runs on six hits while striking out five batters in Sunday's 10-2 defeat to the Mariners in Game 2 of their doubleheader. Lambert was able to toss a clean first inning before things got away from him in the top of the second, surrendering six runs in the frame with J.P. Crawford most notably ripping a three-run triple. The right-hander was making his first start of the season and he was unable to continue the success that he had coming out of the bullpen, watching his ERA balloon from 2.31 to 5.52 on the year. Lambert is tentatively set to pitch again next Sunday at home versus the Astros.

  • Rockies' Peter Lambert: Limiting runs in spring

Lambert allowed one hit and no walks while striking out two across three scoreless innings in Saturday's Cactus League game against the Cubs. Lambert hasn't allowed a run in three of his four spring outings and also hasn't issued a walk across his last two appearances. However, he's also lacked swing-and-miss stuff, as he's racked up only five strikeouts across nine frames. Lambert is competing for both a rotation and roster spot, and his spring performance should be beneficial to him.
