Morgan won't start Wednesday against the White Sox as previously scheduled, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.

The team announced after Tuesday's contest that Jean Carlos Mejia will instead start Wednesday, with no additional details offered. Mejia began the season at Triple-A and started two games before being promoted May 18, so Morgan isn't a safe bet to piggyback him.

Manager Charlie Montoyo said Tuesday that Merryweather (oblique) isn't close to returning, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Merryweather began a throwing program in mid-May by playing catch off flat ground, but his recovery has been progressing slowly. It's not yet clear when the right-hander will be able to resume mound work or begin a rehab assignment.

Manager Charlie Montoyo said Tuesday that Borucki (forearm) isn't close to returning, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Borucki has been on the injured list since May 14 and was initially expected to have a brief absence. However, the southpaw's recovery has progressed slowly, and he hasn't yet resumed throwing, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports. A better idea of Borucki's return timetable could be revealed once he begins a throwing program.

Quijada was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake on Tuesday.

Quijada was called up Monday and made a relief appearance in a loss to the Giants, allowing one hit and three walks while striking out three in 1.2 scoreless innings. He'll now return to the minors after catcher Max Stassi (concussion) was reinstated from the 7-day injured list Tuesday.

Hatch was scheduled to make his second rehab start in late May, but he's gotten some extra days off since he was experiencing cramping after his first outing, per Nicholson-Smith. It's not yet clear when the right-hander will be able to get back on the mound for Triple-A Buffalo.

Brasier (calf) threw a simulated game Sunday and is nearing a rehab assignment, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Manager Alex Cora said Tuesday that Brasier will go on a rehab assignment "sooner rather than later" now that he's progressed to facing hitters. The right-hander has been on the injured list since the start of the regular season but is expected to work in a setup role for the Red Sox once he's cleared to return to the big-league club.

Manager Dusty Baker said Tuesday that Abreu (leg) will be out "a while," Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Abreu suffered his injury while shagging balls during practice Saturday, and he's on crutches as a result. Baker didn't provide a timetable for the right-hander's return, but it appears as though he'll miss more than the minimum 10 days.

Crochet will be limited to single-inning outings going forward and will not pitch back-to-back days, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.

The flame-throwing lefty has only made two appearances of more than an inning this season, and he's yet to pitch on consecutive days. Crochet clearly has the talent to be an oft-utilized, high-leverage reliever, but the White Sox appear to be conserving his arm for the time being.

Misiewicz secured his 11th hold in an extra-inning win over the Athletics on Monday despite allowing two earned runs on a hit and a walk over two-thirds of an inning. He also recorded two strikeouts.

Misiewicz had quite the eventful outing, putting on the first two hitters he faced via a walk and single before recording back-to-back strikeouts. Both runners would eventually come around to score with JT Chargois on the mound, marking the fourth time in May that Misiewicz was charged with multiple earned runs in an appearance. However, he continues to be a workhorse/holds machine for manager Scott Servais, with the southpaw now having logged a career-high 24 appearances, including five in the last nine days of May alone.

Vest secured his sixth hold in an extra-inning win over the Athletics on Monday, firing a perfect seventh inning during which he recorded a strikeout.

Vest fired five of nine pitches for strikes during a highly efficient frame, one that marked his first appearance since May 19 after a 10-day stint on the COVID-19 injured list. The right-hander has three holds in his last four trips to the mound, but he's also proven a bit erratic, having surrendered multiple earned runs in three of his last six outings.
