Holmes (6-4) gave up one earned run on two hits and two walks while striking out one over 0.2 innings to take the loss in a 7-6 defeat against the Brewers on Friday.

Holmes came into a tie game in the bottom of the ninth and promptly gave up a leadoff double to Hunter Renfroe. The baserunner would eventually come around to score and give the Brewers the walkoff victory on a bases-loaded single by the number nine hitter, Garrett Mitchell. Holmes converted his last three save opportunities coming into the game, but he struggled in this non-save situation. He has an ERA of 4.50 in seven September appearances.

Ridings (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment at Double-A Somerset on Saturday.

Ridings has been facing live hitters for several weeks and will return to game action in the minors Saturday. It's not yet clear whether the right-hander will have enough time to ramp up prior to the end of the regular season since he hasn't pitched in a game in over a year.

Yarbrough is expected to serve as the Rays' bulk reliever behind opener Shawn Armstrong during Saturday's game against the Rangers, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Yarbrough has been effective over two appearances in September, striking out four in 7.2 scoreless innings. Although Armstrong will begin Saturday's game on the mound, Yarbrough should have the chance to see plenty of work in relief.

Armstrong will serve as the opener during Saturday's game against the Rangers, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Armstrong tossed 48 pitches during Tuesday's matchup against the Blue Jays, and he'll begin Saturday's game on the mound after having a few days of rest. Ryan Yarbrough will likely follow Armstrong as the primary pitcher.

German's contract will be selected from Triple-A Worcester on Saturday, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.

German was dealt from the Yankees to the Red Sox in January of 2021 and struggled at Double-A Portland during the 2021 campaign. However, he's posted a 2.72 ERA, 64:19 K:BB and 0.91 WHIP in 49.2 innings over 43 appearances between the Double-A and Triple-A clubs this year. He'll have the chance to make his major-league debut late in 2022.

Leclerc picked up the save in Friday's 4-3 win over the Rays, allowing a hit and a walk in a scoreless inning.

The save was Leclerc's sixth of the season. It took him 25 pitches, and it comes off the heels of a loss and blown save in his last appearance. He has two losses in his last five appearances, but he also has four saves in his last six outings. Leclerc seems to be the favorite to earn saves in Texas and seems to have a long leash as well.

Coleman (4-2) allowed two runs on two walks in one-third of an inning Friday, taking the loss versus the Red Sox.

Coleman walked two of the first three batters in the eighth inning, and closer Scott Barlow then allowed both of those runners to score. Coleman's only other loss this year came back on May 1. He saw a 9.1-inning scoreless streak snapped with the sloppy outing Friday, which also lifted his ERA to 2.66 with a 1.25 WHIP and 63:36 K:BB through 61 innings this year. He's added 13 holds and two blown saves while emerging as a setup man for the Royals, though their poor play has offered him few chances to pitch with a lead.

Barlow allowed two inherited runners to score on a hit and two walks while striking out two in two-thirds of an inning, taking a blown save Friday versus the Red Sox.

Dylan Coleman made a mess of things in the eighth inning and Barlow wasn't able to escape the jam. He walked in a run with the bases loaded and allowed an RBI single to J.D. Martinez. Barlow hadn't seen a save chance since Sept. 4, as the Royals went just 2-7 in their previous nine games. Barlow hasn't been charged with a run in September, covering 4.2 innings in five appearances this month. He owns a 2.43 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 67:19 K:BB through 66.2 innings this season. He's added 21 saves, four blown saves, six holds and a 6-4 record.

Stephan (6-4) struck out two in a perfect inning to earn the win Friday over the Twins.

Stephan was sharp in the eighth inning of a tied game, and the Guardians went ahead in their half of the frame. It's his second win in as many appearances, and it extended his scoreless streak to 5.1 innings. The right-hander owns a 2.34 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 74:14 K:BB with two saves and 17 holds through 57.2 innings across 58 appearances this season.

Hendriks (3-4) allowed an unearned run and took a loss against the Tigers on Friday. He recorded two outs, including a strikeout.

Hendriks entered a 2-2 game in the 10th inning and gave up the game-winning run after a pair of sacrifices. He was tagged with his first loss since July 23 but his ERA fell slightly to 3.14 through 52 appearances. Hendriks owns an impressive 74:13 K:BB while converting 33 of 37 save chances this season.
