    Akin (3-2) took the loss and a blown save in Sunday's 3-2 defeat to the A's. He allowed two runs on two hits and a walk while striking out two in the ninth inning.

    Akin had converted his previous two save chances, allowing just one earned run over four innings in the absence of Felix Bautista (shoulder). Overall, the southpaw Akin sports a 3.56 ERA with a 1.47 WHIP and 43:23 K:BB across 43 innings. Despite the hiccup Sunday, Akin should remain Baltimore's primary ninth-inning option for the time being.

    Mariners' Trent Thornton: Facing 6-to-8-month recovery

    Thornton underwent season-ending surgery Monday to repair a torn left Achilles tendon and is expected to face a recovery timeline of 6-to-8 months, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

    Thornton suffered the Achilles injury during a July 30 relief appearance and finished the 2025 season with a 4.68 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 32:14 K:BB over 42.1 innings. Given the timeline laid out by Seattle, Thornton's availability for the start of spring training will likely be affected, and the injury could prompt the Mariners to non-tender him this winter as he heads into his final season of arbitration in 2026.

    White Sox's Elvis Peguero: Set to operate as opener Monday

    Peguero will serve as the White Sox's opening pitcher for Monday's game against the Tigers, Jack Ankony of SI.com reports.

    After being claimed off waivers from the Brewers on Aug. 3, Peguero was recalled from Triple-A Charlotte on Sunday and will make his White Sox debut Monday in what will be his first MLB start. The right-hander will likely be limited to just one or two innings before turning the ball over to lefty Tyler Alexander, who is expected to pitch in bulk relief.

    Orioles' Albert Suarez: Ready for rehab assignment

    Suarez (shoulder) is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment Tuesday or Wednesday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

    The Orioles have yet to decide which affiliate Suarez will join for his rehab assignment, but the 35-year-old righty is ready to test himself in a game setting after he recently completed multiple live sessions without issue. Suarez has been on the shelf since March 30 due to a right subscapularis strain. so he may be in store for a lengthy rehab assignment, especially if the Orioles choose to have him get stretched out as a starter.

    White Sox's Grant Taylor: Tallies fourth save

    Taylor picked up the save in Sunday's 6-4 win against Cleveland, pitching a clean inning with one strikeout.

    The flamethrowing right-hander secured his first save since July 4 with this succinct, eight-pitch effort. Since that date, Taylor had been respectable in 9.2 frames across nine appearances with a 3.72 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and 15:6 K:BB. Since July 4, the White Sox have notched only four saves as a team -- Jordan Leasure with two and Dan Altavilla and Steven Wilson with one apiece. The Chicago closer race is still wide open, and Taylor, who now owns a 3.91 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 30:9 K:BB over 23 total innings, remains one of the better high-leverage options for manager Will Venable.

    White Sox's Elvis Peguero: Summoned from Charlotte

    The White Sox recalled Peguero from Triple-A Charlotte on Sunday.

    Claimed off waivers from Milwaukee last weekend, Peguero was optioned to Charlotte but will now move up to the majors after making just one Triple-A appearance. The 28-year-old righty previously made six appearances out of the Milwaukee bullpen this season, logging a 4.91 ERA and 1.64 WHIP over 7.1 innings.

  • White Sox's Cam Booser: Moves up from Triple-A

    The White Sox recalled Booser from Triple-A Charlotte on Sunday.

    Chicago summoned Booser and Elvis Peguero from Charlotte to provide fresh bullpen arms in place of Bryan Hudson and Wikelman Gonzalez. Over 24.2 innings in the majors this season, Booser has posted a 5.11 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 27:14 K:BB.

    White Sox's Bryan Hudson: Heads to Triple-A

    The White Sox optioned Hudson to Triple-A Charlotte on Sunday.

    Chicago will move Hudson and Wikelman Gonzalez off the roster and replace them with a pair of fresh bullpen arms in lefty Cam Booser and righty Elvis Peguero. After being claimed off waivers from the Brewers, Hudson made three appearances for Chicago and surrendered three earned runs on six hits and one walk over 3.2 innings.

  • White Sox's Wikelman Gonzalez: Sent down to Triple-A

    The White Sox optioned Gonzalez to Triple-A Charlotte on Sunday.

    Chicago will move Gonzalez and Bryan Hudson off the roster and replace them with a pair of fresh bullpen arms in lefty Cam Booser and righty Elvis Peguero. After being called up Friday, Gonzalez worked in relief in the first two games of the series, tossing three scoreless frames.

    Red Sox's Justin Slaten: Bullpens scheduled

    Slaten (shoulder) is scheduled to throw bullpen sessions Monday and Wednesday, MLB.com reports.

    The second of those bullpen sessions is expected to include an up-and-down. Following that, Slaten should be ready to face hitters, which would be the final step before going on a rehab assignment.
